Great choices, good prices and fast delivery, ideal

I was looking at various garden lighting options but chose Techmar due to Nigel's help. He drew up a lighting plan for us and detailed all the items we would need. I couldn't have done it on my own. He was also very patient with my numerous questions! I can't comment on the product yet, but hoping it matches the pre-sales advice.

Back in June we purchased a lighting system for our back garden following a recommendation from a friend. At the time of purchase I spoke with a young lady who was very helpful and answered all of my questions about products and design. We were so impressed with the system that we decided to add more lights to it. The other week I rang to order the extra lights and spoke to an extremely helpful man called Nigel. The order arrived but unfortunately one of the lights were damaged. This was very easily resolved again by Nigel, with a very favourable outcome.
I would highly recommend this company as they are knowledgeable about the products, you can actually pick up the phone and speak to someone, the service and delivery is prompt.

I have used this shop before for garden fairy lights and have always been pleased, but now a more sophisticated project.

I wanted a 12v (ie wire myself) wall lighting system that:
-goes on automatically when it gets dark
-switches off at pre-set time at night
-outside of this time will switch on when motion is detected front, side and back of the house, so 3 x PIR detectors
-ideally an open system, so that I can operate from my phone.

While these guys seemed to have the widest range of 12v lights and accessories they did not seem to have anything that would do all of this:

-Easyswitch get's close, but I could not see a light detector and it does not look like an open system. It also seems very expensive (eg £85 for a PIR)
-hardwired Techmar motion detectors are "not recommend in combination" with other switches & only 1 motion detector per circuit

The good news is that the lights (Techmar Sibus) and transformer are a nice and are a simple 2 wire 12v AC system, so it was easy enough to use the wall lamps and transformer with switches from others:
-dusk/dawn: lumenalights - wall-mounted-photocell-dusk-to-dawn-12v
-wireless relay: amazon - MHCOZY 1 Channel USB 5V DC 7-32V Smart WiFi Wireless Dry Contact Relay Switch Module
-PIRs: Amazon - HUBER Motion 3LV Compact Infrared Motion Sensor
-connector system: CESFONJER Compact Wire Connectors

Wiring up required a simple circuit diagram - parallel (lights and some switches) and series (some switches) and I got the functionality that I wanted. The approach also keeps the cost down and minimises complicated technology (Amazon Home app on/off timer is the most sophisticated system).

And what about Garden Lights Shop:
-what they do have was the best/easiest to use lighting system that I could find with a few hours web search.
-it is frustrating that no one does have a complete solution. Again Garden Lights Shop seem to get closest, but unless I read their website wrong, they do not yet have a complete solution (yet - Nov2024).

For what they can provided 5 stars :)

Fabulous customer service when buying my Techmar lights. I had no clue about 12v lighting having only had rubbish solar previously. They have a free lighting design service so I took a few pics and annotated an overhead view from google earth and emailed it to them. I got a schematic design back the next day (thanks Nigel), plus a suggested shopping list with options and great advice. I placed my order at lunchtime and DPD delivered by 10am the next day - that's faster than Amazon. The schematic design was really useful as a guide to how to do the connections and it looks so pretty now I've installed it. The techmar products have 3 / 5 yr warranty, and it's worth going with this company so you order the correct kit for your situation.

Good service. Nigel has swiftly replied to my enquiries and provided recommendations. I installed ten Techmar Focus some year ago and they are holding up well. After a garden redesign I cut some cables while changing light locations and was advised of a fix kit & connect sockets. I wanted to up power of the bulbs to 5w but £14 for one is excessive given I can buy a light for £27. Oh and no colour bulbs either..

Company claims 3 year warranty on Techmar products but when they fail they send out diagnosis form that would take ages fill (i.e. open all lights, check all cables)

In my installation I'd be looking at 2-3 hours of work so that they might be willing to replace £50 transformer after I'd have to pay return postage.

I’ve used this company half a dozen times or so over the past 4 years for various garden projects. They are excellent to deal with. The website is easy and straightforward and the products are good quality. On one occasion I had a problem with one of the lights Id ordered. When I contacted them, their service was excellent and they swiftly despatched a new light. A great company to deal with.

I've had cheap lights in the past from elsewhere and they've fallen apart/failed. I found gardenlightshop and while I was initially reluctant to spend the extra I bought their Festoon Party Lights and I have no regrets. As soon as they came out of the box I thought "that looks more like it". I'll be buying more.

I'm writing this review just over a year after ordering, receiving and installing my lights. I've come back to write this review because I intend to buy more of these as I've had such a positive experience.

I've tried quite a few cheaper alternatives via ebay, amazon etc, but after pretty dissappointing results I chose the product from this vendor based on a friend's recommendation.

The difference in quality, light output, reliability and ease of installation of these compared to cheaper options justifies the spend to me. This vendor was one of the cheapest for the chosen product and the it arrived quickly and is the genuine product, appears well made, plenty of cable length, robust and built to last. Very easy to fit, they've been running for just over a year now, turned on most evenings - triggered by guests, family, our cats (some tuning of the sensor required there) and they continue to work really well.

We've even driven over the lights when parking our car and they continue working, just pushed a bit futher into the front lawn.

All in all, a very positive experience. Thanks!

Great service and quality of lights, order received 24 hours after placing.

After going to fit the lights at the weekend an item was missing, called up first thing on Monday and had the missing part 20 hours later!

Will be back to use again when we add more garden lights

In may I ordered some wired garden lights online. I incorrectly thought the delivery was delayed and called them to chase. When speaking with them, they very politely made me aware of my misunderstanding. They also took the opportunity to check my order and realised that I had ordered the wrong size transformer. They advised me of the correct transformer and amended my order there and then to make sure I got the right transformer I needed. There was an issue with the payment whereby an incorrect amount was processed, but this was also rectified straight away with no fuss. Very helpful and trust worthy.
