Written by the company

Absurd and excessive cancellation period

I am extremely disappointed with how FNV handles membership cancellations.

What I find absurd is that FNV has a three‑month cancellation period, which is not clearly specified upfront when you become a member, before signing up. This is already excessive, but it gets worse: the notice period only starts on the first day of the following month. This means that if you cancel just after the 1st of the month, you effectively end up paying almost four months instead of three.
In my case, I stopped my membership without being aware that this would still result in additional paid months. Had this information been made explicit, I would have never become a member.

A long cancellation period combined with poor transparency feels unfair and misleading. For an organisation that claims to represent workers, this practice is frankly unreasonable and outdated.

FNV: THE BIGGEST SCAM IN THE NETHERLANDS—GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!

The FNV is a deceptive racket that collected membership fees for two years under the false pretense of legal security, only to provide ZERO professional assistance when actually needed.

Their "legal help" is a fraudulent joke, consisting of unqualified staff with no legal background who literally Google information while I was on the line.

Despite paying for expert representation, I received nothing but useless advice available for free to anyone with an internet connection, even wrong advice most of the time! I solved my own problems with my employer using free AI, including the issue that FNV told me I had a weak case that I cannot win.

They have ignored my formal complaints and refused to refund my money for services they never rendered, proving they are the biggest scam in the Netherlands.

FNV is a scam selling false sense of security, and they are the ones who took advantage of me, not my employer!

YOU PROVIDED NOTHING OF VALUE, GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!!

In my case, I received very good and fast help. Although my case lasted several months, I had ongoing contact with the lawyer, professional advice, and very friendly service. As a result, it led to a positive resolution of my case. I am extremely grateful to FNV for the help I received. I highly recommend!

The employee was professional

The employee was professional, supportive and very clear in communication. I received good guidance about my rights and the legal process. This made it much easier to deal with a stressful situation with my employer.

Dear Silva, it is part of our terms and conditions that when you need legal assistance during the first 6 months of your membership, we will ask you to stay as a member for atleast 2 years. That has nothing to do with honesty or dishonesty, it is up to you to decide if you want to agree to that.

Kind regards, FNV

Poor legal advice

I asked for their help for a dismissal case. They assigned me an advisor and she reviewed the case, then she went on vacation at a crucial time so another person was in charge of my case, then for no reason a third person took my case and I had to explain to her my entire case in very few days.

My whole case was sustained on a single claim and I collected the relevant documents for this. I lost the case. When my first legal advisor returned from vacation she said that winning a case on that single claim was unfeasible. I could have taken a good settlement agreement instead of following FNV’s advice so I ended up losing significant money in the process.

I think this works well as a work issues information desk for people with no access to the internet but for real labour disputes it’s better to pay a proper professional and not waste your money.

Dear Arijana, the reason why you were still receiving bills is due to the fact that we have a notice period of 3 months. We received your cancellation on the 27th of May, meaning your membership would be terminated at the end of the month August.

If you had cancelled your membership one day sooner, the membership would have been terminated with immedeate effect as you have a right to do so within 14 days after your membership application. Because of this, our membership department has decided to make an exception for you and to terminate your membership with immedeate effect.

Dear Bartosz, our notice period is part of our terms and conditions which are freely accessible on our website. This has nothing to do with thievery and scammery, next time make sure you know what the terms and conditions are before you submit for a membership.

Bad experience

As stated by many other users, they are there to take your money away. The fee is now almost €21, which is insane! I have asked to cancel my subscription and turns out you need to let them know 3 months in advance. So, here I am, unemployed and paying for those last 3 crappy months. Unless you feel you will need some legal assistance at some point, it is useless to join them.
