I bought a set of expensive Scarpas from a Dundee store. After wearing them for half and hour, it was clear there was a design glitch in one of the boots, which meant a small pea sized stitch-ball, started digging into my ankle. As an experienced mountain and hill enthusiast, I knew this would only get worse with time and distance. I spoke to the super helpful Blacks in Dundee, who said that I could take them to my local store, which was G.O Inverness. Il dropped them off on my way to Ullapool
The Assistant Manager, Giles, phoned me a day later, saying that he had inspected the boots and would not accept them in return. I reiterated that only by wearing them, would he be able to feel the glitch. He then started waffling on about it being subjective blah blah. I offered the opinion that liking the colour was subjective, but pain isn't (by the way...I'm a Doctor, so I can confidently say pain is not subjective!)
I think he maybe just liked the sound of the word, as he used it a lot, even if he didn't seem to know what it means.
At this point, I then started getting a lecture about profit and loss, cost margins, stock inventory, and I started now to realise that Giles might be a bit of an idiot.
He actually advised me to lace the boots looser, and miss out a set of eyelets, so advising me to use the product in a way they aren't designed to be used, and defeats the whole purpose of wearing secure mountain boots. Real cuckoo stuff!
In addition to now being a Doctor, I'm and ex marine, and know my kit, and know my body.
Giles seems to now....absolutely nothing, about anything.
The staff in G.O Inverness were actually great, hence not 1 star but 2. Giles though?....well; not so much, and I will not be back to that store anytime soon.

The staff here were amazing, Edward and Giles helped ensure I got the best products for my needs, I had to return a tent unopened and pick up lots of other things. I was given advice on best tent and rucksack for my needs. I was ignorant on the subject but left feeling confident with my purchases, have been back again since. Thank you all staff for help and service.

We came to the Inverness store for rucksack rain covers for our 22l sacs. We couldn’t find them where the backpacks are located (they were all too big). Katia asked if she could help us and she found the small covers near the tills. Many thanks for the assistance.

I have been given a £50 gift voucher for gooutdoors. However, you cannot use gift vouchers online - inconvenient. So, I visited the Inverness store to purchase a particular product - a certain fishing reel - and was told they had no stock and were unlikely to get any. They do not allow you to order in store and collect at a later date. But they said there was one in Clydebank and then they shrugged their shoulders and wiped their hands of any further help. So, I contacted customer services online and they confirmed all of the above and said I should call the Clydebank store before travelling to collect the item. THEY DON'T SEEM TO TAKE ON BOARD THAT FOR ME TO TRAVEL TO CLYDEBANK IS A 500 MILE ROUND TRIP AND SOME 12 HOURS TRAVEL - FOR A £59 FISHING REEL. Absolutely pathetic and uncaring. Your systems and procedures are awful.
** I got an email from customer services following the review I have posted and they wanted to see if they could help. After answering a few of their questions they replied and said exactly what I had put in my review and that they could do no more. What a further waste of time that was. Clowns as far as customer service is concerned.

Service was splendid. Acquired a partial refund seamlessly when signing up for a Go Outdoors card after purchase. Kasia and Catrina were very good.

No care for the items at all, I was given a fleece without bag or protective packaging, it’s like a borrowing from a friend

Took my Daughter in to the shop this evening to get some new walking boots for her hill walk at the weekend. Found a nice fitting pair that were wide enough for complete comfort. Also managed for the first time ever to get a pair of trousers to fit her that were designed for hillwalking and climbing. The person that served us at the till, Edward was amazing, very welcoming and polite. He gave brilliant customer service and even managed to find my discount card on the system using my name and postcode. Gave great advice if we needed to return any of the items too. All in all the most successful trip to Go outdoors yet.

From the moment I asked for help, Ed, the manager, came to my assistance and was very helpful in helping me to find the right walking shoes. I tried on quite a few different brands, and Ed was patient and knowledgeable throughout, helping me decide which pair suited me best.
He then helped me choose a waterproof jacket, and I eventually decided on a Berghaus GORE-TEX jacket.
GO Outdoors is a great store, with a good selection of well-known and trusted outdoor brands, and the staff are always happy to help, polite and patient. Ed, in particular, was exceptional today. He was very busy and was called several times by colleagues who needed his help and knowledge about products, but not once did he pass me on to another member of staff. He stayed with me throughout and made sure I was completely happy with my purchases before I left.
Excellent customer service — thank you, Ed!
