If I could give GCI zero stars, I would. We are currently on day 5 of a total neighborhood outage while being told there is no outage, and the experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. And calling support to Mehico does not help since they cannot be understood.
Christian Stewart and Ross Reed are impotent and seem to do nothing more that show up and collect a check by filling out forms and fulfilling a corporate roll.
This isn’t just a "glitch." In the last week alone, we have had a technician out to our house three times. Each time, they show up, look at the same lines, and leave us in exactly the same position: offline. It is clear that GCI’s infrastructure is failing, and their support team is either unequipped or uninterested in actually solving the problem.
What makes it truly insulting is the billing. GCI expects full payment for a service they aren’t providing. I am tired of having to spend my time filing FCC complaints just to get a pro-rated refund for the weeks of service I’ve lost. You shouldn't have to involve federal regulators just to get an ISP to be honest about their own outages.
We are officially done. We are moving our home internet to Starlink and switching our mobile lines to Patriot Mobile. We’ve realized that paying for "local" service with GCI means paying for a connection that doesn't work and support that doesn't care.
To anyone considering GCI: Unless you enjoy troubleshooting for hours on end and begging for refunds for service you never received, look elsewhere.

The worst thing to happen to Alaska
Horrible company that has a monopoly on the entire state of Alaska. To say they overcharge and under deliver is the understatement of the century. Whenever outages happen, GCI's solution is to cut off ALL routes of contact to customer service or anyone working at GCI. If you go to the physical location, workers will give you a business card and just say to call tech support because it's "out of their hands". If you call tech support/customer service, they play an automated message saying "There are currently network issues. There is no need to call at this time". Mind you, this will play on and on for MONTHS. A competitor could show up, charge double, and simply provide the BARE MINIMUM of a stable connection at the same speeds and I would take it in a heartbeat.
New modem
I was sent a new modem that I didn't know was coming. A few days later, and on a Saturday no less, my internet quit working. I couldn't receive email do gci could not send me a verification code. They would not text it to me that would have been decent. I was forced to go to a gci store where i was told i needed the new modem even though my current one was green and my router was green. I told them they used deception because the modem was remotely and secretly blocked my modem from working. I told gci if they have blocked my internet the modem should blink yellow. He agreed. I think it is the height of Irony that their "business " name includes COMMUNICATION.
FIX THE DAMN WIFI
Why are you charging full price if your WiFi doesn’t work half of the time?!?! It’s frustrating. It’s been this way for years. This is the worst wifi network I have ever used!!!

GCI is nothing short of the worst internet provider ever. I would rather live with no wifi at all then continue to pay for something so slow I can run around the block before it can load anything (tested). Christopher Reeve can run faster than their internet can do anything. On top of how unacceptably bad their internet is they have done nothing to fix it.
So disappointed in service
Went to one of the outlet to inquire on the Iphone 16 Pro 1T. None was available only the 256g. I ask if I could have it ordered since their shipment comes on every Wednesday of the week. The person put in my order online. Went in on the next day and found out two had come in but get this they have given my order away. W## this was my order and what were they thinking. So now I have to wait again.
There has to be a better choice.
Out of state owned over priced poor customer service
Hard to operate a company like this so bad that you need armed guards. First it is no longer Alaskan owned since they started advertising that. It is very expensive so for to phones and reasonable Internet it is over $200mo which is over $2,400 a year which is a substantial chunk of an income. Hell that's a cheap car. There customer service is subbed foreign or out of state and takes forever. There phone selection is overpriced and out dated besides the most expensive. The do not have Samsung LTE capabilities. There upload speed is bad my service with Borealis Broadband was less than half the price and faster. Even when you go in they do not have enough employees to have a reasonable wait time

Worse technology company I've ever dealt with. Try to make a payment online and it's stuck 'Processing'. Try to buy a phone at a branch and after an hour trying to see if they have any of the latest Samsung phones in stock on their computer, they tell me I'll have to try another Store. Go to another store and repeat the process, would be so much faster to go in back and look!

I can not explain the level of contempt I have for this company. I pay for the best possible internet option and am met with constant outages and the worst ping possible throughout the entire world. They made a fake alliance with acs called the alaska network. They avoid being a monopoly while still being a monopoly through a shady conjuction. I worked for the company for 6 years and was treated completely differently than once I became a customer. The utter lack of care for the customer is astounding and I wish nothing but for another company to push them out of there complete control over all options in this state. I hate you more than words can state. May the gods strike down your overwealthy cancerous lawyer owners. I hope they all get in car wrecks and become cripple from the neck down.

They are thief’s and scammers. Service is terrible and their call center is somewhere overseas so good luck resolving anything.
I traded in my phone and was to receive trade in credit for 24 months, they only did 4 months and silly of me I didn’t realize it. After realizing this, and hours on the phone with their overseas call center, they have no records of my trade in and have stopped giving me any credit of any sort for a phone I traded in during a promotion. I was promised $800 over my contract which was sneakily a 36month contract without discussion or disclosure of such.
They pray on people, do yourself a favor and use anyone else.

Worst phone service/customer service I've ever gotten. The phone I purchased barely worked anywhere in alaska, and the phone itself was a POS. I've paid 100$ for several phones in the past that lasted years. This one didn't last a month before it started to lag and become painfully slow. Monthly service is expensive for something that doesn't work. Plus, they say no contract but will send you to collections even though I prepaid in full? Thought I was purchasing a prepaid phone, like my straight talk phone. I had a whole conversation with the rep about how iI only needed this phone for the summer.. which is why I paid in full. Reps must make commissions off sales, which is the only reason I can think of why I was lied to. This company is a scam. Would avoid at all costs. FYI to readers my walmart Straight Talk phone worked much better in alaska than GCI, service is cheaper and phones are better quality too.

The absolute worst company
The absolute worst company. Poor service, they make it really difficult to discontinue service then will continue to charge you, fail to notify you of the charges and send small piddly amounts owned to a debt collector (one which doesn’t have a working online payment platform). This company is a fossil and unethical.

Horrible. Been with them for 10 years and never used to be this bad. Can't get anywhere with tech support after 2 months of chronic issues and dozens of calls to them. Their reps are nice but the service and resolution to problems..well

GCI should be investigated for fraud.
I've used GCI for about 3 years now. GCI is borderline a monopoly, and should be investigated for how they blatantly throttle internet speeds if you have any plan but their most expensive. The only plan they offer with unlimited data is also the only plan with decent speeds, and it's close to $200. Any cheaper plan, and they limit high speed data to ridiculous amounts, and your speeds slow to barely 5mbps download. They're also the only company in Alaska with decent speeds, making them the only real option if you want internet speeds fast enough to do anything other than basic web use and low quality videos. Even with their most expensive plan, their internet and speeds are unreliable. They go down frequently, and speeds are extremely relative, especially if you're using multiple devices. If money isn't an issue, buy their best plan, because it's the fastest internet out here. Just don't expect anything amazing. Their cheaper plans shouldn't even exist with the speeds they give you. Good luck.
Moved can't get money back
We moved because of Military orders. We were told we'd get our money back. It has been 5 months since we moved. I call and they continue to make up excuses as to why I can't get my money back. They are horrible. Not only are they ridiculously expensive but they have horrible internet and even worse customer service. Stay far away!

The inefficiency is mind-boggling. I've spoken to at least 10 different people in the past two months and the issue is still not resolved. Either they are totally inept are so freaking rude I can not stay on the phone and have a conversation with them. Today has been the ultimate in foolery.
