Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 36 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the quality of products, noting issues such as tools breaking easily, blades chipping, and items being dull or poorly designed. Reviewers also frequently encountered problems with the warranty process, finding it difficult to get claims honored and often being asked to pay for shipping broken items back. The customer service was a major point of contention, with many reporting unresponsiveness to emails and phone calls, and a general lack of helpfulness when trying to resolve issues. Some people also felt that the company's communication was poor and that they were not empathetic to customer concerns.

The FISKARS P552 PowerGear2 pruners are…

The FISKARS P552 PowerGear2 pruners are great at cutting but are dangerous. If you are right handed your fingers grip the handles but your thumb hangs out to the left side. If your thumb is too close to the rotating lower handle while cutting the plastic nub will cut you as the blade ends the cut with a quick cut through action. I cut the side of my thumb and was so shocked at the amount of blood that I took photos of it. Keep your thumb away from the shears when cutting!

Kitchen Devils knives can be really dangerous

I was given a starter set of Kitchen Devil knives for Christmas. One of them, the multi purpose one, within ten seconds of using it I cut myself. The design is terrible. The bottom of the knife sticks right out so it is impossible to avoid. What an absolutely terribly dangerous design! They should never have sold this for use in a family kitchen. AVOID at all costs. So DANGEROUS!!

Outstanding warranty service.

I bought an extendable tree pruner several years ago and used it frequently. Unfortunately it caught on a branch this year and the head broke as I tried to release it. I called Fiskars on Monday, and my warranty replacement arrived on Wednesday. Great product and awesome customer service. ( and then I went out and bought a couple of other Fiskars products!j

I received excellent customer service…

I received excellent customer service from the Fiskars company when my branch loppers handle broke. I sent them a message to the company with a photo of the broken loppers. I received a reply quickly and was told that a replacement set of loppers was on the way. Great customer service. Excellent product too. I also have the pruners which are tough and the best I've tried; I've owned several pairs.

Excellent Products and Customer Service

I have had a few experiences with Fiskars and each time they came through perfectly. I am a sewist and use many cutting tools. They have replaced a couple products with very few or no questions asked except what was wrong with the product. Each customer service rep was friendly and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Follow ups to any emails were answered in a very timely manner. I recommend Fiskars to anyone who has need of a sharp tool.

You guys are great!

You guys are great! Your products are outstanding, but if something goes awry, you stand by your guarantee. I had a problem with one of your products and you sent me a completely new replacement, no questions asked! I am a Fiskars shopper for life. If I could give you more than 5 stars, I would!

Dishonorable Warranty Claim Handling

I bought a pair of gardening shears from Home Depot and I narrowed my choices down to a $30 pair of PowerGear 3x Titanium coated pair and a $50+ pair of PowerGear 4x (marketed as Arthritis friendly but no Titanium coating). I opted for the 4x as they were advertised to make the cutting easier on the shoulders. As I suspected, they came apart at the gears on he third use of them. (I suspected this due to the handles being fiberglass and the blades being steel and they were joined at the gears by PLASTIC and secured with a steel nut and bolt without any kind of reinforcement) I have worked with tools my whole life and knew this was a bad design. However, because of the warranty I paid the premium price anyway. Fast forward and two warranty claim attempts later I was sent a pair of the low end shears (UP TO 3x power NO TITANIUM) as a replacement. They sell for about $23 at Home depot. Yes less than half of what I paid for the original pair. If this is how warranties are handled I will start using another brand. Most likely a store brand (Rigid, Husky, Kobalt, etc.) that carries an in-store warranty and will replace items with "like" or "comparable" items. I have nearly 2 dozen gardening items and they are all Fiskars. My most recent purchase is a Pick-Axe, it is a Husky.

Finding another brand

I've used Fiskars for most of my gardening utensil needs for decades. I was given a pair of Fiskars Soft Grip Take-Apart Garden Shears as a gift. Within a year, the soft grip started to disintegrate (they've been kept inside and always hand cleaned). Contacted Fiskars and was immediately sent a replacement pair that were so mangled (delivery envelope was fine) that I couldn't get them out of the package. I contacted them again and they said another pair was on the way. It's been months and no replacement. Bummer and disappointed!

I was looking to buy a splitting axe

I was looking to buy a splitting axe. I rang Fiskars as their website advice is difficult to understand: some advice is based on log diameter; other advice is based on the size of the person using the axe. I bought a splitting axe X11, following the advice given by a Fiskars Customer Service staff member that this axe would split logs of less than 20cm diameter. N.B. The website states this axe is for logs 'with diameter of more than 20cm' (sic).
The axe is too small for the job. My husband has followed the technique in the Fiskars video - to no avail. The response from Fiskars: 'we can only advise the capabilities of our products, personal suitability and preference is something we cannot assist with'. There was no suggestion about how we might improve use of the axe, no expression of regret that we had bought the wrong size, and the product information on their website is still wrong: the X11 is not suitable for logs of diameter greater than 20cm.

Stainless steel spade

Having written to Wilkinsons only to be told after several emails that it was made under license by Friskers I contacted them.

Of course, I got the usual email saying they need the receipt.

Not very likely as it was a present and the lady who bought it for me died just over 12 months ago.

However, my gripe is, it clearly says on the label “Lifetime Guarantee”.

So, when is a lifetime guarantee not a lifetime guarantee and why should I need a receipt.

Very bad product as it lasted only about 6 years and no way it can be repaired.

Fiskars Weed puller part request with unexpected reply!

I have one of Fiskars Weed pullers. Unfortunately a part broke on it when my son was helping me. I sent a picture to Fiskars and hoped that they may be able to supply me with the part so I could fix it. I would have been happy to pay for the part. BUT NO! Fiskars only emailed back and said they were sending me a BRAND NEW one of the newer version. Well done to them above and beyond what I had expected, I wish that I had the same service from all the companies I deal with and it is a lot.

Fiskars "Warranty" is a sham

Fiskars "Warranty" is a sham! To me, a warranty means the company will repair or replace the item "warrantied". Fiskars first requires that you send a description with photos to show that the item is indeed failed. Then they (eventually) send you a part and instructions on how to repair the item yourself.
