No service - if I speak to the same uselss man on the phone, I might explode. No response to emails. Faulty charger resulted in PCN. Absolutely no help whatsoever.

Customer care is important & should be remembered!

We are not happy that we were moved from our old contract 5 weeks before the end of our previous contract. ESB were given the date our contract finished. It is further complicated because we will be in France on the transfer date. We have to get someone else to read our meter. I rang up and changing it to the correct date was difficult.

Good timing and luck

I do not normally answer telemarketing calls but because I had heard in the news that Gas prices are going up drastically I decided to obtain details of charges for both gas and electricity so that I could compare with my current provider.
My current provider's lower charges on a flexible tariff rate were £600 per annum more than ESB fixed charges for three years.

The fourteen days cooling off period allowed me the time to compare and make an informed decision and I changed to ESB.

Wouldn't let me pay; threatened to give my details to debt collection agency

Almost impossible to get a useful response to emails, and long waits for phone support. They said they'd pass my details on to a debt collection agency after payment issues on their side.
Previous house occupants used ESB, I tried to pay the final bill but their site didn't work. Then I finally managed to get it to work over the phone, and later got a letter saying they'll pass on my details to a debt collection agency! Seems like it's being resolved now, but it was unnecessarily stressful.

I wish I had never got involved with them.

They accepted a switch from a prospective (contracts, had not yet been signed) purchaser of my property. They sent "sorry to see you go" letters and I contacted them saying that this should not happen. When the sale finally went ahead I phoned to give my final readings. They told me that the switch had happened and my account had been closed four days earlier and since the final readings were the same as the last bill I had paid - it was an empty property -I didn't need to do any more.
Their response to my complaint that they had switched the supply without my agreement was that the sale had gone through now so it didn't really matter.
Then they sent a bill for a gross over-estimate. Six days was equivalent to the previous cost per month. I sent photos of the final readings and heard no more until a flurry of final demands and threats of debt collectors.
I contacted them again and was told they would contact me in two days. One month later, I phoned them.
They just kept saying the readings are within tolerance, nothing we can do but we'll give you £5 goodwill. I didn't feel any goodwill and I resisted. They kept going up by five pounds until I pointed out that another five pounds would cancel out the bill. At that point they very grudgingly cancelled the bill.
A complete shambles of an organisation which never apologises.
P.S. they asked me to send them proof that the house had been sold.
Update:
I sent the information requested to Emma but heard no more.
Having received an email confirming that my bill had been cancelled and my account closed, I received today three bills from them, all issued on the same day. Two of them informed me that I was £84.94 in credit, although the billing periods were different. The third matched the billing period of one of the first two but stated a credit balance of £23.32. I suppose I should be grateful that the figures are credit and not debit.
A thoroughly useless company. Steer well clear.

Early days

Early days, as I have switched to ESB only five days ago. My first impressions on viewing the website for data are worrying. I see I have been debited £59.13 by DD, and my 'Bill is for £59.13 but no breakdown and no energy usage chart. The pdf 'Bill' does not appear when clicked upon, only that my next payment will be for £59.13. Ordinarily my monthly bill/usage is for £48. from my previous supplier. I was looking to save money, not spend more.

To add: It is now the 21st November and I have emailed ESB asking for more information regarding my account. Specifically, why as a user of £48 worth of electricity per month, I am debited £59.13 per month. After 4 emails which are replied to automatically stating I would receive a response within two working days - I have received no replies. After six weeks with ESB, I now seem to be £73.41 in credit. This is not right.

Pleased to stay with ESB

After hearing about energy companies going bust and prices going sky high, i was pleased to hear from my present company ESB. John phoned me about renewing my contract which ends in November. I was pleased that ESB were still in business and even more pleased that they offered me a new contract at exactly the same price that i was already paying. John was very helpful and explained everything that i needed to know.

Good so far

Spoke to Maria from Sheffield, very friendly and informative. The price offered was much lower than my current provider. I hope it continues to go smoothly. Thanks.

I had two lovely girls come to my door…

I had two lovely girls come to my door and speak to me about ESB energy and how it could benefit me as a customer to switch to them especially during the current climate. They were very helpful and explained this so clearly, I was taken back by how friendly they were and appreciate them helping me find a really good deal to help me over the next two years. I couldn’t recommend ESB enough, amazing customer service and good prices.
