Terrible service. They sold products they didnt have enough stock for and it took them four days to get back to me to advise. No intention on sourcing further stock to fulfil the order.
All they say is "We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you".
This may be the worst service I have ever received.
Don't bother with them.
I ordered an gift from Forbidden planet on the 19th November and gave them my card details. I was told that my item would be shipped when it came back into stock. No estimations for delivery, just order and wait. Today I receive an email stating it's in stock, but there's a problem with my card, so I added another payment card (not using their instructions as they didn't work) and told them to try again. Then receive a cancellation email as per company policy. So I have reordered the item (using the same registered card on my account) and joy of joys have to pay £1.99 for delivery, which wasn't applicable to my previous order for the same item. I had replied to the email and contacted the sales department. Since waiting so long for the item, I now have to pay more, all because they don't check the emails you send or offer help when you ask. Payment went through without a problem, but I wish I'd just got from anywhere else. I am loathe to give them any custom now. Buyer beware!!
Service was excellent, arrived early, and product is fantastic, I only had trouble placing the order due to glitches on the website.
The items arrive in well packaged parcels, however, when pre-ordering an item the items either arrive later than when other shops are getting and sending them out or they mysteriously no longer have any in stock even when a pre-order has been made months before (in one case 4 months). If this keeps up then I'm afraid to say that they will be losing my custom. Sure the items are a little cheaper, however, once P+P is added along with the late, or no arrival, then I'd rather pay a few pounds more and get the items elsewhere and on time.
I ordered two Funko Pop's on Sunday (they were by far the cheapest place to buy them} and they were then dispatched on Tuesday and I received them on Thursday. They came in perfect condition and to my surprise one of them had the exclusive sticker on (the website says that they don't always come with the sticker). I have already a pre-order for some Funko Pop's due to be released in December and will definitely use them again.
Not only did it take over a month for a "In stock product" but it came with no packing therfore came with dents. Just terrible. Never again.
I have an ongong subscription and as an avid collector I lke to keep my comics in as mint condition as possible so buy off the shelf for reading purposes and have them sent out sealed and somewhat protected for collecting however recetly the entire collection of Civil War II have all been delivered with creases and damage to the corners, whilst I appreciate they package them in a strong cardbord envelope the first four editions where stuffed into one bag and the next issue was damaged in the corners I'm very dissapointed as I would have thought a high profile comic and collectables store would have a bit more respect for there cmics than stuffing them into bags and leaving them tho float about in the envelope to get damaged.
Another issue is the Glasgow store itselfis always cluttered and boxes of high priced items floating around and being in a wheelchair and already having to negotiated the slightly high kerb to get in I then have to spend five minutes stacking boxes neatly to allow me to get to certain areas of the store without causing damage to the merchandise if a customer takes this much care and respect for your stock so should you.
I decided to order som Pop! vinyl figures at Forbidden Planet, as they aren't very easy to come by here in Denmark. After selecting the ones I wanted on their site, I found that it was unable to give me a shipping quote and that shipping would be charged later when the package was ready to be shipped. I have never encountered a website before that was unable to supply a price for shipping when ordering. Even when I wrote them to ask what shipping would be for 7 figures, they answered that they couldn't tell me until I ordered, paid and then would receive the shipping price via a separate invoice. I was at least told that I could always cancel my order if I found the shipping unreasonable. So I ordered.
I then receive the shipping invoice and it is for more than £16 for shipping the 7 figures to Denmark! I was close to cancelling at this stage, but as I wasn't able to find all the figures anywhere else, so I paid. The next day however, I receive yet another shipping invoice for almost £3 MORE for shipping a figure which apparently wasn't included in the first shipping quote, even though the email with the invoice listed all 7 figures on my order in it!
At this point I write them again, and ask why I have to pay the extra shipping and why they just didn't package that one figure with the rest of them, as their site clearly states that nothing has shipped to me yet. I also ask that they either send me all 7 figures for the £16 in shipping as that should more than cover it, or they could go ahead and cancel my order all together.
I get a very vague reply that the last single figure has been cancelled. No mention of the other 6 figures and the status of them, or how they plan to reimburse me for that one figure, as I had already paid for it! I once again write them, and am then told that they have managed to stop my first package with the 6 figures form leaving their premises, as if they have done me favour in doing so.
So instead of sending me all figures, whereas one just needed to be put into a package that already contained 6 figures, they decide to cancel my entire order?! I have never experience a more bizarre way of doing business in my life!
I further had to write them several times in order to get both my original total for the figures, as well as the £16+ in postage, refunded to my account, but it was finally done.
I have now ordered most of the figures at another UK site, where they may not have all the ones I wanted in stock, but at least they only charge £3.50 in postage to Denmark no matter how many you order. And I will never even consider ordering at Forbidden Planet again.
I have ordered a book off of you "Joker - A visual history". I placed the order well over a month ago and still haven't received anything.....Am I ever going to receive my book?? :'(
Use this website as my main goto for comics and find the choice, and price very reasonable which is the main basis of any online shop
The problem however is that 1) the deliveries can be extremely slow and 2) if you place multiple orders a week (which I tend to do based on new variants and additions being listed daily) things can get very messy and near on impossible to keep track of.
I try to keep my orders in some form of release date order so that everything can be dispatched around the same time but this isnt physically possible all of the time. As a result orders with say 10 comics in are having 5+ dispatches or alternatively arent being processed long after release while they wait for the additional future releases. This also occurs with items placed on subscription where comics have been released, in stock and then out of stock and a 2nd print has been released before my 1st print has even been charged/ allocated/ dispatched. Prime example of these are DC's new Rebirth comics which were ordered months ago. Virtually every issue and variant ordered is still awaiting process and if I'm being realistic I dont expect to get these given the fact they have already sold out!
From a ForbiddenPlanet viewpoint I would have no idea how to solve this problem for customers but its certainly something that needs improving
I used to love going to Forbidden Planet, it was the highlight of my shopping day. However, I have completely changed my tune.
After spending £15 on a Harley Quinn Comic for for little sister's birthday, I realised I had purchased the wrong one. I went back to the shop asking for a refund, which they refused me because it was my own error.
My issue is, it was not disclaimed to me at the time of purchase that my item was non-refundable, which is unacceptable.
I them attempted to exchange my item for the right comic, which was £5 cheaper than the one I originally bought. Forbidden planet refused to give me the £5 difference in an extremely rude manner so I was forced to find something else that I didn't want for that price in the store.
My advice to you is to make sure you're 100% sure you want your purchase, because you will not get your money back.
I've purchased of this site few times can't knock em my purchases come well packed they always keep me up to date on dispatch and expected eta and there few items here that are by far cheaper then other sites overall my experience has been flawless
Following an issue with a rare item that arrived broken item some time ago which involved the need to destroy it fully to get a replacement, even though there was no replacement in stock to offer me and wouldn't ever be in future, I decided to avoid Forbidden Planet for future purchases. Roll around to now, there is one particular item that isn't available anywhere else and Forbidden Planet had it for a fair price so I thought I would give them another chance. I really wish I didn't!
Payment was taken immediately, of course, but the item took an entire week to dispatch (this was an in stock item, by the way) and it was only sent after I contacted them to ask what was going on. Forbidden planet finally shipped my order and I have waited in two days for it to arrive, only for my tracking to update and say delivery has been attempted but I wasn't home. I certainly hadn't missed the doorbell, so I phoned DHL to see what the problem was, to find package has been labelled to the wrong address!
I had to have the delivery readdressed and now I have to wait in for yet another day for something that should have arrived within days of me placing my order. I live on a street named Marine Drive and it has instead been addressed to someone in Marina Apartments, and it wasn't even addressed to the same house number as my address either! If it was the right number but the wrong building, it may have been an understandable mistake, but for it to be completely the wrong number too? Clearly, the staff don't care enough to read the order properly. A week to dispatch to the wrong address? I am not happy!
I work for an online retailer, and I have found that most customers generally only leave feedback in the event of a negative experience. This isn't to say that their incorrect, they're probably justified (mostly), although not enough customers voice their opinions when they have had a great online experience. If this wasn't the case, I am confident that Forbidden Planet would average 4-4.5 stars. Personally, I have been using them for 18 months or so, I am somewhat of a 'nube' when it comes to comics, although I have placed many orders since I started with them. I have always found their ETA's, description and automated emails very accurate. I have dealt with them via email also, and have found their advisers to be very pleasant and helpful. Their prices are about average, although I would recommend FP due to their reliability and slick mobile app. I wish that I could give more stars, keep up the good work! Danny
My experience with this company has been so bad that I thought I would leave a review to warn future customers.
Placed an order with this company 4 months ago. They said the product was "in stock", however after an email to the company I found out it was a pre-order. After sending an email and having no response, I ended up opening a case on Paypal. Low and behold I get a response straight away telling me that the item has been dispatched. When I asked about the problem they seemed more concerned about closing the Paypal, rather than why I wasn't happy.
I still have yet to receive the order and will also never order off this company again. Poor customer service.
I've ordered several things from forbiddenplanet.co.uk and I can't find any problems with them. I've received every order usually within a week, if an item is out of stock I've received it within a month which I think is reasonable. I'm very happy with the service they provide and will definitely be using them again!
I read the reviews shortly after ordering and wished I hadn't and was wanting to cancel my order. 2 of the 3 pop vinyls I ordered were here in about 7 days but I am still waiting on an order. I have been told it will be dispatched as soon as it comes in stock.
Placed an order recently and, after reading some of the negative reviews, thought that I may have made a mistake. However, my experience was perfect - I received a quick, helpful response to any emails I sent, and the order was despatched the week after my order was placed, as promised. Would definitely use again!
A year ago I bought a pop figure. After 6 weeks it did not arrive. The listing stated it was in stock when in fact was it not only out of stock but they had no idea when it is likely to be available. One year later I am still waiting on this item. The only reason I haven't demanded a refund is because the item I bought for £8.99 has become rare and is selling in excess of £60 on ebay and amazon. I've had en email today saying it will be in stock at the end of Feb, funnily enough I got the same email a month ago stating end of Jan. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
I ordered 3 Vinyl Idolz figures from this site. All 3 were shown as pre order items and all 3 arrived (in 2 shipments) within a month of the order date. I have just placed another order. Hopefully the service will be as good and trouble free this time.
16th April 2016 - My second order was for 3 items that were pre order. I item arrived fine and I got 2 emails from customer services advising me when the remaining 2 items should arrive. Second experience with them is ok so far.
