As everyone says...diabolical airport…

As everyone says...diabolical airport experience. Passport control takes hours and you can't go to it until your gate is announced. Nearly half the plane would have missed the flight if they didn't wait for everyone. It's so simple to fix too (if you are remotely operationally competent, which sadly they seem not to be). Lots of pointless shops with minimal places to sit, eat or drink too. Who designed this mess?!

Worst airport ever

Worst airport ever, 2 hour passport queue on arrival. Return trip we walked from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 to checkin. Then a bus took us back to Terminal 1 to enter the transit area, we then walked back towards Terminal 2 to board. How can Geneva charge airport fees. Geneva airport is a disgrace to the Swiss brand….stop using the tagline Swiss You Soon. Must dash we now need to get on another bus to board the plane - Geneva I won’t be seeing you soon.

What a 3rd world country airport.

What a 3rd world country airport.
I had an early morning flight, so I lay down on a floor to catch some rest as I had no other choice. Security guard came at 4am and KICKED ME in the foot to wake me up.
Whilst at the same time there were obvious homeless people pushing literal trollies full of garbage trough the airport.
I haven't been treated like that at any airport in the world. Disgusting.

Excellent. On one condition - you have a Swiss or EU passport..
Free drop off and even free parking for pick up if you're organised.

Will never fly from this airport again

Will never fly from this airport again, what a terrible experience, if you do happen to fly out of this airport make sure you give yourself 5hours. It’s laid out poorly. If our flight wasn’t delayed by half hour then we wouldn’t have been able to get on the plane in time because of 4 people only doing passport control when the queue was absolutely ridiculous. ENORMOUS queues for passport control
Having (fortunately) arrived in good time for my flight , the only part of the airport I was able to experience was the hour’s queue for passport control
Inadequate staffing and poor organisation- Not an airport to go to if you have a choice

Geneva airport was the worst I have…

Geneva airport was the worst I have travelled through. The passport control staff were managing the queue so badly. They had multiple gates they could use but didn’t. It was like arriving in a third world country not the most efficient country in the world. What a total embarrassment for Switzerland.

Passport control queue the stuff of nightmares!

The airport presumably were well warned about the new EU requirements. Yet I waited an hour and a half in February to clear passport control. We’ve just landed again today, a Saturday, close to the Easter holiday busy season, and I have never seen a queue like this horror in my life. We cannot even see the end, and behind us it is as long again. Anticipating several hours. Many people are missing transfers, bus and trains.

SURELY more staff could be put on to deal with the additional demand? It’s hardly hard to predict that the weekends will be busy. We will be going to Chambery or Lyon in future, I’ve had it with Geneva. Dreadful airport.

Interestingly they also declined to publish my review on their site!

It’s a dreadful airport

It’s a dreadful airport. Passport control going in is slow and looked after by pissed off people. Going out it’s full, small and over priced. I now use anywhere else apart from Genève.

Coffee price is as high as the gold price !

The price of coffee and water inside the airport is excessively high!!
Water is so essential, it’s immoral to sell a smal bottle for Chf 4!! There aren’t many places to refill water.
And a coffee for Chf 7.50 ?!!!!!
Most of the time it’s not even the best of the coffee. And not served with a smiling face !
Staff in most shops are not very welcoming or polite.
I was shocked to see the general review score of 1.8!!!

Unbelivable airport

I’ve been flying through this airport annually for 20 years, and it’s disappointing how little has improved. The services are completely inadequate for the current passenger volume, and the pricing is frankly exploitative. The only reason I’m giving even one star is for the security control—it’s the one area that has actually seen genuine improvement over the last two decades. Everything else is a letdown.

Staff at Fashion Gallery didn't allow me to buy

Tried to buy something in the Fashion Gallery but one sales woman kept saying "is not for sale". Which I replied, if they are not selling that item, they shouldn't expose it. Like many people in this city, just said "I don't know". She made the shop loose my purchase because I was really decided to buy a rain coat from RAINS but she said it was not possible because "is not for sale". Now I think she was discriminating me.

Geneva airport is a fiasco

Arrived on 7th Feb. Took 2.5hrs to clear passport control. Saw my previous flight cleaned, repacked, reboarded and took off from the passport queue!
Absolute Armageddon in the baggage hall with incorrect information on the carousels and multiple flights baggage circulating. Baggage in piles on the floor. Missed 3 trains.
Returned to UK on 14th. Queued for 1 hour to go through unnecessary exit passport control. Gatwick passport control cleared in 10 seconds - compare and contrast these 2 experiences!

Truly Awful Airport

I’m not sure if Geneva airport is the worst airport experience I’ve ever had, but it must certainly be up there for being so consistently bad, and the staff so infuriatingly unbothered by the impact they have on customer journeys.
I will admit there are certain factors the airport can’t control- it clearly was never designed to cope with the sheer volume of air traffic moving through it in the winter ski season. However there are other areas where the airport and its staff really don’t help themselves- whether it’s assigning 2 people to passport control to check 300 passports that have arrived at the same time, having 3 people on a gate boarding desk but only 1 of the 3 actually letting people through (the other 2 just seemed to hover nearby) before belatedly realising they had made the plane late, somehow contriving to make a plane that landed 20 mins early 10 mins late by failing to get a set of steps to the plane for 30 mins, or the subsequent hour and 10 minutes (from the steps arriving, not the plane landing) it took for baggage to appear in the baggage hall; this airport seems determined to find ways to function badly. On both arrival and departure the airport somehow found ways to make the flight late despite the airline doing everything right to be on time. Sadly it seems to get more problematic each year, and with the new EU arrival requirements I suspect it will only get worse- the fact that the BBC name-checked Geneva as one of the airports expected to struggle with the new system most (because frankly it struggles enough now), surely can’t bode well.

Geneva airport arrivals 7th circle of hell

Saturday arrival into Geneva was horrific - over 90 minute wait for passport control compounded by over half the passport control booths being unoccupied. Luggage hall was bibilical - strewn cases everywhere that had arrived an hour earlier.
Switzerland is meant to be a by-word for efficiency but Geneva airport is quite the opposite - NEVER again on a Saturday - EVER
