I scheduled two moves with bellhop.
The first move was on 9/15. The movers were great, but I had scheduled them for four hours and it turns out they had been double booked by bellhop and had another gig that started 2.5 hours after they started our job. They stayed for an extra hour, but still left early and were unable to complete the full job.
The second move was on 9/17 and was supposed to start at 8am. NO one showed up. I called Bellhop 4 or 5 times. They kept putting me on hold saying they were trying to contact my movers. Finally, at 11am I asked that they find back up movers. My husband and I had taken the day off of work and needed to unpack before our baby was home at 5pm. The back up movers finally showed up at around noon, 4 hours late. We lost half a day, which ate up both our vacation time at work as well as time we could have spent setting up our apartment in time for our baby to come back to a safe home.
We asked the customer rep for a discount on our service considering the trouble we went through, and she promised to make it right. But a few days later we were charged the full amount.

They reassembled our bed incorrectly. It fell apart and partially collapsed while we were lying down on it. Thankfully no on was hurt but we needed to spend almost two hours in the middle of the night putting it back together.
Bellhop also had booked us for 3 movers/4 hours. They only sent two movers and then charged us for the extra 1.5 hours that the move ended up taking.
I contacted customer service who told me that they needed to pass this along to their Operations team and would get back to me in 24 hours. It is now four days later, and I still haven't heard from them.

Pro: Good sales team, good moving team
Con: Poor operations team, fully charged the moving cost BEFORE the move was completed and without notice. Agreed to provide remedy, but never got back. Not worth the premium price paid for coordination.
I had a long distance moved booked from Boston to NYC, booked several weeks in advance. I did not receive confirmation the night before the move date, was not proactively contacted by Bellhop or the move crew or driver.
Ultimately at 8am on the move morning when we were scheduled to start, I did not see a truck, I did not have a move crew. The next 10 hours consisted of me doing all of the work to reach out to Bellhops, try to coordinate all the pieces (THEIR JOB).
Due to Bellhops repeatedly dropping the ball, not communicating proactively, not having backup solutions, etc. they did not complete my move. It was the single most unprofessional and embarassment of service I've ever experienced with a company.
I was lucky enough to call a local company to do the move last minute, which they did amazingly (came out 1.5 hr after I called them).
Avoid Bellhop at all costs - they rely on contractors and a gig model and when things go south, Bellhop is not responsive, not accountable, and complete inept.

Avoid moving with Bellhop Boston at all costs!!! They may appear cheaper than other options, but you truly get what you pay for in terms of lack of reliability. We got burned on our latest move and I advise you to learn from our experience.
I booked my move ~4 weeks prior. Leading up to moving day, I get several emails from Bellhop on how to get ready for my move and what to expect. That's all fine, but it becomes ironic when, less than 12 hours before the scheduled move (which was 8am), I receive a call from an unsympathetic customer rep who tells me they cannot find a truck for my move the next morning. The alternative was that my move could be pushed out two days after with a "likelihood" that I will have a full team at the alternative time. Anyone who plans out a move and has taken time off from work knows that this is absolutely not a good alternative! At best, they can promise me only the two movers I booked for my original schedule, but I would have to procure my own moving truck (e.g. U-Haul). As a consolation, they did offer a pittance 15% discount if I continued with whatever service of theirs I use.
When I got off the phone, I could feel my face exploding with stress since I then had to plan on renting a U-Haul, driving a massive truck with no prior experience, mapping my route to make sure I hit no low-clearance bridges, and returning the truck to the pick up location, all while coordinating moving my belongings and car.
i got only 3 hours of sleep that night because of the stress. The following morning, I get a call from the customer support manager, who tells me they can, in fact, find me only one mover, which would have been an impossible job given the amount of stuff that needed to be moved. At that point, I told them to kick rocks. I frantically dialed other moving companies in the area who can pick up the job last minute and very fortunately was able to find one.
Bellhop's website advertises a reliable and stress-free moving day; this entire experience was anything but that! Their entire service model of hiring gig workers is abhorrent and just prone to unreliability. They do not deserve to be in business. There are plenty of professional moving companies in Boston. Do not give Bellhop a chance to ruin your moving day!!!

I was torn on how many stars to give my experience. The experience was stressful regarding confusion and misinformation either for myself or the moving crews. The loading and unloading crews did not understand what they were in for but they pulled through and did a really good job under the hard conditions of my move.

The absolute BEST moving experience we’ve ever had. John and Sean were courteous, friendly and efficient. They were proficient in moving big bulky pieces and delicate pieces. We will absolutely recommend this company and use them again in the future.

The workers that showed up were great. The contractors never arrived and the truck was late which delayed the work significantly. I feel we would have ended an hour earlier if all four movers had shown up. I appreciate the efforts that were made by bellhop otherwise. Again this was no fault of the movers that arrived they were courteous and helpful.

Awesome job, the movers were completely accommodating and respectful. On time and extremely efficient - so glad they packed for us, there's no way we would've been able to fit it all in so neatly & precise.
Thank you :)

I have used this company twice now and have had the best experience both times. They are prompt, careful, and very experienced. I highly recommend using Bellhop for your next move.

Great guys, quick move, no complaints. My next door neighbors said they used you, and were equally pleased.

The actual moving job was excellent! The process of scheduling the move with the bellhop website, however, was a nightmare....inflexible and cumbersome. You need to re-do your website. But keep all the great movers working under Dave in the Boston area!!
