Just don't do it

Ok so the price was good for a chainsaw, BUT I had to chase where it was, then despite saying I was going to get it, they changed their approach and just sent an unannounced refund, no apology, no option.
You can NOT rely on a company like this. I did get an unrelated phone call wanting to sell me a lawnmower!!!!

Totally disorganised, misleading info on website, failed deliveries no communication.

I ordered a Husqvarna Sledge Axe / Splitting maul on 16th November. Gayways website stated it was in stock, I paid extra for delivery, a week later I called and was told it was not in stock. I told them this is not what the website stated when I ordered it, they tried to argue saying they are not responsible for Husqvarna's stock level. I told them I was not interested in Husqvarna's stock level as I hadn't ordered from them but Gayways.
Finally they admitted that they had not had it in stock when I placed the order and that they website was misleading and does not display live stock levels, and that I should have known ti sin advance and called them to check if it was in stock?
I was then promised it would be wed 24th. No surprise this didn't happen and they blamed the courier!
I told them I would be away for a few days and they agreed to have it delivered on 1st December.
I received no tracking info so called the on 1st dec.
I was now told I would receive it on 2nd December.
So have have loads of wood lying about in the way.
I'm not holding out too much hope that I will receive it tomorrow.
Each time they have failed they have never contacted me to apologize or update me.
I expect I would be waiting many more weeks for the item had I not called them 4-5 times.

Lawnmower repair. Or not.

My elderly Honda lawnmower kept stalling and hadn't been serviced for many years. I brought it in to Gayways. Immediately the man at the desk told me that everyone needs to buy the special lawnmower fuel they sell, instead of ordinary petrol, otherwise the fuel supply will get clogged up. I could see he was doing his best to sell these bottles of fuel to other customers who looked as sceptical as I was. He then took a deposit of £65 from me, and said that an estimate would be given after the mower had been examined. A few days later I got their phone call, telling me that the driveshaft was bent (has been for years, actually, and the mower still cuts the grass) and that it's time to buy a new mower and not throw good money after bad. So I asked for them to return the mower to me, which they did. They kept the £65 plus an additional fee of £20 for delivering the mower to me, and they have not provided an itemised invoice nor have they done any repair work or servicing to the mower. Not good value for money. I have bought another mower - from somewhere else, of course. The old one I gave away on Freecycle and I'm sure it has a few years of life still in it.

Excellent service

We bought a Stil lawnmower from Gayways it is excellent easy to use and set up and very light weight.
Gayways delivered on time and was kept updated of delivery. Would definitely recommend

Ripped off instore

I spent £1037 in store on a set of Stihl tools, only to find on getting home that the same products would have cost me £138 cheaper if i'd bought them online. I asked the store if they would refund the difference which they refused to do, saying that 'in store' i'm paying for the sales advice, which amounted to them selling me the only product they had in stock. Will never shop there again!

Disgraceful service - false advertising

Disgraceful service. Ordered on line a new Stihl HS82 RC-E at the advertised price on their website and paid the price. 2 days later received a phone call to say that the price had increased by another £60.00. When questioned why there was an increasing was informed that they hadn’t had chance to update their website with the new increased price following the Christmas break. Ordered cancelled by me and I will never entertain this false advertising company again. Be warned everyone scammers !!!!!.

Got my Stihl hedge trimmers serviced, was initially happy with price and time frame. This however changed, took 4 weeks longer than expected with no communication unless I contacted him, also the price almost doubled. FELT CONNED BY THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE! USING SOMEONE ELSE NEXT TIME

Dropped my lawnmower off at per normal.

Dropped my lawnmower off at per normal.
I discussed the issue with the shop owner.
He said, will be all sorted in 2 weeks.
A week later, I called multiple times for progress, and they just do not answer the phone.
Eventually, I popped into the shop and he said part ordered, and will take a further 2 weeks.
2 weeks later I went to pick up my lawnmower, and he said, wrong part not arrived, come back in 2 weeks.
2 weeks later, I went back and again he said wrong part arrived, come back in 2 weeks.
This went on for 3 months.
And when i said, if you continuously keep getting the wrong part from supplier, do you have a plan B. He just said, I'll keep reordering until the correct part arrives.
What a scam bag.
The owner is a complete arsenal hole.
He has no empathy for the customer.
He has no customer service.
He has no drive to solve a problem.
I would never go anywhere near this shop, ever again.

Stihl BGA86 Blower

Bought a Stihl BGA86 blower at 15.00hrs and it was delivered to Scotland the next day at 11.00hrs. Great service by both Gayways and DHL. Small glitch when ordering online but a quick phone call soon resolved the matter. Best price I could find and I also got a free pair of Stihl secateurs. Highly recommended

No complaints...

I never dealt with Gayways before. I ordered a Silky pole saw and non-stock accessories from Gayways website. Paid up, held my breath, and hoped all would be well... but I needn't have worried, everything arrived in good time, one shipment, undamaged. Very competitive price too... so I'm happy.

NOT to be trusted - STAY AWAY!

Three years ago I bought something from their ebay store, where they traded by the username gardentoolstrade.
As soon as the feedback period expired, they started spamming me.

I left a bad review on G & the owner replied... "We honour and respect all our customers and their data. Data is not shared with any third party company."

Today, a third party mailing company have spammed me again with some blackfriday nonsense on their behalf.

So, I have to conclude they are dishonest liars & I recommend you DO NOT deal with them, if you value your data & privacy rights. I certainly wouldn't give them my bank details, if I were you.

Dishonerable and extortionate

Took over 6 weeks to replace the carb on a Stihl KM94rc. The wrong part was ordered, then they had to disasemble and order the correct part. No apology was made for the delay which resulted in considerable loss of work. At collection I was charged over the maximum estimate cost stated in the email (£275-300), which is already close to the cost of a new one. After raising this point they still refused to charge the amount originally stated and insisted that I pay £385 for the replacement of 1 carb, which should be around an hours work. Absolutely extortionate, disrespectful and unprofessional. The engineer seemed like a nice guy but the clerk on the counter was a totaly shameless. It was obviously a very unpleasant experience for me but they made no effort to make it right.

Cylinder Mower Servicing

Getting a cylinder mower properly sharpened set and serviced is not easy due mainly to few businesses carrying out such work. However, Gayways were very helpful indeed undertook such work with great skill and a superb result even on an older model of cylinder mower. Since the overhaul the machine has now been used regularly for three months and is as good as when the work was done by Gayways service engineer.

It's a good company and good service but...

It's a good company and good service, but despite saying no to marketing emails they have been illegally spamming me to death after using them.

This violates the The Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 section 22.
