I phoned Harratt's Renault up about a noise on my brakes, I spoke to Andrea and she was so very helpful and booked me in for a couple of days later ( could have been sooner but that was my choice due to work commitments). Andrea is so polite, helpful and informative and so are all the staff at Harratt's. My car got booked in and sorted the problem out for me which I was very grateful for. I have nothing but praise for the Harratt's team and they left me 100% satisfied and I have every confidence in the whole of their team.
Mr Derek Welka.

Car Service & MOT - Excellent customer service!

I recently had my car serviced and MOT’d at Harratts Wakefield. The customer service provided was excellent right from the initial telephone contact at booking and including car pick up and drop off and follow up service. All staff were friendly and helpful. The precautions taken due to the pandemic made me feel perfectly safe. Would highly recommend.

Admin error caused delays

Initially contacted them regarding a vehicle and they promised to get back to me with more details and they never did (probably as the car had been reserved already). Called again a few days later and bought the car we were interested in. As it was previously prepared for a another buyer the car was ready to go and we were able to pick it up that day. All went well then the log book arrived!!! How can you make so many mistakes in a legal document!! 3 letters in her name were wrong so she is having to return it to dvla for amending but this has caused delays in her insurance/reg plate assignment. Can't rate the car as barely driven it yet but it is in immaculate cosmetic condition and a good price.

Do not use

Initially polite and helpful, but when I decided not to buy they tried to pressure me into making the purchase (oddly by repeatedly telling me there was no pressure, whilst two salesmen stood over me as I sat in the showroom on a plastic chair well away from any furniture - quite intimidating).
I’d paid a £200 credit card deposit to reserve the car, but after 5 phone calls and 3 emails over the last month have not been able to get money back.
I would strongly recommend a high level of caution if you feel the need to use this dealer.

Excellent experience

Just want to say a big thank you to Steve at the Pontefract branch. After months of looking for a new car, I finally purchased one from here after seeing it driving by, nothing was too much trouble, and he wasn’t pushy at all with the sale which made a big difference for me, he was knowledgable about the cars he was selling, very honest and reliable. I had previously had a very bad experience with a different ‘franchised local dealer’ in the area when buying my first car and i thought it had put me off buying a new car for life as everywhere else are very pushy, and try buy you into any car they can without any knowledge of the car they are selling, this was the total opposite experience, and I was also offered a reasonable price for my part ex too which sealed the deal. Thanks again! Reasonable prices and cars are all sorted as promised ready for collection

YH14VFG Vauxhall Astra sri…

I bought YH14VFG Vauxhall Astra sri estates from Harratts on 24/08/2020. The car looked nice and had full service history. I dealt with Tim on the phone who also sent me a video of the car as I live in north Wales. In the video Tim described the paint as “minor stone chips” and indeed he was right there were minor stone chips across the front end. This didn’t both me at all.

On the collection date of 24/08/202 I dealt with Zach. Zach literally was brilliant ! Can’t fault him one little bit!!

Any way ! The car was parked in direct sunlight and I had a look around. On my initial look around I noticed the brake pads had been replaced which was good and the car was clean.

I noticed the front towing eye cover was missing. To which I was told they’d pay for. During my drive home I pulled the sun visor down to block the sun only to find the mirror cover broken and fall on to my lap. On my return to home I found the brake discs still had a band of corrosion on the brake discs. This isn’t normal. Especially after driving 140 miles home. The next day I had the brake assessed and found that all brake discs were below the manufacturers limits. The tyres were also below their dedicated pressures too. It was also more clear that the vehicle had received a very poor repair on the near side rear quarter panel and door. This looked like it had been repaired before me buying it as the paint was fresh and over spray on the inner arch and rear axle. I felt like this car hadn’t actually been through a pre sales service at all. They didn’t even service or mot the vehicle !! I found it odd but as a mechanic and mot tester I took it as face value.

I brought the issue up with Jake Martin the sales manager, I sent all evidence of what repairs were needing along with quotes. The only expensive repair would of been the paint repairs.

Jake took his time to give me a decision, although he replied to my initial email quite quick to acknowledge the faults. He took his time in getting back to me.

In the end I started proceedings to reject the vehicle as it wasn’t as advertised and definitely wasn’t worth the £4290 I was paying ! Since they’ve re advertised and added an extra £200 to it !!

This dealer is a daylight stealer !! If your even looking at this car please check over it throughly !! The brake discs still had corrosion on them a week after using it !!

I have photographic evidence of everything I have mentioned too. This review can and should be found on Google too !!

Please be aware ! And don’t pay over the odds for a car that needs body repairs !!

Harratts Used Car Sales Darton

I bought a used Astra a couple of days before Covid Lockdown in March 20. The sales service was friendly and professional. The vehicle seemed a fair price and had full service history and I was told had just had a full service. I was offered an extended warranty which I was reluctant to take as in my experience, warranty companies will always use the 'wear and tear' clause to avoid covering a fault. The sales person told me that in their experience this provider was very good and usually didn't do that. I therefore paid for an extra 6 months.

During lockdown, the vehicle was rarely used, and by August I'd only done 1000 miles in it. I began to notice that upon starting, it was difficult to get into gear, and it got to the point it was impossible to select reverse.

I called Harratts and they asked me to take the car in and lent me a courtesy car while they kept it overnight. I called the next day and was told the car was being worked on and that it would be ready to collect that afternoon.

I went to pick it up (60 mile round trip) and was told it needed a new clutch. I at first assumed they'd done the work but was then told they hadn't and that the used sales manager needed to be consulted on whether they'd cover the work on the basis that the clutch had failed after around one normal month's usage post-sale.

That was a Thursday and the service desk rep told me he'd call back that afternoon or failing that, the following morning. I heard nothing, and after numerous phone calls I finally caught up with the rep on the following Thursday. Not surprisingly he was 'just about to call me'!

Also not surprisingly, the verdict wasn't in my favour. The used sales manager said they wouldn't cover any of the cost of a new clutch. Also, the rep had spoken to the warranty provider who said, surprise, surprise, it was wear and tear and not covered.

So in summary, I had a vehicle for 6 months, the clutch went and the garage wouldn't contribute to the cost of replacing it. Most wouldn't I'm sure. However, factor in that I'd only driven 1000 miles in it in since purchase and that seems less fair. Also the fact that they had me make two 60 mile round trips for nothing leaves a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. They had an opportunity to get a great review on here by potentially exceeding expectations and covering the issue to instill some goodwill, but didn't take that. Hence the 2* review.

Harrats Nissan Wakefield

I recently bought a used Nissan Qashqai from Harratts Nissan in Wakefield, after a month of ownership I could not be happier with the car, the salesman Dale Rees went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the car before I purchased it, he was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had and was very easy to deal with not your typical salesman, there were some issues I pointed out that were rectified before I picked it up at their cost which saved me £100's. Overall I was sold a top quality used motor and given good advice in terms of warranty ect. Perfect car for me and my family, and I would definatly use them again.

Just purchased a Nissan Micra from Harratts Nissan in Wakefield.
The service is brilliant, We never felt rushed or hurried in any decision we made . The salesman Lee was great made us feel we were truly appreciated, he was very knowledgeable and got us a fantastic part ex deal on our previous car ,
Everything went smooth and upon the collection of the new car again everything was explained to us about the many controls on the dashboard which was brimming with stuff I never knew existed .
I would not hesitate purchasing a car again from them . The staff was very friendly also . We were presented with a full Valeting bag to help keep the car in pristine condition when we picked up the car .

Just bought a second hand Leaf here

Just bought a second hand Leaf here. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, price was fair.
My taxi dropped me off at the wrong place, and they sent a car to collect me, which was a great help.
The only problem I had was making the payment: they didn't tell me they don't accept card payments and I had to mess about doing it online. Took me hours to buy the car, as I don't memorize my 12 digit number to log on. I'd have noted it down, had i been told before leaving home.
I'm OK with not taking credit cards (which I could cancel after driving off, giving them trouble) but debit card payments can't be stopped once paid. It seems like a silly policy to not accept debut card payments.

I'm hoping that I won't need to use the warranty, but time will tell.

Abysmal

Dreadful service. The after sale service is non-existent. I bought a Sportage from this wheeler dealership. They were happy to take full payment for the car, but I have been chasing a replacement part under warranty for several months. I keep getting the same rubbish "I will chase it up and call you back" or "They are busy at the moment. Someone will call you back when they are free". I previously chased them up for a number of months when they promised that they would sort out any defects on the car before I picked it up, which they did not, hence why I had to chase them up.
AVOID BUYING FROM THESE NON-CUSTOMER FOCUSED MORONS.

Hi many thanks for the feedback and I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Having spoken with the Sales Manager he has informed me that he sold you the car unaware of the damage to the vehicle as we had purchased the vehicle as an ex-manufacturer owned car. He has told me that he tried to find you a replacement vehicle and that when he was unable to do so he refunded the full value of the car back to you. Once again I'm sorry about your experience and we have also passed your feedback through to our manufacturer representative to review.
