Used to be reasonable prices so I went…

Used to be reasonable prices so I went there instead of Haddenham but many of there perennials that 5 years ago were 5 or 6 quid are now nearly a tenner, it's more than inflation and it's consistent across their plants. Such a shame as the plants are great but so much more expensive than it should be now. I do hope they go back to affordable prices. Cost of roses doubled and climatis too.

Lovely selection of plants that are well cared for and at a good price. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The coffee shop is great and served the best scones I’ve ever eaten.

Lovely garden centre, Cafe needs to buck up their ideas!

Hartwell Nurseries is a really lovely garden centre. They have an amazing range of indoor and outdoor plants and more - I would recommend it. They also have a large restaurant/cafe with indoor - and outdoor seating, which I have enjoyed in the summer months. However, I felt compelled to write a review of the restaurant/cafe and this has made me drop stars in their review as I am DISGUSTED that they try and charge you for water to top-up a teapot.

I can sort of understand why they may be doing it, as if you JUST ask for hot water, you may, god forbid be bringing in your own teabag or something, causing them to lose out on a few pounds, but if you are buying a pot of tea, not only should bit be a given that you get a small additional pot or jug of hot water to top it up, they should definitely NOT try and charge you if you ask for one!!

It made me so angry and spoiled my experience of eating there. It's also a short-sighted policy as had I been able to top it up, I would probably have gone back for a cake after my breakfast, so they'd have got more cash out of me, instead I left as soon as I finished what became my too strong tea!

Well they can keep their policies and their food.

And as I can't respond to their response, I have added this: I mentioned in my review that I understand why you might be charging (in case someone actually brought in their own teabag, god forbid) - but if someone is BUYING A POT OF TEA, that shouldn't be your policy in those cases.

Hi Adie, thank you for taking the time to leave your thoughts, it is appreciated.
We're sorry you were upset by our hot water policy, people in the past have taken advantage of us and used the water for their own tea.
For example, in our eyes if a customer buys 1 cup of coffee we make that for them, if they'd like another cup we believe they should pay for it, as they will be having a second cup after all.

I hope you can understand our side.
All the best!
