They call it spellcheck, but it only works 1/6 of the time. Thats it's its whole point, and it fails to do its intended purpose. However, this experience was specifically on the Canva service, as for Google Docs, it works fine. It would also be nice if it worked on Google Slides.
I bought the 7-day trial, and now I feel upset, because as it turns out, it is the money worth... Even "shut up and take my money"-level worth..
But somehow stating that 'it is its money worth' is registered as a grammatical error. Grammarly wants to change it to "not worth the money" the whole time....
It used to be a much better option for people with issues like dyslexia. Unfortunately, salespeople have determined that allowing you to make mistakes will increase sales. There are far better options out there. What started as a great idea because spell check was designed for normies has now become just another tool to squeeze money out of you without giving you real control over your communication capabilities. Rather than correcting blatant spelling issues, they would try to coerce you to buy a premium package that does not match up to advertised outcomes!
Excellent analysis tool, but not an editor.
I used Grammarly Pro during the trial period and received excellent results for small blocks of data. My use, during the end-of-year holiday season, extended outside the trial period due to the calendar timing. I discovered, however, that its current design does not allow it to edit large amounts of existing text efficiently AFTER extensive composition. It is an outstanding and efficient tool when used "as you compose". When I discussed this issue with Grammarly support, they readily admitted it was currently not the right app for my needs, and I received instant credit on my bank account for the subscription payment. A trustworthy company, indeed.
A greedy company and its useless after we have things like ChatGPT, it always asks you to upgrade, then stops even checking grammar if you are on the free plan. Altogether, their AI integration is also horrible, the old grammar checker is broken because of their "smart check" system. Just use ChatGPT instead. Why would someone use this company
I've been using Grammarly for several years now, both for my business (content writing) and communication. The service is easy to use and a much-needed step for making sure your content is error-free and sounds good.
I recommended it especially to anyone writing content, be it for their job or for pleasure.
The spell checker is the thing I use the most, though I also consider some of the style recommendations.
The Plagiarism and AI checkers are also very helpful in my case, as I write articles and can immediately test them.
I use the Grammarly Premium service because I need all the extra features, but amateur writers can survive with the basic product, I'm sure.
I'm giving it 4/5 because some recommendations don't make sense, and the service doesn't understand slang or specific language. Also, it can sometimes go in a loop of recommending changes to the same thing back and forth.
It's overall a good service and something I use daily anyway.
Accidentally forgot to cancel my subscribtion after my free trial. Cancelled it on the same day, and contacted their support. They refunded my subscription.
Fantastic support, when they didn't have to.
Over priced and dishonest subscription renewal policy
I am extremely disappointed by this situation and would like to raise a formal concern. I previously held an annual subscription costing £120. After using the service no more than three times, I realised it was not what I had expected and therefore stopped using it. To prevent any renewal, I took all reasonable steps, including deleting my account, and believed this had resolved the matter.
However, upon recently reviewing my bank statements, I was shocked to discover that I have been charged again for an annual subscription, without any prior notification or warning. I have been trying to resolve this issue for over a week now but, unfortunately, have not received a satisfactory response.
I am particularly concerned that the charge was taken without any advance notice, which I understood would be standard practice. I would sincerely appreciate a full refund of this charge as soon as possible. I hope this matter can be resolved promptly and amicably, without the need for further escalation.

Grammarly used to be a dependable tool. Not perfect, but stable enough to justify the subscription. Then, almost overnight, the entire platform collapsed. Features stopped working, the interface became glitchy, and basic functions that had been reliable for years suddenly broke. It feels like the product was handed over to a team that has no idea how to maintain it.
Support has been even worse. I reached out multiple times, provided details, screenshots, everything — and got absolutely nothing back. No acknowledgment, no troubleshooting, no resolution. Just silence. For a paid service, that’s unacceptable.
When I finally requested a cancellation, they denied a refund for the remaining credits even though the service is clearly not functioning as advertised. That alone tells you everything you need to know about where their priorities are now. They’re happy to take your money, but they won’t stand behind the product.
The decline has been so fast and so severe that it’s hard to believe this is the same company. Grammarly has gone from a reliable writing tool to a chaotic, mismanaged mess that feels like it’s being run straight into the ground.
If you’re considering paying for Grammarly right now, don’t. Save yourself the frustration. This platform is in freefall, and the people running it clearly aren’t interested in fixing anything.

I’m sharing my experience in detail so others can decide for themselves.
I used Grammarly on a monthly plan from August to November 2023. After I stopped using the service, I attempted to cancel my subscription in November 2023.
After this cancellation attempt, my account was converted to an annual plan. I did not intentionally choose or agree to an annual subscription.
From late 2023 onward:
• I did not log into my Grammarly account.
• I did not use any Grammarly features.
• I received no paid service.
Despite this, my account was charged for annual subscriptions in December 2023 and December 2024.
I only discovered the issue in December 2025 when PayPal notified me of another charge. I immediately blocked the payment on the PayPal side, and PayPal returned the funds.
Only after PayPal intervened did Grammarly respond. In their email, they stated that my cancellation in 2023 “was not completed successfully” and that they had “reversed” the latest charge. However, the refund had already been processed through PayPal before their response.
I find it deeply concerning that:
• a cancellation attempt can result in an annual subscription,
• charges can continue for years without any service usage,
• and the responsibility is framed as a failed cancellation rather than a system or design issue.
All login and usage records are verifiable on their side.
I’m posting this so others will be extra careful to confirm cancellations and not assume that an attempt to cancel actually stops billing.
I get irritated because I am dyslexic. I have expressive dyslexia and my words are chosen differently to what most would interpret. Grammarly is okay recognising some of my grammar while you speech text but more words like shows. That was meant to come out as. Showls of fish not shows speech texting family often does not hear your correction or your vocabulary it’s so annoying as well when I’m in a rush I need to type because my fingers are thick and cannot use the keyboard so I use speech text and sometimes it comes out like a load of crap and then I get picked up on it because I’ve already sent it and realised that I’ve made mistakes or Grammarly has made the mistakes. I wish they were correct this and improve it. must be so bad for blind people to use. because words are used whether you do not intend to use them and people pick up often being very nasty as bad enough been express dyslexic.
Cancel subscription and they still charge you, extremely hard to talk to anyone regarding the incident. There are better ways

Initially Grammarly allows you to pay monthly with the option of cancellation if not happy, it suddenly changed to annual subscription with auto renewal so even if you used it for a few hours or even one essay for testing you are forced to pay for the whole year, so they are only concerned in collecting your money, no customer service or concern.

I was charged $205 without an email or a warning that my MONTLY free trial was going to run out. I emailed them and was answered two days later and was told I would get a refund in 10 days. It’s currently december 20th and I’m a cegep student who is not financially supported by her parents. Very disappointing for an app I deleted the moment I purchased it as the use of ai is garbage and the corrections did not make sense.
Grammarly’s product itself is useful, but the subscription and pricing experience is extremely frustrating. It is unnecessarily difficult to access a true free trial or to pay monthly. Instead, users are pushed toward quarterly or yearly payments, often without clear, upfront transparency.
This kind of design creates major dissatisfaction. Many consumers feel misled or pressured into longer commitments they did not intend to make. Making the process technically confusing increases the risk of people accidentally subscribing to plans they didn’t want, which damages trust.
If Grammarly wants long-term success, it needs to prioritize transparency over tactics. Make monthly pricing easy to find, make trials clear, and stop creating friction that feels intentional. A great product should not rely on confusing subscription flows to retain customers — trust and clarity are what build loyalty.
Grammarly charged me yearly subscription even when I don't have any valid paid subscription which was also confirmed by their chat bot that I don't have any valid subscription. Yet I was charged $214.33 AUD / USD 144 on 11th Dec under their reference N6KLATX.
I raised a ticket with them on 13/12 but I have had no response. This is very frustrated specially this time of the year when you have other expenses and a hit to your wallet for such an amount hurts specially when it is not a value charge .

I forgot to cancel my free trial for Grammarly pro and have only used it once during the free trial to help with my university application. They have only given me a partial refund even though I cancelled it straight away, the same day they took it out of my account. I’m 17 years old and I’m trying to save for higher studies and can’t afford to lose any money at this time as having a job along revising is challenging within itself and can’t spare this money at this time. I have told this to them and they aren’t responding to me. Don’t use Grammarly.
