Used to be a go to site for gaming but I don't know what it's attempting to be now. Not useful for anything anymore even by today's bottom barrel standards.

Selling illegal dreamspark copies of…

Selling illegal dreamspark copies of software like Windows and such. DO NOT BY ANY MEAN BUY THEIR LICENSES EVEN IF ITS FOR 1 DOLLAR. You will lose the key over time. If you swap PC or anything YOU WILL lose the key and Microsoft wont help out. They are selling university keys. Which means they are distributing keys Microsoft give to universities and schools for free and gamespot makes money off of these keys.

If you buy a Windows Key directly from Microsoft or a actually trusted and licensed Microsoft retailer, you could with no problem contact Microsoft to reset your key, when you buy from Gamespot, you get a free key that has a 1 time use, them not even mentioning this before the purchase makes this even more shady. On top of that a Microsoft Key is not a single use product/license, its a licence for your system that you can use after any system reset or system swap. Gamespot should be reported to the police for this.

They also have protected themselves in every possible way so they cannot be sued, they got a arbitration agreement and rights to a class action law suit. These people are thiefs and should freakin get sent to jail for scamming people, sentenced to life. I am 100% serious I have all the evidence of this.

Stopped by their Chandler Mall store and saw a copy of Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition for xbox series X, teh clerk dug around in the inventory, found the disk and sold it to me. Later I checked and found it was The Handsome Jack Collection for xbox one. Returned to the store and after 20 minutes of digging through the disorganized inventory the clerk gave up and I was so frustrated that I simply left as I had friends waiting to eat lunch. This is why I stopped going there a decade ago.

It isn't Shakespeare!

I've been referring to their website for years now, and only for videogame reviews as well as the odd movie or TV show. The only observation I'd make is that their reviewers write very good reviews, but they like to show off their command of the English language far too much, with the use of flashy and complicated words. I'm a writer, so I can understand them but for the average gamer, it's too overwhelming when one has to keep looking at Google to see what something means. It can be frustrating, truly. Not every reader understands all this literature which is definitely showing off - I think a little more simplified English would be better, at least for gaming insight. It's not an English literature class to gain a degree. 🙂

Grey market, buyer beware

Grey market selling software keys. Their customer service is pretty hit-or-miss if you have issues. They often have nice freebies that seem to work (mostly eLearning courses).

This website and particularly their…

This website and particularly their subsidiary gameFAQs.com have abandoned their positions as gaming sites. They've geared most of their staff towards pushing political agendas, alienating huge amounts of their original users. If you are a potential advertiser reading this, DO NOT associate your business with these websites. It will absolutely gain negative attention from it.

Successfully bought Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021!

I saw this Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021 sale for $40 through GameSpot Deals. It read that the offer was via StackCommerce. I checked the Trustpilot reviews for GameSpot and they were terrible. However, Stack Commerce seemed to have good reviews so I decided to take a risk. It all went smoothly, and I have successfully installed the apps on my Windows laptop with no issues at all. The total cost came to USD 50.38 ($40 plus taxes and handling) and I chose to pay via PayPal (because I read a review about GameSpot showing a price then increasing once you pay and charging your card for it). I was initially planning to buy the one-off Microsoft office 2021 for home/student for $149 since the Professional Plus cost $249 on the Microsoft website. However, with this deal, I have gotten the better version at a fraction of the cost!

PS: My PayPal email reads that I have authorised payment to Stack Commerce though the Credit Card (linked to PayPal) text message from the bank reads the payment of USD 50.38 is to GameSpot deals.

Don't buy from their deals website.

Don't buy from their deals website.
They show you a price during the payment process and they change it after you bought the item.
They then charge you for the increased amount!

They also don't answer back to issue tickets after I asked for a refund, even if I didn't claim the code.

Absolutely illegal practice.
I'll ask my bank for a refund and I'll proceed to report them to the European AGCM.

Do not purchase digital codes/vouchers…

Do not purchase digital codes/vouchers from them. Bought a Gamepass code from them and once they emailed me the link to redeem the code is not valid. After contacting their customer support, they basically responded with an oh well it worked for us and would not refund me. Useless, I'll never purchase anything from them again.

Banned

I typed a comment on reviews of Sporcle on the site and within minutes I received a message that I had been "banned by an automated anti-spam tool" It defeats the purpose of allowing reviews on the site but do that if you type a negative review.

Purchase Vanished. Help Useless.

Made a digital purchase. It clearly went through (Right there under my Purchases category). Claimed my licenses were being generated. But mere hours later, my order was just gone. My Purchases were blank. And not a single reply from Support.

This is why I'll never buy from Gamespot again, and removed myself from their Deals Mailing List. Gamespot just can't be trusted to provide what you buy. This was just digital. Imagine if it was a physical item?
