If I could have given no stars I would have!

I had done my homework on this company online (Saffron Walden branch) and seeing that they had five star google reviews (which I now realise were unverified) I went in and asked if they could repair a break in a very fine gold chain. I had thought it might be impossible but the man took it in and said it would be £40 which I thought was a lot but the necklace was dear to me so I accepted it. There was going to be a delay in doing the work because of summer holidays which I accepted.

I got a call after a few weeks to say they had been unable to repair it and that they had also broken it in another place. I reluctantly accepted that and went in to collect it. The saleswoman mentioned that if I wanted to sell it for scrap that they bought scrap.

I tipped it out of the bag to take a look at the new break and while I was doing this the saleswoman picked up a section and said something to the effect of “they break so easily” while pulling it deliberately from both ends and snapping it in a third place to demonstrate her point.

I simply could not believe my eyes and neither could my friend and I was in total shock and upset so I just picked the bits up and put them back in the bag and left the shop in a daze hardly believing what I had just witnessed. I guess if this is how they treat things no wonder it had already been broken in their care.

There was no apology for this reckless and destructive behaviour and a total lack of sensitivity. This was a necklace bought for me by my son that had great sentimental value for me and it was difficult enough for me to accept that they had already broken it without having to see it being handled in such a thoughtless and cavalier manner.

Will definitely not be returning.
