Had my first appointment with Danielle and though she was great
Just what l needed in a PT

I didn’t necessarily join because it’s a women’s only gym. I joined because I love group fitness classes including reformer Pilates and it was by far the cheapest and has such a wide variety of group fitness classes that it worked for me .

Love Fernwood so much! Very welcoming team and members are all very lovely also. Thank you to the team at Capalaba for creating such an awesome environment for us all 💟

Love being part of the Fernwood Tarneit club. The staff are all genuinely friendly and get to know you to help you on your fitness journey. The facilities are always clean and inviting, with great spaces for the classes. I have been to a lot of gyms but never a women's only gym like Fernwood. It has a really special vibe, a safe space for all women to be able to just get on with their fitness journey. Having the Technogym app for workouts as well as the body scan available whenever is also handy.
My only wish is that they get another sauna or upgrade the current one to accommodate more people as it books out too quickly. It is fantastic when you can get a time though.

Would give this place 0 stars if I could. They claim to be an inclusive and supportive environment however denied a transgender woman access to their clubs. A transgender woman that identifies as and lives her life as a female. The concern over transgender women being a threat to biologically born women’s safety is an absolute farce and a scare tactic created by politicians and lawmakers to force the public to misdirect their anger and attention. Trans women are women and should be allowed in female spaces. As a biologically born female, I would never support a place that doesn’t support trans rights. Screw this gym.

I did the Cycle/RPM classes at Fernwood Ballarat as a casual class (non-member). (I visit family in Ballarat 4-5 times a year for about 10-days each visit). The classes were fabulous - very upbeat and easy to just 'run' with, with live instructor and virtual class options. The classes kept my cycling legs going while I was away from home. The staff were friendly, everything was no-fuss and straight-forward. Also, the other areas of the gym looked well-setup, clean and inviting. I highly recommend Fernwood, whether you are a local or just in town for a while!

In a few words:
1. A very GREEDY owner
2. POOR management

I have been teaching my regular Friday's classes for a few months plus covering a few other instructors classes. Due to work and family commitments I haven't rushed to send my invoice for a few months.

A combined invoice was emailed to management and CCed to the owner in March with all my personal classes and also including classes I have covered.

Management comes back to me after a few days, not even asking to clarify, she demands me to take off a class that she believes I did not cover. With further evidence and written email confirmation from the instructor, I have proved them that I have covered all classes I have included in the invoice.

There was also some misunderstanding about couple of classes that meant to be 45 mins instead of 60 mins as I normally teach.

The attached invoice was emailed several times to both, management and the owner up to the end of March and up to this date they still OWE me $$$

The invoice clearly states my personal classes and the classes I have covered, total of $1060 (with me agreeing to amend the 2 60 mins classes into 45 mins classes).

As per my bank statement, our of $1060 they have only paid me $835.45... THE BALANCE IS POCKETED by the owner towards her oversease travels.

I'm not going to waste my precious time and energy to go in court for 224.55 that Sylvia Westra, the owner, owes me.

I have been going to gym most of my adult life and some may say I am hard to please. I love weights, classes, and reformer. My membership at Fernwood enables me to do all of these things and more! The variety has certainly accelerated what I have been able to achieve. The club looks great and the staff are so encouraging. Feeling great, thank you Fernwood!

What a great feeling of community, the staff were welcoming and answered all my questions. I loved the beautiful changerooms and state of the art equipment.

Fernwood is a fantastic place to hang out, workout and not worry about guys hogging equipment. It smells pretty good most of the time too! The hair straighteners are great to be able to do a quick touch up after Pilates class before work. Love the members, the club and the fact that I can feel safe and be myself while training.

I am a tradesperson and an active gym enthusiast, I have been for years. This is the most impressive gym I have been to in decades, the team have put their heart and soul into creating a safe place for women to work out. Well done for such a huge effort.

Fernwood Fitness Clayton is the biggest scam, many hidden costs, worst cancellation policy and customer service. They will never respond to your emails or address your concern.
Had to cancel after one week of signing up, they're continuing to charge me for another 40 days after cancellation.
It's all about Money for them.
Stay away from them, look for another gym or train at home.
