Disappointing product and customer services

Absolutely one of the most disappointing products and customer experiences I’ve ever had.

The HÅG Capisco is marketed as an ergonomic, premium office chair. In reality, after about two weeks of normal daily use, it caused severe back pain — significantly worse than any chair I’ve used before, including extremely cheap ones.

No matter how I adjusted it or changed positions, the discomfort only got worse. This is not an “adaptation period” — this is a chair that simply does not function as expected in real-world desk work.

The whole “ergonomic concept” seems detached from reality. You’re effectively expected to sit in unnatural positions and not use the backrest in a normal way — which completely defeats the purpose of having a backrest at all. Ironically, their own marketing materials show people using it like a normal chair.

Customer support was even more frustrating. Instead of addressing the issue, I received repetitive, scripted responses that felt no different than interacting with an automated system. There was no real attempt to take responsibility or provide a meaningful solution — just deflection and policy quoting.

For a chair at this price point, this is completely unacceptable.

Worse comfort than a basic low-cost chair, combined with a very poor support experience.

Manufacturing defect badly handled

On Sun 7 Jan 2024 I reported a manufacturing defect in my HÅG SoFi 7500 by email and got a reply saying they would contact me in one working day.

The email included photos with a carpenters level showing the seat was not level. The set was less level than all my window sills, disappointing for any office chair and especially for a premium model.

On Thu 11 Jan I had not been contacted so reported the same defect by online form and got an email saying "referred this to our service engineers".

On Tue 16 Jan I got an email with "Thank you for your inquiry. Looking at the picture someone has taken the seat pad off this chair and is using the metal under the foam cushion as a point of reference. There is a tolerance with all the parts on these chairs and no chair will be 100% level. It’s impossible to tell from the pictures if this is the case.  If you would like us to assess the chair then please return it to our warehouse marking the package with reference number 1826764 our warranty only covers parts".

The name and position of the writer was not given.

"There is a tolerance with all the parts on these chairs and no chair will be 100% level" is true but disingenuous. This chair was clearly less level than it should be.

Given the tardy service, the lack of constructive response and the difficulty of packing the chair (I did not have the original packing), I fixed the chair myself.
