Giant refuses to make good on defective bike

I purchased an explore+ 3 ebike last spring. I've had three motor replacements and one frame replacement in a single year. While most of the repairs have been covered by warranty, the last one was covered by my local bike store, who had to eat the labour costs. Now the fourth motor has died, and we can't get Giant to respond. There right thing to do would be to simply replace the bike; instead, I've had the bike in the shop for at least a month and still have a defective product.

Giant dropper seat posts are rubbish

The Giant Contact Switch dropper seat post that came with my Anthem Adanced SX is complete rubbish.
It was problematic from the start and after 2 years of very limited use has completely seized in place.
Giant Australia were no help, offering a ‘discount’ replacement price higher than could be bought on eBay.
The rest of components on this bike are high spec and faultless - why Giant chose to ruin an otherwise great bike with their own cheap rubbish component escapes logic. When I finally fully dismantled the seat post it was severely worn and totally unserviceable.
If you are buying a Giant MTB, negotiate a quality dropper seat post as part of the deal to avoid bitter disappointment.

Broken frame in less than 2 years of use as a commuter!

Purchased a Giant TCX SLR2 in 2016, and barely used it for the first 2 years - preferred my Scott Reflex Mountain Bike.

After starting to use the Giant for commuting to work, suffered a number of issues and in less than 2 years of use have had to replace every single component - sometimes more than once.

I have now suffered from a complete break in the frame - how this is possible when only commuting is beyond me - and despite providing numerous pictures to Giant of the frame number they are refusing to honour their "lifetime warranty" on the frame. Frame number is clearly listed on my order but they cannot seem to recognise their own information. Shoddy workmanship and shoddy service. Will never purchase a Giant bike again.

I bought a Liv simple 3 it’s a 600$ beach cruiser. I literally rode it once and the seat broke. I’m not a tiny girl but I’m only 160lb And that soaking wet. It’s been two weeks and I still have not received the new seat. They just don’t care. It’s ridiculous. Save your money and buy a different brand bike. Horrible customer service.

GIANT PROPEL - Great bike, not existent support

On 2/25 I purchased a Propel ADV 1 DISC. I love the bike but, unfortunately, the front wheel was damaged when the bike arrived. The local (TX) reseller contacted GIANT that recognized the failing part and sent a replacement. Instead of a front wheel, they sent a rear one. The wrong part was sent back and, after some weeks, they sent a 65mm front wheel (original one is 42, designed for performance and maneuverability according to their advertisement) with decals of different colors. The local dealer gave up, the dealer where I purchased the bike never took over, GIANT is not answering my e-mails. I just filed a compliant with Bureau of Consumer Protection.

Good
I am very happy with the bike, but the parts are very bad. I buy a battery and it takes 2 weeks and it arrives in poor condition and I have to wait another week, apart I buy the battery protector and it takes 1 month, sorry I don't know which transport company they use but some companies take only 1-2 days at most take 5.

No ownership of issues, Amateur stock management and no effort to help.

Giant do not manage the stock when they sell an item. This means that if a local store sells the item after you've already bought it they will just refund you with the words sorry.

They are not willing to transfer stock, offer similar models or undertake any measure to correct their poor business practice. Blaming limitations of technology (which most other companies manages to avoid).

No offer of an alternate model, just a sorry which won't help people get to work.

Absolute horrible company and dangerous to own

Absolute horrible company. Chinese owned and represents everything that is wrong with buying poor Chinese quality. Innovation is lacking and quality is even less. Had a hub fail on the second ride, which they refused to address even through the material clearly failed. Next my son's $160 helmet retention system failed while riding and Giant will not respond. Once again looking at the attachment the material failed, again. I would suggest avoiding product from this company, if not for subpar quality of product but also their complete lack of attention to detail in manufacturing and the non-existent customer service.

Fathom 1 29er 2019 model

I bought a 2019 Fathom 1 29er at the end of 2018. I absolutely love the geometry of the frame, pure aluminum perfection. However its been a year and a half now and I pretty much need to replace everything haha. The Axon Suntour for was pure rubbish, didn't even last 6 months, luckily I upgraded to Rockshox. I can't blame Giant for the poor fork quality but I mean why are they putting this rubbish on a medium to high end hardtail?
The dropper post, made by Giant, had its last ride today hopefully, the stanchion kept its paint for about 6 months and since became a beautiful $hitty silver color. That didn't bother me too much but today it kept popping up and was mooshi when it was upright.
Now to the final part of my review, the wheelset and hubs. The wheels are good but the hubs were good for about a year. The hubs are absolutely fried after 8000km! Unfortunately the rear wheel works with a 9mm QR and not a through axle so finding a highend wheelset that will fit has been challenging..
So in conclusion Giant make very good frames, apart from my problem with how the rear wheel fits, but the rest you will have to replace within 2 years.

Rubbish frames

Within 2 years I had 3 Giant Revolt frames replaced on warranty because the top tube broke near the seat tube (not the weld itself, but the frame which is very thin at that point). For about a year, I've been riding a ToughRoad as they discontinued the Revolt for a while (I see it's back, hope the new model fixed the issue with the frame, I was not the only one to complain I was told). I was quite happy with the ThoughRoad until recently, now a crack appeared at exactly the same spot as with the Revolt. That'll be another replacement frame and another long wait until I have an intact bike.

I'm using the bike to commute for an hour every day, with a pannier rack on the back. I don't ride off-road or downhill (no such thing as hills in Cambridge). I'm 85 kg and never had this issue with any of my numerous other bikes. The only saving grace is the lifetime warranty on the frame, so 2 stars for that. I feel sorry for the store I bought it from, they have to transfer all the parts every time I get a new frame and I don't think Giant compensates them for the time.

Giant bike is the worst ever

Giant bike is the worst ever, the moment you buy your bike thats the end of your nightmare if you have a problem the customer service just don't care and they will give you a hard time to help you to sort the problem... think million times if you going to buy their bike, even the Rutland where you normally pick up your bike doesn't even helpful. They don't deserve even 1 star, if there is negative I will rate them negative.

Frame design failure and bad warranty

Did love my Giant Fastroad SLR 1 but the frame cracked a year later. The Giant warranty team offered me a replacement frame but was not the same one I had bought as it was not available, its a 2017 model so not exactly old. I offered to pay the difference on a frame that would be better for me but they refused and offered me a lower grade frame instead. Don’t know what the point of that was.
I was a fan of the brand but this service is not worth dealing with them again.
The frame warranty will leave you with something that you don’t want, it’s their fault their design failed. They should be doing everything they can to rectify it, particularly when it wouldn’t leave them out of pocket as I’d pay the difference.
