Gevalia Colombian blend medium roast pre-ground coffee

This review is on the Gevalia Colombian blend medium roast pre-ground coffee.
This coffee was purchased on sale on a buy one get one free from my local grocery store. Total cost was $5.99 for a 12 ounce bag or 50 cents/ounce which I consider a decent value. It only came in a pre-ground form. It was packaged in the familiar re-sealable mylar/foil bag with a degasing valve and had an expiration date 8 months into the future.
Upon opening the bag I was greeted with the sweet fragrance of a good Colombian coffee with a cocoa undertone. The bag claims 100% mountain grown Colombian Arabica coffee. It was ground to Gevalia's medium which I find a bit too fine for my liking. The bag also claims the coffee to be a medium roast. No other information was given about the coffee inside the bag. There were also basic brewing instructions.
Brewing this coffee I used my 50 grams of coffee to 1.2 liters of filtered water. The aroma from brewing was a.pleasant roasted coffee. I did notice stalling and some channeling in the coffee grounds, this is when the grind is too fine for the brewer and causes a backup in the filter basket. It also causes over extraction and can lead to a bitter brew.
Cupping this coffee you will notice a delicate coffee aroma with a slight sweetness. Upon tasting, this coffee has a medium mouth feel something I enjoy. It has no harsh acidity had a nutty roasted coffee flavor with a chocolaty finish. This coffee did not exhibit any bitterness despite the filter basket stalling. I wish roasters would make their coffees more readily available in whole bean. This coffee could have been so much better if I could have ground it myself to suit my machine. I rated this coffee 4 stars out of 5. The SCA scoring system rates any coffee over 80 points as a specialty coffee. My cupping and tasting score using the SCA method would be a rating of 82. Had this coffee been available as a whole bean I'm sure it would have scored much higher.
As it was, it was pleasant with no bitterness and an overall very good cup of coffee. I recommend this coffee blend.

To Coffee Drinkers Everywhere - A Warning About Amazon

* * * To Coffee Drinkers Everywhere - A Warning About Amazon * * *
As a 77-year-old U.S. Army veteran, l've always valued quality and consistency. For years, I regularly purchased "Gevalia Colombia K-Cup Coffee Pods, 84 Count" from Amazon for $34.25. However, on February 8, 2025, I was appalled to receive a filthy, poorly taped box with exposed K-Cups instead of the sealed packaging I was accustomed to. My wife and I no longer trust the contents of this package, and Amazon refused to issue a full refund.
Adding to my frustration, the price of this coffee has increased by $12.53 to $46.78-matching prices at local stores like Walmart. Given the hassle of inconsistent deliveries and returns, l've decided to stop ordering coffee from Amazon altogether. I urge fellow Gevalia coffee drinkers to reconsider purchasing from Amazon as well. I've documented the delivery with photos and plan to share them on Google Reviews.

My fave is espresso roast

My fave is espresso roast. Continue buying this because of aroma and taste. Was able to avail the free coffee maker before, that was the best offer ever for a coffee lover like me.

Very very nice koffee if you do…

Very very nice koffee if you do understand the difference out there for whatever reasons. I do hope it will not really make it somewhat possible. I hope you can get that much. How else it could really be done ? I want it better. We do hope it.
