I ordered a 4x6 Oak Mantel Beam…
I ordered a 4x6 Oak Mantel Beam (9x14cm) × 1- 140cm / Natural Oak for my fireplace. It arrived damaged.
When I contacted customer services, their solution was to send me sandpaper so I could fix the damage myself. These items are sold as hand‑crafted. I’m a paramedic, not a carpenter, yet I was told to repair the faulty product they sent me.
I asked about a partial refund for the damage and the work I’d have to do. I was told the damage was “superficial” and that no refund or goodwill gesture would be offered.
Regarding the comment about “superficial damage”:
If this review allowed image uploads, I would show you exactly what arrived. I’m certain any consumer would agree this was not superficial—especially given the damage was on the fascia side of the beam, the part everyone actually sees.
To say I am disgusted is an understatement. After multiple emails, the only option I was given was to return the item for a refund.
And then I saw their advert:
“Fancy winning your Funky Chunky Furniture for FREE?”
The irony is unbelievable. They’re giving away free furniture in a raffle while asking paying customers to repair damaged goods themselves.

Decent product with a great finish
Decent product with a great finish. The oak mantle is pretty heavy but the brackets seem to really do a good job. The only suggestion I would give is to perhaps have a paper template to make marking the holes on the wall a bit simpler. Other than that, everything was great

I have bought two bedroom sets followed by two chest of drawers, they are lovely strong well made furniture that stands out in the rooms.
We had to get them delivered to a courier for ongoing travel to the Shetland Isles, this was dealt with well and we had no problems.

Ordered 2 walnut floating shelves - although the shelves were only stained walnut the quality of the wood and shelf fittings were great. I loved the variety of shelf, depth and lengths you could order, meaning you could really personalise. The packaging was very sturdy too so zero damage in transit. Would recommend.

Ordered my second mantle beam in 2024
Ordered my second mantle beam in 2024. After a while beam twisted and split. I can understand the split but the twist shows hasn’t been dried out enough to be used indoors. Emailed company at first they stated needed order number which was never received by myself only a PayPal receipt which I forwarded. After going back and forth they agreed beam was faulty or not acceptable and would replace. Sent me a link to fill form to replace it but needed an order number or form would not be accepted. Emailed them numerous times now and they are just ignoring contact. First beam was great but customer service and product for second beam very very poor.

We would, however, like to clarify a couple of points within your review, as they don’t reflect the correspondence we have on record.
After reviewing the photographs you provided, we agreed that the level of movement in your mantel was beyond what we would ordinarily expect and offered to replace it for you. We then sent you the form required for us to arrange the replacement and have been awaiting its completion.
An order number is not required in order for you to submit this form, and we have never advised that we would refuse the form without one. Although we initially asked for your order details so that we could locate the original purchase, this did not prevent us from subsequently agreeing and arranging the replacement process.
We’re also concerned to read that you feel your recent emails have been ignored. We have checked our correspondence and cannot see that we have received any further messages from you following our replacement instructions.
Our offer to replace the mantel remains in place, and we would very much like to get this resolved for you. Please complete the replacement form previously provided, or contact us again at info@funky-chunky-furniture.co.uk if you are having any difficulty submitting it, and our team will be happy to assist.

Good if you are not in a hurry.
I ordered the Super King Coleridge bed frame on 2 May 2026 with an estimated dispatch time of 4–6 weeks.
On 5 June, I received an email explaining that, due to a supply chain issue, the bed wouldn't be delivered as originally expected. A new estimated delivery date of 29 June was provided. I appreciated being kept informed, so I didn't have any issue with the delay.
When I hadn't heard anything around the revised date, I called customer services. The lady I spoke to was friendly and helpful, explaining that the bed was ready and that I'd receive an email once it had been dispatched. It eventually arrived on 3 July, around nine weeks after placing the order.
Unfortunately, when we unpacked it, four of the wooden slats were badly cracked and almost broken in half. I contacted customer services by email with photos, and although the process was straightforward, I'd much rather deal directly with a person than an AI chatbot. Replacement slats were sent out promptly, and the issue was resolved quickly.
Now that it's assembled, I'm really pleased with the bed. It feels sturdy, well made, and has a lovely rustic finish. I would have liked to buy the matching bedside tables, but I think they're overpriced—buying two would have cost more than the Super King bed frame itself.
Overall, although delivery took longer than expected, the company kept me updated, and when there was an issue with damaged parts, customer service resolved it efficiently. The quality of the finished product is excellent, and I'm very happy with the bed.

Shambolic delivery arrangements
I haven’t even received my shelf yet and know that I will never order from this company again.
The delivery arrangements are quite shambolic and hugely unsatisfactory.
I have been in my house for two days and yet the delivery company claimed that they have attempted delivery when clearly they are telling bare faced lies.
The response I got from both the delivery company and the FC is woeful also.
Such a shame as I was so looking fwd to shopping regularly with this company.
If it does not arrive tomorrow I shall be requesting a refund…

Poor customer service & product
⭐☆☆☆☆ Very disappointing – product looked nothing like the website photos
I ordered this coffee table because I loved the design shown on the website. Unfortunately, the table I received looked very different from the one advertised.
The website photos show a much chunkier, darker, more substantial-looking table with thick proportions and a premium rustic finish. The table that arrived is much lighter in colour, the top appears much thinner, the legs look narrower, and the overall proportions are completely different. It simply doesn’t have the same appearance that convinced me to make the purchase.
I appreciate that wood is a natural product and that colour variation is to be expected. However, this goes far beyond normal variation. The design and proportions don’t match the product images I relied on when placing my order.
When I contacted customer services, they dismissed my concerns and insisted the table was manufactured to specification. They also wanted to charge me £60 to collect it, treating the issue as a change of mind rather than acknowledging my concerns that the item differed from the advertised product.
To make matters worse, they referred to the table being delivered on a pallet, when it actually arrived wrapped only in bubble wrap.
I’ve now had to open a PayPal dispute because I don’t believe I should have to pay to return an item that, in my opinion, doesn’t match the way it was presented on the website.
If you’re considering ordering from this company, I’d recommend looking carefully at the photos and understanding the returns policy before purchasing. My experience has been extremely disappointing.
