I hired Bellhop Movers expecting a professional service, but what I experienced was dishonesty, vague contracts, and negligence that left me with financial losses and irreplaceable damage.
First, Bellhop’s website, contracts, and estimates are written in deliberately vague terms. I specifically hired three movers, but Bellhop only sent two movers and a driver—a driver who did not move anything. Even the two movers admitted on-site that a third mover was required and should have been there. Without that third mover, the job dragged on far longer than necessary. When Bellhop finally sent the third mover hours later, that mover accomplished more in one hour than the team had all day. Bellhop then charged me an additional $600 for delays entirely caused by their own under-staffing and misrepresentation.
Second, their negligence caused direct damage. A full box of fragile valuables—clearly marked FRAGILE and carefully bubble-wrapped—was dropped from the truck. The movers acknowledged the damage and apologized. That box contained vintage and antique items, including glass pitchers, coffee equipment, vintage cups, plates, and an antique iced tea pitcher that is irreplaceable. While this wasn’t a large portion of my belongings, it was a box of highly valuable and sentimental items, some of which can never be replaced.
Third, Bellhop’s customer service and claims process is designed to frustrate customers into giving up. Their phone line is nothing but an AI system that cannot provide real assistance. When I attempted to file a claim, the website they directed me to was incorrect. It took me over five days just to get the correct link to their claims portal—time wasted only because I had to send a detailed email listing all damaged items before anyone responded. To make matters worse, Bellhop requires claims to be filed within five days of the move date, yet they make it nearly impossible to locate the claims portal on their own website, effectively blocking customers from filing in time.
Bellhop caused me:
$1,000+ in losses between destroyed items, wasted time, and unjustified charges.
Sentimental losses from antiques that cannot be replaced.
Stress and frustration from vague contracts, dishonest practices, and a deliberately obstructive claims process.
If Bellhop does not reimburse me, I will seek legal action for damages and deceptive business practices.
Bellhop’s vague wording, unhelpful AI “customer service,” obstructive claims process, and unprofessional conduct should be a red flag to anyone considering using them. This company cannot be trusted.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I booked bellhop for an emergency move, and although the movers actually showed up on time, it went downhill from there. I hired 4 movers, only 3 showed up. They manhandled everything they touched despite me asking them multiple times to be careful. Just about everything they touched got damaged. Even containers and items inside said containers were damaged to varying degrees. I could keep going, but long story short, I have 100+ pictures of the damages that I sent to bellhop and the 'refund' they offered was downright insulting. I am still working on getting a full refund because some of the items that were damaged are antiques and the cost to repair everything is as much if not more than what I paid for the move. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.
Edit: It's been over 10 days since trying to get a refund and you can't get a real person on the phone even if you ask the bot for a person. The bot literally will not allow it.
Andre H. And Kevin F. were great today. On time, cautious with my things, and worked well as a team. I had two new guys Xavier S. and Makail S. They both helped take apart and put back my beds and seemed to be very helpful as well. My driver was nice and early, super nice guy, he was knowledgeable and brought a really nice dolly for the guys to use. I’m butchering his name but it was something close to Roger. My one main note would be to have them wrap as much as possible including your couches, they didn’t wrap mine and we ended up with some pretty bad black smudges on our white couch. A couple knicks on two wood tables, but it happens. Thanks!
Professional and efficient. The movers were very fast and took care with all my things. They were also finished earlier than expected which speaks to their efficiency. Would recommend and use again
This company is incredible. Marlo Braulyn and Donte did an OUTSTANDING job. They were polite and efficient, and really made a tough move into an easy one. They are exemplary employees. Marlo did an AWESOME job with communication during the entire move. I would recommend this crew and company to anyone, planning to move.

Marlo, Josh, and Christian were amazing movers!!! This was a last minute move due to a fire. My Dad and I are disabled and desperately needed movers who were punctual and professional. They were on time, handled our items with care, and went above and beyond. I recommend them for anyone's move in the Charlotte area.

I don't typically write negative review and don't do so lightly. However, I found my experience with Bellhop difficult. I didn't give them a 1-star review because the team leads who showed up at my houses (we used them for both sides of a move) were knowledgeable, hardworking, and good communicators. Unfortunately, other individuals either couldn't show up or just plain slept in and missed the time window. Having to talk with Bellhop customer service wasn't the best because you wait on hold and they can't make decisions themselves. The independent contractors I worked with also had a similar experience when they try talking with Bellhop corporate.
Honestly, this company has some good assets in the independent contractors with whom they work, but the company itself isn't managed that well. If I were a private equity firm, I'd have my eye on them to help turn them around.
Because of this, I don't believe they are worth the money.

This was an online transaction, nobody explained the service. The Dashboard is only as good if directed there for a reason, without personal contact, user is blind to information about services. No equipment, even laborers said they usually bring it, and it should not have been my responsibility, as stated by Mickey. You still owe me $60.
