About Fundrise
Written by the company
Real estate — Fundrise is one of the 50 largest real estate private equity investors in the world by total annual deployment — deploying more than $1 billion of capital annually in 2021 and 2022. Our portfolio is largely composed of 20,000+ well-located residential units and eCommerce-centric industrial assets.
Venture — Investing in high-growth private technology companies has proven to be one of the best-performing strategies of the last 50 years. Our growth equity fund targets mid-to-late-stage companies in sectors like Modern Data Infrastructure, FinTech, and AI/ML.
Private credit — Skyrocketing interest rates have created broad credit market dislocations and a potential liquidity crisis. The result is arguably the most attractive, risk-adjusted private credit investing opportunity of the last few decades.
Building a better financial system
When our co-founders launched Fundrise back in 2012, our mission was to use technology to build a better financial system for investors like you. A lot has changed since then. Over 2 million people now use Fundrise and we manage nearly $3 billion in equity across real estate, private credit, and venture capital. It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come. But our mission remains the same. It’s what drives us to continue eliminating barriers, developing new investments, and working tirelessly to make this the best investing experience you’ve ever had. Thank you for joining us on this journey.

Nice returns.
The returns were OK
The returns were OK, nothing special, but getting your money back out is a real hassle. I have been trying for 6 months and only gotten part of my money returned. I keep trying and they keep making excuses. Beware!
Fundrise is a great platform
complaint against FUNDRISE
I am filing a formal complaint against Fundrise regarding the delay and lack of resolution in processing my request for full redemption/liquidation of my investment.
I initially submitted a redemption request in August of last year. At that time, I was informed that such requests are processed at the end of a quarter, and I would need to wait. When I followed up, I was then told the delay was due to a merger, and that I would need to wait further and resubmit my request after the process was complete.
Since then, I have made multiple attempts—via phone calls and emails—to recover my funds. Each time, I have received the same explanation citing the merger, with no clear timeline or resolution provided. It is now April, well beyond another quarter, and I still have not received my funds.
Today, when I attempted to submit another redemption request, I was met with a message stating that I have no shareholdings available for redemption. This is both confusing and concerning, as my investment of approximately $500 (made in 2018, with minimal returns) appears to be unaccounted for.
This situation has been extremely frustrating due to the prolonged delays, lack of transparency, and now the apparent disappearance of my redeemable shares.
I am requesting immediate clarification regarding the status of my investment and that my funds be released without further delay. If there are any issues affecting my account or shareholdings, I expect a clear and prompt explanation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Lack of regular updates when mergers…
Lack of regular updates when mergers don’t go as planned have completely turned me off from this company. Especially since I’ve held my funds for over 5 years and I’ve been trying to withdraw my funds for months. This company and ceo are clowns
Locked up my money + horrible returns
They've had my money locked up in a merger for almost a year now. On top of that, returns have been awful for the last 5 years. I've barely made a penny while public markets have soared. Be aware that their returns are very uneven and they may lock up your money for extended periods of time.
The returns are minimal at best
The returns are minimal at best. The process to liquidate and withdraw your funds are difficult to navigate. These business practices should be more heavily monitored and regulated.

It is a terrible company to invest your money. Just becareful. All my money is gone or transferred where I wont be able to access.
IMPOSSIBLE TO GET YOUR MONEY OUT
First, you cannot take your money out of Fundrise for 5 years. Then, when you want to, I contacted them in January, 2026, and I could NOT get a distribution until the end of April 2026. Now I find out that if any of your money is invested in a part that is going through a merger, you cannot get it until the merger is done. THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO HAVE YOUR OWN MONEY. DON'T INVEST WITH THEM.
They are a SCAM
WHEN YOU TRY AND SELL YOUR SHARES FUNDRISE MAKES EXCUSES LIKE, THEY ARE MERGING, IT HAS BE APPROVED, OR IT'S IN THE REDEMPTION PERIOD..JUST TO KEEP YOUR MONEY AND NOT GIVE IT BACK! IF YOUR A CURRENT SHAREHOLDER YOUR NOT GOING TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK...
Eyeopener
Wow, they certainly educated me on some many opportunities in our world. What a fun experience growing with Fundrise

I've invested $29,000 with Fundrise 5 years ago. They lie about performance, they overcharge on fees, they make it near impossible to get your money out, and charge huge penalties.

I invested 150K into an opportunity fund and I've lost and my return has been 8.8% in the negative. It's going on almost 10 years and all I get is the run arround with no solid answers.
Improvement Is Needed
Not a happy camper regarding their fund's public offering. They transferred my funds to a third party. I am currently locked out of accessing those funds, despite providing my identity to their third party. I will never invest another dime
Poo returns past 3 years and waiting to be able to withdraw my money for 7+ months
I invested initially in 2016 and in the years first 5 years from 2017-2022 returns were pretty solid and I think at least 10% per year and think one year was closer to 20% but last 3 years have been terrible. I think I am down ~5-6% in last 3 years with 2 of them up around 1% flat and one year down 7-8% so none of the part 3 years have come anywhere close to S&P performance. This is pretty crappy during a time when all my other investments were doing well so this has clearly been underperforming.
Honestly that is part on me as I really stopped looking at how it was doing and did not really notice how poor returns had been over past 3 years until this year. I am pretty diversified across many of their funds so it is not just as if I happened to be in the wrong fund at the time,
To make things even more frustrating I asked to withdraw my funds early last September and was only able to withdraw 15% of my portfolio value as they are merging a bunch of their funds into a flagship fund. Initially they told me I should be able to get my money before the end of the year but here we are in mid march and I am no closer to getting my money. They did post a message in February that they are changing their approach in how they are filing this merger of funds. It feels like they should have been more on top of how to handle this as having no way to withdraw funds for what could potentially be a year and have it stuck in something that is losing value vs inflation is less then ideal.
They have been fast to communicate when I have reached out and I am not in any way implying they are shady. It has just not turned out to be a good investment choice last 3 years and on top of that not being liquid enough to get my money out.

Fundrise for the win!
I was skeptical of retail platforms like this at first, but once I started listening to their podcast and jumped in, I regretted not joining the ride sooner. The team is incredible and the user experience on the app is top notch. We are blessed to live in an era where innovative founders like those at Fundrise give us everyday folk a chance to invest in real estate and private companies that used to be untouchable. Thank you!!
