North and Southbound POOR

Stopped on journey south and on our return journey north. Ordered 2 breakfasts and both were cold after a long queue. Items missing on breakfast and no replacement offered. Whereas overheard other customers being offered something else. Spent a long time queuing for hot drinks which wouldn't have helped our breakfasts being cold. Due to timing and having to get back on the road didn't have the time to complain and wait for a replacement. Loads of trays left everywhere and dirty tables. Understand they were busy but staff were working very slowly.
Stopped Northbound hoping for better. Ordered 2 cottage pies with 2 vegetables. Cottage pies were warm but again vegetables that came with it were cold. Also the member of staff that served the food was abrupt when asked a question. The member of staff that severed the hot drinks was friendly and helpful. Definitely no rush in the catering staff. Good job it wasn't busy this time.
Started getting busier as we left.
2 visits North and Southbound and the food which all was tasty was let down by being cold.
With how expensive it is not very good at all.
Shame as we like to come here due to it being a farm shop and local food used.

Helpful service, above and beyond.

What great services and helpful, friendly staff! The gentleman on duty in the fuel station last night gave me lots of help with my car as I was travelling alone and had a problem. I was able to continue to Manchester safely and reassured. Thank you so much.I really appreciated your help on evening of 12th Feb. It was above and beyond.

Outstanding Customer Service!

We stopped at the southbound services and found the staff to be courteous and cheerful. The food was reasonably priced and tasted good. The toilets were clean and the hand dryers effective. One minor issue was the number of automatic soap dispensers that failed to dispense. However, the main reason for this five star review is a member of staff called Alex, who works in the cafe. Unfortunately, my wife left her purse and phone on a table and didn't realize until we'd reached our destination in Weston super Mare. Upon phoning the services, we discovered that Alex had found them and kept them safe until our return the following day. In a world where so many people are out for themselves, it warms the heart to know that honesty and integrity does still exist. I should also mention that all the staff involved in returning my wife's possessions were efficient and honest. Many thanks to you all.

Enjoyable

My husband and I have stopped at both southbound and northbound services for meals and buying food. I would love to have purchased some bread but seeing it sitting uncovered with people touching it and coughing over it really put me off. I followed one woman from the toilets who didn’t wash her hands and moved a couple of loaves about. Disgusting. I think they should put it in paper bags or cover it some way for health and hygiene.

Don't stop if you have a Nissan Leaf

Don't stop if you have a Nissan Leaf! We used the ev chargers here regularly 3-4 years ago. But they no longer have a connector for a Chademo socket. Staff have begged management for an adaptor but without success. So I'm sitting waiting for a tow truck to take me to another charging site. Gloucester Services have abandoned those of us with older electric cars

I was served by a lovely lady called Natalie.
It was quite late in the evening, and even then she was happy and chatty! Which just made the long journey ahead feel a lot better when you see lovely people.
Commendable service, thank you Natalie!

Really poor service and wraps :(

Really poor service and wraps :(
We visited Gloucester services a few years ago and loved it so were really looking forward to going again on our trip to Devon. Gosh! sadly it seems to have really gone downhill. We 'treated' ourselves to lunch- I say treated because for £10+ a wrap we were expecting a treat. I'm vegetarian and the only veggie wrap option was vegan tofu. We had to wait over 25 minutes for them to sort it somehow (it wasn't busy at all). I was beyond disappointed when I received it. It tasted of nothing. Just plain tofu with some measly grated carrot and soggy iceberg lettuce, with lots of water dripping out for some reason. No flavour. It was the worst wrap I've ever had. If you're going to charge that much for a wrap it needs to taste amazing. My partner said his chicken wrap was ok but was also not the best. We felt really disappointed.

We also noticed that the staff seemed really disinterested and miserable. They really didn't seem happy at all bless them and the atmosphere was way off. This sort of thing normally comes from above and how staff are treated from my experience. Sadly we will be avoiding coming again. Also here's some tasty veggie wrap suggestions...hummus and roasted veg, halloumi, falafel, feta...tofu fried in some flavourful spices. Please anything but what's on offer!

Avoid at all cost

Decided to stop here because of all the hype but l don’t know how they achieved any awards.
Absolutely terrible experience
Totally disorganised, food overcooked bacon so crisp it was inedible and only given half a rasher and breakfast not cheap at £12.50 , tables not cleaned , very slow service causing long queues.
Could go on and on but not wasting more of my time.

JUST AVOID

Sorry Dunning’s but just not good enough

Warning to EV ChadeMo drivers

If you are driving a ChadeMo car (such as a Leaf) don't stop at Gloucester to re-charge. Their nice new charging stations do not include any Chademo connectors - no not even one!
Michael Wood has - stop there.

Hope you like weak tea!rinks

Our coach has just stopped for drinks. Cup of Tea served in glass cup, hot water with tea bag. I added milk and it was still hot water and milk! As I had been charged £3.15 I thought I wd ask for another tea bag as I like to taste tea. Girls looked at each other, muttered something to each other and reluctantly gave it to me. Not the best public relations!!

Artisan experience

I have been visiting Gloucester services for years and they never fail to give great service. the products in their farm shop and at their take away areas are fantastic. Have since found a new truffle popcorn there, my family love it - has a dog on the packet :)
They are our go to, to find new artisan products both to take away with us and to have for lunch. Great services, North & South.

Read the small print for £1 kids deals

Stopped for breakfast with our granddaughter. We ordered 2 adult breakfasts and asked for a £1 child offer sausage bap. We were charged the full price of £4+. When we asked why was told that a childs portion is 2 sausages on toast not on a bap. How ridiculous!!
We waited so long for two coffees that our breakfasts were going cold. Definitely won’t be bothering again.

Very disappointed- have always used…

Very disappointed- have always used Gloucester services in preference to other services but breakfast luke warm by the time we queued and bought drinks. Think we were overcharged 2 westmorland breakfasts, a sausage sandwich, poached egg, 2 coffees and a tea - £48.75 but it was so busy we didn't like to query it. Toilets were dirty and 2 hand dryer were out of order. Went to the shop, young man put my £3.85 loaf of bread through at £5.50. It's all getting overpriced and run by young people who don't know how to smile - leaves plenty of room for improvement.

Disappointing -

This was the Southbound service area.
It used to be an iconic, "must visit" that everyone needed to put on their bucket list. Everything was terrific, with sensationally good restaurant food, marvellous fresh produce, spotless loos and excellent service.

However, last night I visited again, at 9pm and whilst the farm shop produce was still very good and the freshly cooked food (shepherd's pie and a hot pud) was palatable, there were some real shortcomings:
1. The lavatory cubicles were being cleaned, but those that were available were disgusting. They ought to be cleaned more frequently.
2. The shop checkout was manned by a single, excellent, person. But she was was "checking in" overnight caravan stayers, who were in the same queue as the food shoppers. The caravan checking in was a lengthy process, lasting several minutes. The queue built up, until almost 20 people were waiting.... Another staff member was clearing up, but volunteered to man another till, to be advised she couldn't, because "he's cashing up and they're closed".
Improvements are needed:
1. The organisation needs reviewing. If the laborious caravan process can't be speeded up, at least one other till ought to be manned.
2. Prioritising closing up, cleaning, restocking and cashing up, over customer service is a poor reflection on the priorities of the business.
N.B. Supermarkets do all that stuff after the shop is closed.
3. Previous, recent, Trustpilot reviews are very similar This suggests an in-depth reappraisal is needed, to get it back to what it used to be.

Avoid at all cost Drive to the next…

Avoid at all cost Drive to the next services. Today was not a one off forget the cost we all know that all services are a rip off but you do expect what you pay for. We had two bacon baps with one piece of bacon shared between the two and no butter, the bacon was cooked the day before. I will never call in there again and will definitely not encourage anyone to go in there. Why I went in there again I will never know. They are not even worth the 1 star I had to give.

Downhill

Really highly rated this services before but we went today and were very disappointed. We got sausage roll and chips from the quick order but service was slow and no salt & sauces available. I did ask and staff were kind enough to provide salt but service was extremely slow. Toilets were not as clean as previous visits. Very disappointing. Only plus was the butcher counter were we found staff very informative and friendly and we went away with more purchases than we planned. I will visit again in near future but in my opinion it definitely has gone downhill in the last 18 months or so. Hopefully next visit will be more positive.

Complete pisstake

The difference between the picture of the kebab wraps and what you gave me is a disgrace, a complete and utter pisstake, I want my money back and you to change the pictures to reflect the measly amount of onion, carrots etc… you serve. The server told me they couldn’t change the photos now, well you need to, or the veg portions you serve. Daylight robbery.
