Garden Furniture World – Poor Communication and After‑Care
Do not use this retailer!
The items are priced very competitively, but that comes at a cost to you. The after‑sales and delivery services are appalling, to say the least. The delivery driver was rude, left the pallet in an inconvenient position and reluctantly moved the furniture further down the drive and in the process scratched and damaged the drive. On reporting all issues to Dawsons not one member of staff has bothered to return my several calls to discuss..
Please take note of this and the other reviews and avoid this company.

Fantastic. After being let down by another company, I rang Garden Furniture World to make sure the Item I wanted was definitely in stock. After being assured that it was, I purchased it online and within 3 days it had been delivered. Yes, it was a little bit more expensive but absolutely worth it. I'm delighted with the item and the customer service received from Garden Furniture World.
I ordered a Bramblecrest set on a bank holiday special and received confirmation by email quickly for the order. I was then rung by the delivery company to arrange a convenient date and time. I wanted the set for a weekend event but they were booked and we arranged a delivery soon after. However I got a call to say they would fit in delivery on the morning of my event. Thanks, what great service from the delivery company Mitchells of Mansfield. I found the whole process from purchase to delivery very successful.
We ordered a Kettler Caredo 4 seat garden furniture set on a Thursday evening and it was delivered safely the following Wednesday morning. We had seen the same set with parasol and base at a local garden centre and the whole set from Garden Furniture World was about £60 cheaper with the free delivery. The furniture came on a single pallet with contents (chairs, table, parasol) all well packaged and we were informed by the delivery company the day before delivery and then about one hour before arrival on the delivery day. Driver wheeled the pallet up our drive to where I wanted it dropped and made a quick check to ensure everything was OK before departing.
This was as smooth an online transaction as you could wish for and the assembled table looks great with the chairs and parasol opened as seen in our local garden centre. All at a much better price…..
Ordered the Hartman Sorrento set and Lucy price matched to another online provider. I was able to select a delivery date just 2 days away. Item was delivered on time, with ease & care. Assembled next day and am absolutely thrilled with it. Honestly one of my best ever online purchase experiences. Would definitely recommend.
We ordered a Zurich garden set on Friday and it was delivered by the following Wednesday.
It was packed well and we are very pleased with it.
I would of given 5 stars but when we placed the order there was no email confirmation or any for. Of contact from the supplier. We just had a call from the delivery driver to say it was on its way.
But otherwise we are very pleased.
Be aware the items are likely to be old stock/discontinued stock - or soon to be discontinued. In my experience, this online shop is an outlet for items about to be replaced by newer products, perhaps seconds (as both my orders arrived faulty/damaged); they use a poor courier - and if it does go wrong, prepare to chase, chase and chase again. I suspect there are much better suppliers out there, so my advice would be to avoid Garden Furniture World.
gardenfurnitureworld.co.uk is part of the Dawsons Department Store group of services, and so I will refer to Dawsons Department Store (DDS) here. I have purchased two different orders from DDS through the gardenfurnitureworld.co.uk online store: a Bramblecrest corner lounge set and a Hartman recliner set. Both are expensive items from premium manufacturers, costing in excess of £3500. These orders were placed with a gap of about two months.
Unfortunately, the Bramblecrest was delivered on a damaged pallet, which caused significant damage to my driveway. Although the packaging was okay, it then turned out the actual items were of poor manufacturing quality, with weak welds and scratches. The Hartman set also turned up with a fault. My review here is not for the Pallet Company (the courier), Bramblecrest or Hartman - all of which have been disappointing. Although I will add that the courier blamed DDS for choosing a too-economical option by using one large pallet and not two smaller ones - hence the damage - I am not sure if this is true, but it does make a bit of sense as the pallet had effectively collapsed under the weight (but I assume the courier is responsible for pallet sizes).
So, I had to deal with the support team at Garden Furniture World (DDS) to get the damage to my property and the damaged/faulty two orders sorted, and unfortunately, this is where it all goes wrong, and I found myself chasing, chasing, and chasing to get the situations resolved. Ian was my first encounter, and he was often away at company events, so my emails and calls would go unanswered. Eventually, I was compensated with this first order, although that compensation (a free Bramblecrest cover set and 50% of the Hartman order) goes no way to replace the damaged flagstones on my drive, plus I know in some cases there is a 50% markup on garden furniture sales, so potentially no profit loss to this supplier. The damaged items were eventually replaced, but it did require an entire new set being delivered (85kg) and having to pack and unpack, which took another afternoon of my time. I accepted this solution, as I was fed up with chasing the company.
The second order, which was discounted as part of the compensation for the first order, led to having to contact the support team at Dawsons Department Store/Garden Furniture World again - and no, the irony was not lost on me. This time, dealing with Lucy. And again, I had to chase DDS as no answer was forthcoming. Lucy explained it is a busy time of year, but it is still very annoying to have to chase them, especially given the items are not usable due to the fault, and of course, this is the second time in as many months (she also offered no apology in my initial call, which is disappointing).
Both the Hartman and Bramblecrest orders are end-of-line items which I was not made aware of, and perhaps this is why they are sold through this website at a “sale price”.
Overall a very disappointing experience and as such I would suggest avoiding this retailer.
We have just received and put together our Winawood Speyside bench and are very happy with the delivery and quality of the bench. The delivery was swift and professional and we were impressed by how well the bench had been packaged for transit. Would definitely recommend and buy again from this company.
Just received my Alexander Rose bench, cannot fault Garden Furniture World. I placed my order Friday morning and received it next day - Saturday afternoon via DPD with 1hr slot given. It was the best price I could find anywhere for this particular item and the service was excellent. Recommend.
I purchased a Kettler Lyon set.At the time of purchase the set was described as weatherproof this has now been amended to showerproof.The set completely rusted inside the metal tubing as the holes for the rope allow water in rusting the tubing from the inside.This happened within 18 months.Unfortunately the rust was not apparent as the rope covered it.This poses a risk to users as the damage is not apparent.The retailer and the manufacturer continue to sell this set in spite of being informed of the issues.

Excellent service. Ordered a furniture set we’d seen in a local garden centre at a very competitive price and was able to pick a delivery date to suit. Unfortunately one of the parts had been damaged in transit but the issue was swiftly resolved by Claire and replacement sent in a couple of days. Cannot recommend this company highly enough.
Always weary of using a suppler for the first time but no worries. From point of order to delivery was less than a week. Had a issue not their fault but they sorted it out with full follow up, kept us updated and fully resolved it. Was truly a great service provided with a great product delivered as well. Would fully recommend and use this company again, Thanks to Jane again and well done
