Visited Everyman Cinema Screen on the…

Visited Everyman Cinema Screen on the Green recently and, as always, the venue itself is great and the staff I interacted with were polite and helpful.

However, during the screening my phone and wallet were stolen from my bag without me noticing at the time. There was no disturbance or anything unusual, which is exactly the concern.

This is not a criticism of the staff, but it does highlight what feels like a significant gap in security. The fact that someone was able to enter or move within the screen and take belongings without any deterrent or monitoring suggests that the current setup makes this kind of incident relatively easy to carry out.

In particular, the entrance to the cinema appears to be open and not consistently staffed, meaning it’s possible to walk straight in and access the screens without any checks. That lack of controlled access is a clear vulnerability.

For a premium cinema experience, I would expect a higher level of protection for customers’ belongings — whether that’s more controlled access beyond the entrance, visible deterrents, or occasional monitoring during screenings.

Due to the amount of stress and time wasted dealing with the aftermath of this, I do think it’s important this is properly flagged rather than treated as an isolated incident.

I’ve raised this directly with the cinema and appreciate their response, but I think it’s important to highlight publicly as it’s something that could affect anyone attending.

Hopefully this is taken as constructive feedback and leads to some practical improvements.

this company does not care any more

this company does not reply to emails. In the past have always enjoyed ourselves. On our last visit the burgers were soggy and fell apart...not great when eating on ones lap, the screen 1 at the Maida Vale cinema was way too small for a big sci fi and i felt as if I was in my living room, and the final straw was £31 for 2 glasses of Merlot. Will never go back unless we get a response.

Definitely going again!

A few of us went for the first time to the Wokingham branch and I must say we will definitely be going again! From the moment we entered the customer service was exceptional. The manager Luke and the catering staff were welcoming, friendly and Luke definitely deserves a pay rise for his leadership and customer service skills! Food was served in record time and was delicious. I will be going back with my kids next time for sure. Definitely an experience whether you watch a movie there or not and simply dine and catch up.

Chelmsford Everyman

Chelmsford Everyman - They seated us and told us they would tell us when the screen is open. Many requests from them for an order for food/drinks then just ignored us. Went to go in the screen and was told again it was not ready and we would be informed when we could go in, they then totally forgot about us and the film had started. Really disappointed, they are just interested making money on food and drinks. Overpriced nonsense and the sofas are not comfortable. The popcorn was stale and had a weird taste. Don’t waste your money.

Everyman poor film choice

Everyman poor film choice
So disappointed with Everyman. I love going and have had 2 years of membership. But both years I’ve really struggled to use up the 6 tickets as the range of films is staggeringly limited. I did tell Everyman this and they extended my membership by a few weeks- but this was not enough time for me to use my 2 remaining tickets, so I lost them. What a waste of money!!

Most films were 15/18, so not suitable to take my daughter or often not inviting to me- most films advertised as containing violence, or disturbing images/sex and violence. Fine if that’s your bag, but otherwise very limiting.

The one time there was an interesting looking Spanish film, it was only on a few days and at times I couldn’t make.

I really feel they could offer a better service to account for their high prices! I won’t be going again.

Went to the Chelmsford Everyman…

Went to the Chelmsford Everyman yesterday, it’s been a couple of years since my last visit. It didn’t look like the carpets have seen a hoover since my last visit. Overall cleanliness very poor, the toilets stank and the taps have seen better days. It used to be a high end experience, but not any more.
It needs refurbishing.

Very Poor experience for the money…

Very Poor experience for the money charged.
Firstly we specifically asked for our food to be delivered 1hr after the start of the film. Instead it arrived after 15 minutes.
Secondly when you are trying to watch the film the waiters creep and stop in front of the screen and I cant get into the film.
Overall a frustrating evening.

Short changed cocktails.

Winchester Cinema - half measures. Ordered a cocktail. It arrived half empty but full of ice. £12.
Went out to bar half way through film. Ordered another.
I Watched the bar man pour half a half measure into the cocktail shaker. Ripping folk off. Stick to the bottled stuff so they cannot rip you off.

GIFT CARD ROBBERY

I have always found the staff at Barnet Everyman helpful and I really like going there.
BUT - and it is a very big but - I was given a gift card with quite a lot of credit on it for my 75th birthday last year. For various reasons I could only use it once and then, this week, when I went back I was told the card had "expired" after a year. The Ts and Cs are written in tiny print on the card and no expiry date is given. I didn't know when the card was actually bought (ie. when the year started) and my health and caring responsibilities stopped me going again. So Everyman PLC has actually stolen quite a large sum of money from my gift card and I think that is absolutely unacceptable. I notice Everyman do not respond to posts here so I am not optimistic about hearing from them. If I don't hear from them I intend to take every opportunity I find to bring this to others attention.

Great cinema!

Easy to buy tickets online and customer service is immaculate which makes the experience great! Just note that if you order tickets on the website, Everyman add a fee of £2.25 for the whole order and the app adds a fee of £2.25 for each ticket so make sure to book tickets on the website if you’re booking for more than one person online.

Amazing cinema

For a very busy night the staff worked tirelessly to serve everyone on time, I couldn’t fault the service and professionalism. I work in hospitality and know how hard it can be on a busy night. I love this cinema, I go to the Cheltenham cinema, I go all the time. I would definitely recommend it, a lot of work colleagues go and also love it. I saw Wicked, and loved the experience I got from walking into the cinema to going home. The staff need a standing ovation, not enough staff on to address the demand and impatience of some of the customer's, some were very rude. I have no complaints. Paula

Gift card doesnt redeem. AVOID

My son bought me a gift card for my birthday and trying redeem it online has been absolutely impossible. I have repeatedly tried to book in a visit to no avail. I have never used everyman before, and there is absolutley no chance I will after this. I am going to have to risk travelling to Lincoln and hope they will redeem it in person, and if not I will have to try odeon, as i have never had this trouble with them. Do not ever buy a gift card. I haven't even been able to enter the cinema yet, and I already know ill never visit again

Fab venue

Northallerton branch, our first visit but definitely not our last. Fabulous venue with art deco style interior design. Large bar, lounge, dining area. Very clean. Staff very friendly and attentive. Screen rooms were small and cosy with only 60 seats each, but with lots of room and side tables per seat. The sofas for two were a novelty. Drinks and food service to the seats inside the screen room was great. Great customer care. Highly recommended.

A different Shambles at York

Our first time at this venue and it was pretty disastrous: we travelled 60 miles to see a Metropolitan Opera performance of a rarely performed Opera and our guest travelled even further but disappointingly the recording frequently broke down with a blank screen and no sound or vision. Despite the heroic efforts of James, the Manager, this intermittent problem persisted throughout the screening.
There is clearly a serious technical issue there which needs to be put right as a matter of urgency.
The screening was ruined by the intermittent sound and vision interruptions.
I cannot praise the Manager and his staff enough - they were the only positive of the evening. Complimentary drinks were served and apologies made and my understanding is that full refunds are to be given. We will see.
This cinema charges about 25% more than our local Vue cinema, presumably for the 'seat service' of food and drink. It might just be me but I find it distracting for people in adjacent seats to be drinking pints of lager and eating beefburger and chips during a film screening.
This was was our first and it will likely be our last visit to this venue.

If your child is on spectrum and you don’t like being bullied or having a hate campaign against you to not go to Spielbergs or the Everyman in Hampstead

My name is Charlotte Lewis I’ve been going to the Everyman in Hampstead for 20 years and I went one day to buy some tickets and I was told very abruptly with a lot of questions by the manager asked that I was banned because apparently I was violent and I had thrown a glass bars of a member of staff. I thought it was a joke. It was not. It was written in the computer. It had been discussed that had meetings about it and I requested some evidence to back this up when I asked you I throw a glass spot at and they told me I’d thrown it to a member of staff in Spielbergs, I I’m a sensitive person I would say delicate fragile I’m on the spectrum is a disability and sometimes I get bullied a lot for it months went by about nine months went by only to be told that it was all made up by two members of staff at Everyman because they didn’t like me. It affected my mental health when I was told I was banned and then I had done a violent act towards somebody which I knew not to be true I became very fragile. My doctor put me on anti-anxiety medication I lost weight and I felt so sad and so lonely that people could bully me especially as I’m on the Spectrum. Not one person from the Everyman has apologised about this joke that was played on me. It became a rumour around my neighbourhood and I went again recently to the Everyman again see if I could buy some tickets and the manager us Josephine was so cruel to me she said well we still don’t know if we can allow you in even though their actions towards me a criminal. I can start a civil case against them. It’s slanderous it was a hate campaign defamation of character and it’s all done on the Everyman property on Every Everyman. I am by the Everyman so if your child is on a spectrum or you are a fragile person and you find hate campaigns towards you and being bullied and lied about by members of staff at Everyman or Spielbergs heartbreaking then I suggest you do not go to the Hampstead and I suggest you do not go to Spielbergs in Hampstead God bless Charlotte Lewis , and just to say I still never had an apology . Out here and staff members in Spielbergs had a joke in their staffroom with a cartoon of a glass bar saying bring one home a joke towards me. I have the photo of it. Maybe I should go and have a chit chat with a lawyer.
