I love Ethical Consumer
I love Ethical Consumer it's full of good articles, information well & clearly written which enables me to make ethical decisions about what I buy & who I buy it from - wonderful - in a consumer world of greed, misinformation, obfuscation & over complication - what a good thing it is!
EC goes from strength to strength
EC goes from strength to strength. I really enjoyed the variety and depth of articles and research in the new #190.
Honest wide-ranging ethical assessments
A publication that does what it says! Critical but fair ethical assessment of products and services that can fundamentally change the way in which you view our consumerist centred world. Be prepared to be challenged by the depth and detail, but it is worth reading on, and keeping in touch with what is really happening in our supply chains. An organisation worthy of support if only by subscription.
If you care subscribe
Subscribed for a while now. The magazine is useful, interesting and well informed but access to the website is the real benefit. Very easy to quickly check on a company or product.
Fantastic ethical advice
Fantastic ethical advice. Impartial and thorough research on companies, their practices and structures, helps me to make better, more ethical decisions on my purchases. They don't shy away from calling people out either. Great stuff.
The goods and services given the…
The goods and services given the highest ratings are not always widely available. Also, there is no indication of their efficacy.
Very important information
The Ethical consumer is very informative. The research is of a high standard and provides me with information which I don't have time or the resources to find. It informs my day to day activities and purchases.
Ethical Consumer subscription
I have subscribed to Ethical Consumer magazine for many years and always find their articles and web-site a really useful guide when I'm considering the ethics of any purchases I'm making. They raise my awareness of matters I didn't even know I should be concerened about! And they do it in a way that's accessible and not overwhelming.
Ethical consumer is my first port of…
Ethical consumer is my first port of call before purchasing anything at all. Great research - honest and reliable. I love its arrival too.
Don't buy anything without it
This isn't a review for a recent experience (though I could do that). This is a review for countless experiences with Ethical Consumer.
I've been subscribing for years. It replaced my subscription to The Ecologist because I felt I knew the issues - I wanted something to help me make the best decisions for people and the planet.
It's now a recurring birthday present from my partner and she knows not to change it. As soon as my copy comes through the post, I make a tea, run a bath, jump in (bath, not tea) and read it.
Any time I have an important/large buying decision, I look up the brand in EC. If I am looking long-term where best to shop, I check EC - and check in again from time to time. I have used it to help choose my pension and mortgage and use it to give advice to others.
Even though I work for an ethical, environmental charity and even though you can do a lot of your own research online, there's almost too much information (and sometimes seemingly none)... EC helps me make quicker decisions or give me a starting point for research. And when there's just too much noise, I'll use EC to simplify things, because I trust it.
Where you spend your money is arguably the biggest way you can make a difference. Every £ you spend is a vote for a better world - or a worse one.
If you want to make it better, spend wisely and fairly, if and when you can... starting with Ethical Consumer itself.
Simplifies ethical decision-making
I've been subscribing to Ethical Consumer for decades because their rigorous research and easy-fo-follow guides make living ethically a whole lot easier. It's also brilliant to be able to use the website to assess the ethics of any purchase you're considering, from a new laptop or mortgage to a washing machine or shampoo.
Meticulous research that leads to informed choices…
Ethical consumer undertake meticulous research that uncovers the truth about the big (and not so big) brands. For many years we have consulted their reports before making most purchases. They also cover wider issues around finance, travel and energy. If you care about the environment and social justice, their reports are essential reading.
Invaluable in helping to make the “right” choices
An excellent resource for those looking to consider the ethical impacts of consumer choices. Thorough reviews with the option to tailor rankings to your own priorities. Am only disappointed that they haven’t yet ranked everything that I am interested in finding out about.
Essential for all serious Ethical Consumers!
One of the few sources of well researched, honest and up-to-date ethical assessments covering a wide range of companies and products that we use every day. Very well worth supporting if, like me, you want to do more than just talk about the companies and products we should (and shouldn't) use.
A vital job done very well...
Yes, we need systemic change to save the planet, but each purchase we make rewards one company over another, so you might as well reward the ones who are making an effort. Ethical Consumer does an excellent job of helping you choose. It also investigates and explains those wider systemic issues. Use it to inform your shopping list!
very helpful and informative…
very helpful and informative information about how to choose products and services that are best for us and the planet. Entertaining and well illustrated. An excellent reference resource.
The best magazine to help you make a positive difference!
This is one of the best magazines to help you make a positive difference in this world by guiding your everyday choices and decisions. They do proper research on all companies and products and highlight the best environmentally friendly and ethical ones using a score table (the bad ones don't get left out, they simply end up at the bottom of the table) - whether you're looking for an ethical pension, to buy a new washing machine, fridge or laptop - they can tell you which is the best to get for the planet! They also do company profiles looking deeply into companies such as IKEA and similar big companies to help us consumers figure out if we want to support these big businesses or not. The magazine also has great competitions with lovely prizes and interesting articles and calls for action for those who want to actively boycott the businesses who are bad for our planet. I have been a subscriber for over 10 years and I love what they do! I recently moved to Sweden but didn't give up my subscription! Go Ethical Consumer!
Long Term Ethical Consumer Subscriber
I have subscribed to Ethical Consumer for over 30 years and have found it invaluable. It gives information not readily available anywhere else.
