Football Road Trip

Communication was awful to begin with. But once we got on the trip our group of 10 had a really good time. Staff went out their way to make sure we had a good time. I would definitely use them again.

Very good with just a couple of improvements needed

Our group had a really enjoyable time on the trip, there were negatives which ill get to (but i think with feedback they can be sorted to improve trips even more in the future)

The games we were due to watch were changed due to covid cancelling our original trips so we felt no anger towards FRT for this, just a little disappointed, however we were given the schalke vs stuttgart game which was incredible to say the least, atmosphere was unbelievable from the start to the finish and a great experience, the PSV game was nothing compared to schalke but still very good and we enjoyed the day and the compensation of €40 to spend in shop because of the inconvenience was also a nice touch.

Unfortunately they only had 1 guide available between 3 busses but Ali did an incredible job under the circumstances and was a great laugh to have on the bus and made our experience even better.

The negatives that I would point out, firstly a few things that we were advertised didnt actually happen for example the PlayStation not being on board, and secondly, the organisation and communication, it seemed like a lot of things were being made up on the spot and the communication was very much lacking at times when they were made up, though it didn't make too much difference to us (we only really needed to know meeting times because as a group we had a few who had been to the cities before and we went out on our own accord anyway) but the meeting times were different every day to what was on the itinerary as well as the plan of action being changed to what we told on the day, as I say it didn't really affect us to badly but could see how other groups different to us could get easily frustrated with this and I think if I had one advice for FRT to improve there customer experience then that would be it.

Other than that we all had a great time at the matches and cities and would 100% go again

Enjoyed the trip in spite of Football Road Trips

Where to start with this company? First of all, the good points: Our driver Ali was an absolute diamond, extremely friendly and always attentive to our requests to stop. Secondly, the Dortmund game was fantastic, unbelievable atmosphere and a memory made with wonderful friends.

And now for the negatives, strap yourselves in for a long list:

1) The lack of organisation: This could be organised into several sub sections, but warning signs were a complete lack of communication until 10pm before the day of the trip, telling us that our whole itinerary had changed and we would only be attending one game after having forked out nearly £800 for the promise of two European games ( Antwerp in no way replaced Ajax, but it was something at least)

2) The false promises, starting with the "Luxury" vehicles advertised on the website. Luxury is doing ALOT of heavy lifting to put it mildly, with some ridiculous assertion that ALL of the advertised PS4s magically stopped working the week before our trip despite other reviews suggesting this is a longstanding problem.

3) The lack of a "bespoke" experience. This point kind of joins onto my first point, but I emailed the company 4 times to ask them to provide non alcoholic options in the drinks fridges on the bus but it was only after I complained in person that these options were provided to me. Not every single football fan consumes copious amounts of alcohol, some of us were genuinely there for the football. Throughout the trip, it felt like the operators were trying to ply us with alcohol to make up for ( or make us forget) the complete lack of organization and value for money we were receiving. For some on the trip, this would've been OK but not for me.

I do however want to thank FRT for inspiring us. First of all, we managed to find a game on Saturday ( Fortuna Dusseldorf II vs Koln II) and we will be planning our own trip in the future.

Shout out to Craig who was the only guide to conduct himself with any kind of professionalism throughout the trip.

Poorly ran company with next to no organisation

We had booked this trip over two years ago and covid had pushed it back until the 17/02/23 which was no fault of Football road trips. We had paid getting close to £800 per person to watch two matches (Dortmund & Ajax) and have three nights out in different countries.

We found out less than a month before we went that a fixture had clashed meaning we could only see one of the two games which we understood wasn't their fault and things like this can happen in football. Once we had found this out I heard nothing from them and every time I tried to chase to find out what is happening I just got told something along the lines of "we're working on it when we know something we'll let you know." This continued until a matter of days before the trip where after sending yet another email I was told that we would be going to watch Antwerp FC. Whilst being a long stretch from seeing the likes of Ajax I thought to myself "Great, at least it's all sorted and we have two games of football to watch."

Two days before departure I thought I best check where we were meant to be getting picked up from as all I knew was St Pancras and I don't know London in the slightest, the reply I got was along the lines of "I'm not sure but I'm sure you'll find it, we haven't had anyone not be able to" which I'm sure was correct but you'd think they'd have a pre arranged pin drop or a phone number like I asked for. I finally heard something from our rep Craig on the Thursday night about 11pm the night before we were meant to leave saying there has been a problem with the Antwerp game and we will only be watching one game. Obviously finding this out a matter of hours before we we're meant to be on the bus gave us no other option than to just be okay with it. He promised us that it would be made up to us though and it most certainly wasn't. We got bought some beers to make up for not going to one of the games which is the entire reason that all of us spent all the money in the first place, so for not going to a game I got a single pint which is the same as a few others as didn't fancy drinking too much. (I'll give Craig his due though he was brilliant, had so much to deal with on this trip due to not having correct help and other guides caring more about getting drunk than doing their job).

Another thing which was promised and advertised in the itinerary was that there would be playstations to play on the journey and when asked about they said that there had been a problem on the last tour and could no longer have them on the bus but believe they are still being advertised now for future trips.

Another big downer was the fact that we arrived in Amsterdam already later than expected and all got off the bus and walked to the hotel to then be stood outside for about 15 mins to be told we were at the wrong hotel and had to load back onto the busses for a 20 min journey to 3 star hotel which was a 15 minute taxi journey into the centre (The trip was sold as 3 x 4 star hotels). By the time we had checked in and put the bags into the hotel it was gone 12:30am so by the time you got a taxi and into town a lot of stuff would be shutting plus needing to leave at 9:30am the same morning doesn't leave you with much time.

I have given the company two stars when I feel like only giving them the one, this is for two reasons. The actual game we did get to see was the most incredible football match I have ever been to and another star for Craig which whilst it was a total s**t show I can appreciate how hard it was on him getting moaned at by 100 odd people.

I do believe we should have an offer of something back for the experiences on the trip that we missed.

Fully Avoid This Company

Simply one of the worst holidays I have ever been on.

This company change things last minute, falsely advertise what they can provide and make awful excuses which sound like blatant lies.

The organisation and communication from the company to the customers on the trip is completely inadequate. The only positive from the trip was the 5-6 hours in Dortmund, everything else was a waste of time. No electronics in the “luxury travel”, three star hotels instead of the luxury four star hotels and putting publicly free events such as carnivals over actual football matches.

Avoid this at all costs, and if you have already paid your money to this sham of a company, good luck!

Major disappointment

Went on a trip last weekend (17th / 20th) and all I can say is it was a complete sham

No communication even up to the day before we left,
It’s advertised as luxury minibus with on board PlayStations , well they certainly are NOT luxury when full up and there were NO PlayStations on board

We paid and we’re promised 2x games of football and we only got to see 1 game and apparently they got us another game but that got cancelled a day before we left for trip (ironic)

We have to pay extra at hotels on taxes and taxis getting to hotels (even when we were dropped off at a hotel we were not even booked in at)

Constant lies and a very disappointing trip with these people.

FRT - Dortmund.

We went at the weekend on a FRT, the experience was brilliant. There was changes to the plans but as we know football we know this is uncontrollable.
We lost 1 of our 2 planned games due to those at Sky Tv and are grateful for that, obviously disappointed but it’s unavoidable and the lads tried to source other games. European football doesn’t have the depth English football has, so when people say ‘just sort a third tier game out or something’ you realise you’re asking for Amateur football in those countries.
We as a group took the changes and turned them positive, Lovely city of Bruges and great time out around Düsseldorf, what a city to be in.

The buses had adequate room, driver kept us entertained with music selections. Driver was five star on our bus and we felt very lucky to have had him, proper top bloke.

Dortmund experience was the best football experiance I’ve ever had in my life. Puts every English club to shame and words will never do it justice on just how good. The guides explained about timings for the ground to get the best experience and they were absolutely spot on. We felt had we not had that advice we would have been massively disappointed and struggled to enjoy the atmosphere.

Football travel is the most unpredictable travel you can organise and we take our hats off to the lads who have that stress on their shoulders.

Will definitely be returning for another trip.

Thank you FRT

Poorly ran company with no respect or organisation.

Our experience was not what was described or satisfactory apart from the Dortmund game. We booked a few years ago and covid had pushed us back until Feb 2023, we paid for 2 games, paying a premium for Ajax and Dortmund. We found out like a month before the trip the games had clashed due to rescheduling which was annoying but understandable (baring in mind the game was Antwerp so a big drop from ajax). Then a day before our trip we had the rescheduled game also be cancelled which was very frustrating but again there it was understandable why.

However the communication about this and simply the fact they offered no compensation for this other than 2 beers is something that doesn’t sit right with me or any of us as a group. Simply offer something of value or give us some money back.

I understand it’s probably been hard on them in some ways but the fact we paid almost £800 for 3 days on a bus (which had no playstations as advertised) and 1 game at dortmund seems so unreasonable.

Maybe it’s just our luck with everything that happened but I don’t seem why they can’t offer us something back as all of us on our bus feel like we were completely uncared for and not respected to how we should have.

I would avoid them in the future 100% simply down to the little respect and not seeming to communicate clearly at all and just having little to no organisation. if they can’t handle 100+ people don’t allow that many people on the tour

Watch out for the “hiccups”

This trip was a disaster from start to finish (apart from the actual lads on the trip, the organisation seemed non existent)

Departure was late because one of the drivers had phoned in sick, one group left about 40 minutes after everyone else and it gave them about 10 minutes in duty free/food because back on bus for Eurostar

The website advertises that the luxury travel has onboard PlayStations with Fifa 22. There were no PlayStations, TV or DVDs on board, the explanation given was that the PlayStations had over powered the electrics and the decision was made last week to remove them from the buses, however, looking at other reviews it appears this has been going on longer than this trip (note website still says they have PlayStations on board)

Before we’d even set off, the itinerary was constantly changing, with less than 24 hours notice we were now staying in Bruges instead of Brussels but our tickets for Antwerp match had been cancelled because of a capacity reduction, something which I have no idea is true or not but if true, surely you don’t find out the day before the game.

Arrival in Brugge and (you’ll notice a pattern) the itinerary had changed again and the hotel we were staying at was the Ibis Centrum, self rated 3* hotel, wasn’t in any way luxury and made a premier inn look like luxury. Rooms were basic and dated

Bruges is nice, some good places to eat and drink - but we came for football.

Due to the game tickets being cancelled, we ended up in Düsseldorf early, there was a good festival on and had a few drinks and good night out. The hotel was decent, but again rates itself as 3* on booking.com and didn’t look like it was in the safest area (again a last minute change to the hotel from the original 4* one) which looked more central.

Dortmund game was good and tickets were in yellow wall. After game headed towards Amsterdam where it went from bad to worse

Arrived at the hotel and it became apparently quite quickly there weren’t rooms booked at this hotel for 60 lads. About 45 minutes passes when we were told our actual hotel was a 30 minute walk across Amsterdam close to midnight. The anger and frustration was evident across 7 coaches as it was just excuse after excuse. Arrived at hotel and again, clearly not a 4* hotel and even the key cards advertise a 3* hotel. By the time we got in our room it was after midnight and next to no where open to get something to eat.

Felt sorry for the lads that were put up to front the questions from 60 really frustrated lads and the organiser couldn’t get out of the hotel quick enough when people wanted answers. Organiser even left a voice message in the group and told one groups he was leaving them in Amsterdam.

We paid £700-£800 for 2 games and 3 nights in 4* hotels (again we came for football, not so much a booze up). We got 1 game and 3 nights in 3* hotels. After reading the previous reviews these hiccups appear all too often and the the vibe I got was that boozed up lads would just accept it because we had tickets in the yellow wall and these hiccups couldn’t be helped

I’m not sure how hotels can change at the last minute unless they are not booked in the first place?

Happy to discuss appropriate refund for something that was sold as something it wasn’t

A class weekend away touring Europe

A class weekend away touring Europe, getting to see a 6-0 win at PSV Eindhoven and a 3-0 win at FC Köln and of course all of the drinks and laughs inbetween. Would highly recommend to those looking for a trip away with your mates.

Football, beer and friendship

This trip has been one of the best I have ever been on. I booked the trip just coming out of lockdown so to finally go on the trip was such a relief.
Craig our guide has been phenomenal. He has worked so hard to ensure everyone in our group is having a good time. Watching Dortmund play on the yellow wall was worth the price alone! Had a great night out in Dusseldorf and an even better one in Amsterdam! Marek our driver has been a star too and the other lads on our coach have been great. Myself and my 18 year old son have felt part of the group from the get go. If you love football, beer and making new friends this is a perfect trip for you.

Road trip your not forget

A really good experience and a cracking road trip. Was organised well and a few issues occurred but Craig the Guide dealt with very well. It’s an experience I will never forget and will be returning for another great road trip. Dortmund ground was insane and been in the Yellow Wall was electric. Thank you for amazing time. There was ex footballers with us and told a few story’s, really nice having them share life as a pro footballer, they were really good sports and The accommodation for each place was amazing. Perfect weekend

Perfect weekend.

Me and a friend travelled from Birmingham for this trip and it was fantastic! Travelling through Belgium, Germany and Holland spending the last night in Amsterdam.
Being part of the yellow wall at Dortmund was amazing and we were more than well looked after by guide Craig and FRT owner Kai. This trip was worth every penny and we plan to book again for another road trip.
The aspect of the trip we were dreading before hand was the travelling on the bus, but with guests Wes Brown and Lee Martin on board sharing stories from their time in football as well as complimentary beers and music playing it was actually really enjoyable and the time flew.

Thanks again to everyone at FRT especially Craig and Kai who were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us to make sure our experience was memorable and enjoyable.

Watching 2 games in 4 days, having nights out in Brussels, Dusseldorf and Amsterdam in one trip was unbelievable.

We will be seeing you again soon, I hope!

Absolutely amazing!!

Fantastic weekend! Literally blew my expectations out of the water. Can’t say enough about these guys. From start to finish they were super helpful. Answered all questions and nothing was too much trouble. Kai (who owns FRT) is a great guy and we had him on our trip with us as we were in the yellow wall at the Dortmund game (which was out of this world) and he’s awesome. He’d been in touch with me directly before the trip to keep me up to date with everything as well, so we knew exactly what was going on. We also had Wes Brown and Lee Martin with us on our bus, at the games and on nights out and they were both awesome! So much fun had with them! Craig our guide was fantastic, always available and, again, nothing was too much trouble and super easy to get on with and have a great time with! This is an experience that I will not forget! Absolutely amazing weekend!! Will definitely be doing another trip with these guys in the near future! No doubt about that at all!!

Awesome trip!

Great experience with Football Road Trips, getting to see Dortmund vs Bayern in the yellow wall being the highlight (a 95th minute equaliser made this absolutely epic). All well organised with plenty of stop offs and beers - and having ex-footballers (on our trip we had Lee Martin and Wes Brown) with us on the buses and having beers was class, getting to chat to them about their careers and hear all their stories.
Kai and Craig were both great, everything well organised and a great laugh - you can tell they’re experienced with these trips and know what the lads want!

Went with the lads for my stag do

Went with the lads for my stag do. Pulled out all the stops and had the best time in Brussels, Düsseldorf and Amsterdam. The yellow wall was an experience of a lifetime and getting to spend my stag do with Lee Sharp was top. Kai is a top bloke and really knows what the lads want. All the hotels were perfect, what little time we spent in them. Our game got moved on the Sunday for AZ Alkmaar but Kai sorted the lads out with beers and we had a brilliant time round Amsterdam instead. Travelling on the coaches seemed daunting at first with the amount of time we were set to spend on them but regular stop offs and plenty of beers and good company made the trip fly past. All in all, a brilliant time spent with the lads. Cheers!
