Rotten customer service, rotten fruit, misleading advertising

This complaint relates to Fruit Galore UK online gift service. No response received after two weeks and the product delivered contained rotten and bruised fruit and the overall package did not remotely match that advertised on the website. Details:
1. Lack of response to refund request made via text, email and calling the business mobile number (following the company refund request guidelines). Zero response after two weeks apart from automated email response.
2. Some fruit was rotten. I have photo evidence
3. Fruit basket did not match likeness of that advertised in the photo on the website. A lidded woven basket was advertised on the website. What was delivered was of far inferior quality with no lid and not of similar material or quality
4. General quality of overall package was poor and felt cheap despite the price and crucially did not match likeness of that which is advertised in the photos on the website.I have photos evidencing this.
5. Cheese and oatcakes did not resemble that advertised in the photo on the website
6. Some smaller items of fruit were missing like the grapes

Very very poor

Very very poor. My cousin in San Francisco sent this a basket for Christmas.
At least a third of the fruit is rotten and the small chocolate box is crushed. I can’t complain vis her account as I don’t want to appear ungrateful .
Shocking
Since then I have spoken to the company who 100% blame the courier service they use.
In my opinion they should change companies. They will now send me a replacement in the New Year- waiting and seeing what I receive.,
Update- January 10th - nothing received

We wouldn’t normally respond to these reviews as we deal with SO many orders successfully and many many returning customers but in this case we are going to as totally sick of this unreasonable behaviour from people.

Firstly how stupid does it sound that we package up rotten fruit and crushed boxes of chocolates and ship them off to customers, really! This is what I received in an email basically saying it was impossible for this to have happened in transit and that I should just changed my courier... it’s just absurd that someone thinks this…. unfortunately couriers do sometime miss handle our boxes and if you know anything about fruit once one piece is damaged it reeks havoc on other items incredibly quickly due to a gas which is let off. The fact the chocolates were crushed would totally reiterate that it’s been dropped most likely. After all the couriers are only human and can sometimes make mistakes especially around Christmas time when they’re dealing with literally hundreds of deliveries a day.

We have been in contact with the person who placed the order as our premises has been flooded due to the Thames breaking its bank, so the reason no parcel is received is due to NO parcels being shipped at all. But you won’t be receiving any parcel as the sender has told us not to resend the hamper.
It’s people like this who makes running our small business feel like why do we bother to go to so much effort to be shot down in process of doing so.. mistakes happen, stuff gets damaged but we in the small times this happens deal with it accordingly.
We hope you have a wonderful day !

Un-met promised delivery date

Ordered a fruit basket as a get well gift for my daughter and was scheduled for a delivery on a Tuesday (as website said deliveries only between Tuesday-Friday). For starters, I never got a confirmation of order/details of order. By Wednesday, my daughter still has not receive the basket and I had to email them to ask what was going on. The person replied that the courier mislaid my gift and was really sorry and would send another one out tomorrow which would be delivered Friday (it was only by Thursday that I got a confirmation of order). By Friday night there was still no delivery!! Nor any email of a tracking of the gift! The gift finally arrive on a Saturday morning. The 1 star that this company got was for atleast sending good looking fruits and the fruits weren’t in a bad condition/shape. Or else I wish I could have given them no stars. You can imagine how upset I am as the gift is for my daughter’s get well as I cannot be there with her for her recovery and on top of being worried for my daughter I have to deal with such bad service from this company.

Utter rubbish

Ordered a quite expensive fruit basket for delivery to my elderly mum as a birthday present.

Despite the claims of ‘next day delivery uk-wide’ and ordering the gift 8 days before the actual birthday date, the basket finally arrived 3 days late.

Despite several phone calls, little help was given apart from claims of ‘Well, we’ve dispatched it as promised’. When the basket was delivered half the fruit was not only beyond edible, but had become rotten.

After the event I have tried to contact the company over phone, email and through their website but have been totally ignored.

If it was possible to give them less than 1 star I would…. Stuff happens, but their total disregard for after-care given their foul-up is what really sticks in the craw. My advice ? Save yourself £60 on this shower/the rubbish that they pass off as gifts and buy yourself a train ticket to actually visit your mother in person.

Ordering a fruit basket for a relative in hospital

Ordered a fruit basket for my father-in-law who is in hospital and we live overseas, and 5 weeks later it hasn't been received. Was sent to the hospital, but he never received it. Advised the company and they responded that it had been delivered and wasn't really their issue. A month later I was advised they are not on the hospitals approved list and that's why it wasn't given to the patient. Five weeks later, still waiting. Was told it would be delivered latest on Thursday (to my husband who is now there to support his father) and now have an aggressive supplier who wants to deliver on Friday, when no one will be home, despite assuring me that it would be delivered to my husband at the latest on Thursday. So long story short, if you want to send your loved one a gift in hospital, these are not the people to use. Shocking customer service, with very aggressive responses.

Sadly it seems it is impossible to please some people. Lorna ordered a lovely basket for her father in law which was delivered to the hospital the next day. Several weeks later she informed us that it had not been delivered & we sent proof it had & that it had been signed for. We then keeping her informed regularly as we tried to find out what had happened at the hospital as we had done our bit timeously & efficiently.
It became clear the hospital had "lost" the parcel so we agreed even though we had done our bit to replace it with a new basket. Lorna then asked if this basket could be changed from fruit to different products we do not normally supply. To keep the peace we agreed to do this as it was good business practice & wrote saying it would be sent out on one of two days when we could fit this one off order into our busy schedule. She replied accepting this advice & when she received notification that the parcel had been sent out by us on the day she had been informed it would be in black & white she then wrote stating she wanted it sent another day! However Lorna's husband rang the number we had given Lorna and he said there was no problem with receiving it on the agreed date. No problem therefore from Lorna's husband whose father was the recipient and who could not have been more appreciative.
Far from providing shocking customer service we went above & beyond to help Lorna providing a replacement basket - more expensive than what she had originally ordered - delivered to an address away from the hospital to ensure delivery. She was kept informed throughout & I find her review both deeply upsetting as it is so untrue & every reply from us far from being aggressive was factual & informative.
I really believe we could not have done any more to help Lorna & cannot believe what she has written. We hope & believe if there is any sense of fair play in the world Lorna will retract this review.
We send out hundreds of delicious fruit parcels every week & to receive this untrue review frankly is a real kick in the teeth for a small family run business that always tries hard to please & in this case went far beyond normal customer relations.

Such a lovely selection of hampers on the site, and easy to navigate.

I thought I made a mistake on my order, when I
placed it...so I called the contact number and was met by Sophie who was amazing.

Ten out of ten for customer service and prompt and speedy efficiency rectifying my human error.

Cannot wait to see how the hamper goes down for the recipient.

Poor customer service

I have waited16 days before completing this review as I believed that would give the company enough time to acknowledge my complaint. I have much respect for staff and organisations who are on the frontline providing a service during the pandemic. This is greatly appreciated! However, I totally despise any business who disregards their responsibilities, or fail to be accountable when complaints are made by customers and responds by making excuses for their actions.
As I am shielding, my son Kerwyn, decided he would gift me fruits instead of flowers. A basket of fruits was purchased overseas for UK delivery. On delivery on January 5, 2021, some of the fruits were damaged. I immediately took photos of the damaged fruits and enclosed with an email to the company. This was followed with a phone call the same afternoon and spoke with Sophie, I explained I have sent her an email with the photo and she said she would wait to receive the email.
After not receiving a reply one week later, I tried to contact the company, the call went to voice mail, and a message left. This is over 2 weeks, since the delivery and my complaint, yet an acknowledgement of my complaint has not yet been forthcoming. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with online and would not recommend this company for the following reason. 1) Zero customer service. 2) Fruits arriving damaged, 3) A lack of trust.
Furthermore, the company mentioned in a reply to another customer, that due to Covid-19 the fruits are no longer being delivered in baskets but in boxes. My delivery box was large enough in size that a basket of fruits can easily be fitted into the box.

Highly recommended!!!!

I placed my orders between Christmas and New Year!
It was at a time when all the other companies announced that they would reopen after January 11, 2021, only!
The recipients were our business partners and my new friends south part of the UK, and all orders were delivered between January 5 and 7, which turned out to be quite acceptable to us.
I have got 4 absolutely rave reviews from addressees! It was obvious that the company was very overloaded, but they carefully answer every question, and where they thought they were delaying the order (mainly due to quarantine restrictions), they added additional fruits.
From my own experience, the company employs kind, responsible, and very committed people.
I wish them health, success, and success in 2021 in their beautiful business, which brings joy and a good mood!
I can sincerely recommend this company without any doubt!

Simply the best

Recently used them to have a basket delivered and was incredibly happy with the service. Presentation and quality of product was first class, better than some other competitors I used for a previous delivery. Highly recommend. The recipient was thrilled.

Wrong address on delivery

I placed an order for a fruit basket for my sister, who is recovering from major surgery. On the morning of delivery the DPD delivery driver called me to say he could not find my address. I asked him to confirm this, and he gave me a completely different address to what was on the order. Fruit Galore had provided him with this, and it is a good job he rang me to ask where I was as this would have been delivered to the wrong house completely. Although the house number was correct, the road was wrong.
I emailed them to explain what had happened and asked them to contact me. They never replied.
I could have perhaps forgiven them had they responded and apologised, however to not reply back to a customer when there has clearly been a problem is unprofessional and makes no business sense. I would not use them again.

**************************************************************
Further to Fruit Galore's reply below - the address WAS NOT 50 Westminster Avenue it was 50 Winchester Road which I have clearly put on the order and you have even just sent this to me via email! I am unsure as to how they have got this completely wrong. I find it interesting to read through your replies to bad reviews, you are highly defensive and do not own up to any mistakes that are clearly yours.
Fruit Galore - take a look at your feedback. It speaks volumes.

*************************************************
Seriously Fruit Galore? You’re suggesting I added the wrong post code to my sisters address, where she has lived for the last 10 years and I’ve sent numerous parcels and cards which have all arrived there no problem?
Both your customer service and attitude in general are an absolute disgrace. Your reviews are shocking, you have more bad reviews than good and rightly so. Truly one of the most unprofessional and rude companies I have ever had the misfortune to use. I would advise anyone considering Fruit Galore to AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Lisa is accusing us of sending this order to the wrong address but it was sent to the address she sent us Winchester Rd when it turns out the correct address is Westminster Road. This order was received on 6th December sent out on the 7th being the first workday ieMonday & delivered on Tuesday 8th. Her review was sent into trustpilot first thing on Wed 9th. She states we did not reply to her email but this was received out of hours. We are obviously extremely busy at this time of year & were annoyed & perplexed to receive this totally unnecessary bad review considering the whole mistake was of Lisa's own fault in giving us the incorrect address.
I would like to think that knowing the facts and having ignored 2 emails & 4 voice messages Lisa will now withdraw this review. After all it was our delivery firm who resolved the problem of the wrong address & the intended recipient received her gift on time.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well our customer still does not admit her error. Nor does she apologise. Instead she omits she gave us the incorrect full address for her friend. She gave the incorrect postcode. The one she gave us was for Westminster Rd. A completely different postcode would have given the correct address in Winchester Road but we worked on the postcode she gave us. Despite this our delivery people still managed to get the parcel to the correct person at the correct address on the day it was expected.
So despite all our efforts to rectify the incorrect information we were given we still got a one star review. That's gratitude for you!!
At the moment we are working flat out - and we are just a small family owned & run business - to keep pace with the amazing number of orders we are receiving. Last Monday we sent out a large number of orders all of which were delivered on the day our clients requested.
We, you will notice received 2 five star reviews on the same day as Miss Witherington gave us the one star before she had talked with us .
She further states we are "defensive". Well I would disagree. When we are at fault we bend over backwards to rectify the situation as our clients are vital to our business. However the point is that Miss Witherington should be ashamed to issue a one star review when everything she required us to do was completed - but with no thanks just scorn for her own mistake which we and our delivery team rectified.
Shame on you for trying to destroy the reputation undeservedly Miss Witherington of a small business that has kept delivering fruit baskets throughout both lockdowns and throughout this extraordinary year to all our clients old and new.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes we are suggesting you gave us the incorrect postcode. You gave S10 4ER which is Westminster Road when your sister's postcode is S10 4EE.

I think an apology is due plus a 5 star review for sending a lovely gift to the correct address when given the incorrect one by someone who DOES NOT know their sister's address after 10 years.!!!

You really do refuse to admit to your mistakes - Again shame on you.

A big thank you to Sophie Russell for sorting out a bit of a complication with a delivery, she replaced the basket of fruit immediately and was so helpful. Thank you for a very positive experience and I will definitely use your company in the future, the recipient of the fruit said the contents were 1st class.

Feedback on vegetable box

I would recommend this company without hesitation . I order a vegetable box on a regular basis and each delivery has not disappointed me. The variety of contents and quality of the products is excellent and so very fresh. The order arrives Each time on the exact delivery day. Sophie is very amenable and goes out her way to make sure that the order meets your needs . We didn’t like one item in our box and she offered to swap this for something else . In fact she will also do a bespoke box if you want this. Throughout the ordering and delivery process I am communicated with on a regular basis each time. AS I said at the beginning if you are thinking of using this company then definitely do - the standard of service and products won’t disappoint.

Still no contact after my review on 5 March - please read before ordering . The bad reviews on this site are absolutely my experience and this is the first poor review I have ever left for a company. Do not trust!

Update 25.5
Still no progress after sending the details again at their request on 10.5?

Details given as requested through trust pilot!! Photos and details previously given both by email and on Instagram. And you can still see my earlier review on 5th March on trust pilot with no response? And you are annoyed!!!

Tried to email you with screen print of details provided through trust pilot but that email address does not work! My order number as previously advised now several times is FG26432 from 20.2 so you can look up all my details and respond.

We were extremely surprised to receive this review as we have no record of the one Helen Everett alludes to.

We are sending many baskets every day throughout this pandemic & are very sad to receive anything negative amongst the many 5 star reviews we have received thank us for our continued service

We have asked the author to write to us so we can ascertain what went wrong and so whatever it was it can be rectified if possible.

Now getting annoyed by Helen Everett's comments on this website

We asked her on 15th to get in contact to say who she is as we have no contact details

She does nothing but moan without letting us know the facts so her complaint can be looked into

Not impressed Johnnie pp Fruitgalore

Still absolutely nothing from you so I really do not know what address you are sending your proof to but it is not to our email or website or indeed our instagram account

Trying to sort this out but you just seem to enjoy slagging the company which has managed to keep producing boxes of fruit throughout lockdown & not had one complaint, only 5* reviews

I really think you are enjoying this instead of trying to help yourself by resolving it. I have continually said that once I have proof of who you are, which order you are referring to & what your complaint is I will look into it but I can do nothing without your information as their is no record of you. What was the order number, what date did you order it who are you?

Last chance therefore send to info@fruitgaloreukonline.com or frankly I will consider legal action to stop you belittling my company.

Disappointing

I recently ordered my mother a box of vegetables and fruit from FruitGalore to help her during lockdown. Unfortunately the quality of some the contents was very poor, for example, the celery was so old it had to go straight in the compost bin.
Maybe the company are struggling to source their normal fresh produce during lockdown, but we were not told this. Whatever the reason, overall it was an expensive disappointment.

We were extremely disappointed to receive this review and would appreciate speaking to the complainer as you do not identify yourself.
All our orders are bought fresh on the day they are packed & posted so we cannot understand this complaint.
We also cannot understand why you did not contact us directly, before writing a one star review as we would happily have replaced any damaged fruit or vegetable.
There are bound to be some damage to some items in transport but old celery is frankly impossible.
We are working so hard to produce baskets in these difficult times & are very sad to receive a review of this sort.
We are putting out many many baskets every day & have been receiving many thank yous so really would like to talk with you as your review is damaging & disheartening to our staff who are risking their health every day to provide you with fruit & vegetables
