James was friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. We tried several local shops to get walking shoes without success and with little to no real help. James was excellent in GoOutdoors, reassuring us and advising so well.

Excellent knowledge and professionalism. The patience shown by Joe was exceptional, I took 2 hours to choose boots and he never lost interest and was genuinely interested in helping us get the best boot. James was also brilliant. Both lads went over and above.

Whilst on our walking holiday in the Lakes my old trusted boots finally gave way! I went to many of the shops in Ambleside but it was Go Outdoors who gave the best service, in particular Sophie. She was extremely patient and nothing seemed too much trouble. I walked out with a great pair of walking boots which were perfect for our 10 mile walk the next day.

I wanted a budget pair of waterproof walking shoes and the guy who served gave excellent advice and was extremely professional and customer focussed. The women’s shoe fitted a little narrowly on me so he suggested I try the same size in the equivalent men’s model. They were a perfect fit. When I went to the till to pay, another male staff member was equally professional. He helped me renew my membership card and added my YHA discount and I still saved on the ticket price so came away very satisfied.

Joe was a very knowledgeable, competent and experienced asset to the company. He guided me effortlessly to 1 of the best fitting and comfortable hiking boots ever. He took the time to understand my needs and presented a small selection from the vast display within my budget. He wanted to understand what I wanted to do, shared his own hiking experiences, then made other product recommendations. I have never been happier and trusting to but more stuff!!!!! Great service. The Ambleside store was very well set out, clean and welcoming. The staff were very friendly, willing to help and also knowledgeable about the products. Great experience getting new walking shoes, rhys upstairs had a great knowledge of their stock, managed to find something that worked for me really well. Even went as far as to take a pair of shoes off one of the mannequins to try. Thank you to the rest of the team aswell for being friendly smiley and talkative.

Good service from Joe! He is polite and helpful,gave us a good opinions about the hiking shoes. I didn’t expect to find a pair of shoes I liked in the very first shop – they’re really comfortable. Joe is also a keen climber, so he can offer expert advice.
