Simply an amazing company to deal with from start to finish. All staff are so friendly with some going above and beyond of what you'd expect. HCA made my experience so smooth, getting met at the airport and transferred to the hotel, back and forth to hospital when required and back to the airport when I was finished. I would highly recommend anybody that is on a waiting list for surgery or awaiting a procedure in Ireland to consider this option. They work with a number of hospitals, mine was HCB Denia and again I can only say good about it, no waiting around and halpful friendly staff most with fluent English. Some HCA staff even came to visit while I was in there. A special thanks to Joe, Kevin and James for making my trip so enjoyable, I've made some friends along the way with other patients also 😊. If your considering this option my advise would be just go for it!! Thanks again to all at HCA!!

I decided to travel to Spain for my hip replacement and once I contacted Health Care Abroad all arrangements were very efficiently processed and weeks later I was on my way. From landing in Alicante to departing two weeks later, Health Care Abroad were top class. I was slightly anxious travelling on my own to Spain for my hip operation but I need not have feared. 1st class care in a 1st class hospital with everything running very efficiently and always informative all the time. The drivers are so thoughtful and caring and they go out of their way to help. The recovery is very comfortable in a beautiful hotel and resting in the sun goes a long way to recovery. We just wanted to thank you and your team again for everything.!!!! We had the best experience.
Starting with our phone calls with you, all details were looked after. It was amazing. Everything was thought out, organised and delivered with such care, empathy, attention to detail and professionalism. I especially appreciated your knowledge about the different types of hip operations and explaining everything to me. Also your diligence in making sure Udo's MRI images were looked at by a surgeon, even before travelling.
The drivers, always generous with their time, went the extra mile to get things for us, bantering to keep our spirits up, making sure we used the right leg going up and down the stairs, bringing us to our destination in the hospital and making sure we all turned up to our appointments.
The staff in the hospital were excellent and also tried to joke with us, even if they only had a few words of english. Hearing them laughing in the corridor was a tonic.
Dr Kleijn is a great surgeon and a gentleman, calling to me before I left the hospital. He even answered emails with questions within an hour.
Udo was also very happy with Dr Saab. He was walking upright again the day after surgery.
Physiotherapy was delivered with such professional gentle care, encouragement, patience and chats. I am also very happy with their aftercare - Physio App and possible on- line sessions.
Artur, our first encounter with the hospital was such a help, bringing us to every appointment and Caterina, also was on standby when we needed help and support. We never had to wait for anything in the hospital. All appointments ran like clockwork. Super teamwork by all concened.
The hotel was also well chosen, beautiful and so close to the hospital (and beach). We were extra lucky with our room facing into the garden area. Sunlounger outside our door!

Had TKR in May. Health care abroad couldn't have been more helpful and caring. I was looked after so well by everyone. The hospital staff and Dr Sendra were brilliant. But what made the whole experience amazing were the drivers, Vincent who collected me at the airport and Joe, Tony, Kevin and James. I returned again in August for another TKR and once again everyone at Healthcare Abroad were brilliant. Thanks for everything guys you were amazing

I recently travelled to Spain for back surgery. HCA were absolutely outstanding. From the minute we arrived in Spain we weren't alone through any part of it, transport to and from the hospital there was always someone to turn to. Joe, Tony,James and Kevin were so helpful not just to me but also my husband who traveled with me. I would highly recommend them.

From the first phonecall to the flight home the staff couldn't be more helpful.
The standard of service was way above my expectations. I will recommend healthcare abroad to everyone I know.

I cannot recommend Healthcare Abroad highly enough. From the very beginning, I felt completely supported, cared for and looked after throughout what was a very stressful and emotional journey.

A special thank you to Siobhan, who dealt with me from the very beginning. She was always so kind, patient and reassuring, and nothing ever seemed like too much trouble. Having someone there to answer my questions and guide me through each step made such a huge difference.

I also want to thank Sandra, who organised my GP referral and helped everything come together. She was incredibly helpful and made the whole process feel so much less overwhelming.

I am also incredibly grateful to Dr Lucas Minig, who looked after me during my treatment in Madrid. I felt that I was in very capable hands and was extremely grateful for the care I received.

And finally, a huge thank you to the lovely Javier, my driver in Madrid. He was absolutely wonderful — so friendly, helpful and reassuring, and always made me feel comfortable when travelling to and from my appointments.

Everyone I dealt with made an already difficult experience that little bit easier. The communication, organisation and personal care I received from Healthcare Abroad were fantastic, and I am so grateful to Siobhan, Sandra, Dr Minig, Javier and the whole team for everything they did for me.

The company’s response is misleading and does not reflect my documented experience!

Healthcare Abroad’s response does not address the central issues raised in my review and contains statements that are incorrect.

I was in regular contact with Healthcare Abroad throughout my treatment while I was in hospital in Germany. I also met directly with the hospital’s administrative staff to ensure that my application would be completed correctly. Before leaving the hospital, I obtained the documentation Healthcare Abroad had told me was required, including a fully itemised bill. I phoned the HCA Manager stating this on the day before I was leaving the hospital.

The claim that the necessary paperwork was not signed “at the outset” does not accurately represent the level of preparation and communication that took place. If any additional form, signature or consent was required, Healthcare Abroad should have identified this clearly and contacted me immediately.

More seriously, Healthcare Abroad cancelled my application after a secretary at the German hospital reportedly stated that I was not pursuing reimbursement. They accepted this without contacting me to verify the information or obtain my instructions before cancelling my application. Had they contacted me, I would have immediately confirmed that I absolutely wished to proceed.

Despite having cancelled my application, Healthcare Abroad continued sending me emails indicating that my application was being processed. I therefore believed that my case remained active when, in fact, it had already been cancelled without my knowledge. This is an extremely serious communication failure.

Their statement that I was “kept informed of the correspondence and progress” is therefore incorrect. I repeatedly had to seek updates myself and received several assurances that I would be kept regularly informed and that my case would be fast-tracked. Those assurances were not fulfilled.

Their website advertises waiting times “as little as 20 days,” says treatment is “FREE,” and states that the company looks after approvals and reimbursements. My experience bears no resemblance to the impression created by these claims. I have now spent over a year trying to pursue reimbursement.

I have retained the relevant emails, documentation and correspondence supporting my account. Rather than dismissing this as a matter of how I “feel,” Healthcare Abroad should acknowledge the documented failures, explain why my application was cancelled without contacting me, explain why I continued receiving processing emails afterwards, and state what concrete action it will now take to resolve my case.

My experience was a God send, The level of efficiency and support was amazing !
I had been messed around with the Irish health care system!
As soon as I spoke to Chris I felt relieved,and very confident with you.
I would highly recommend Healthcare abroad.Still receiving aftercare is amazing support to me .
The hospital was Amazing and very supportive and efficient.

I am heading home tomorrow after spinal surgery in Denia Spain. Healthcare abroad staff are top class . Nothing is an issue with them from organising my stay and operation in Spain to the 5 star service I recieved when I was here. My operation was 100percent successful and I can finally walk with no pain in my legs. It took 4 weeks from the first phone call to going home after operation. Paul in the Dublin office organised everything in 3 days from booking my stay to operation booking . All I booked was flights. 10 days I spent here and it was the best decision I ever made. A phone call to Dublin office is all it takes and you will have no regrets. 5 star all the way.

I honestly don’t know where to start, because there are so many people I want to thank for making what could have been an incredibly stressful experience so much easier.

From the very beginning, I was in contact with the Healthcare Abroad team based in Ireland, mainly through emails and phone calls. They were incredibly approachable, responsive and supportive throughout the entire process. They kept me informed at every stage, were always available whenever I had questions, and made sure I knew exactly what to expect next. Their communication and organisation were truly top-notch, and having that level of support made such a difference when preparing for surgery abroad.

Then, when we travelled to Valencia, we had the pleasure of meeting the local Healthcare Abroad team in person — Amy, John, Frankie and Adam. They were incredibly kind, welcoming and professional, and continued to make sure everything ran smoothly while we were there. Having people on the ground who were so approachable and genuinely caring gave us an enormous sense of reassurance throughout the whole experience.

A huge thank you also goes to Vithas Valencia Turia Hospital and the entire team there. From the surgeons and nurses to the physiotherapists and every member of staff we came across, everyone was incredibly professional, kind and compassionate.
The atmosphere in the hospital was something I will never forget. Even though I was there for surgery and was understandably extremely nervous, I always felt that I was surrounded by people who genuinely cared.
One particular moment will stay with me forever. When I was in the operating room, I was absolutely terrified. The staff around me could see how nervous I was, and the way they spoke to me, reassured me and literally held my hands to calm me down meant more to me than I can put into words. Those little gestures of humanity and kindness were absolutely priceless. At such a vulnerable moment, knowing that the people looking after you genuinely care makes all the difference.

Thankfully, my surgery went well and I am now back home recovering. Recovery is still ongoing, and obviously having surgery is never a particularly nice experience, but looking back, I feel incredibly grateful that I had such wonderful people supporting me throughout it.

I went to Dania Spain on 16/08/2026 through the Healthcare Abroad for a Spinial ( neck) Fusion, from start to finish I was treated so well, the drivers joe, James, Tony, & especially Kevin who went above & beyond for us, also Santos & Vincent who collected me from the airport, plus the administration staff , Chris, Debbie, Caterina, & Deidre with out who's help this trip would have been impossible, if I forgot anyone I apologise 100%, I would like a big thanks to Doctor Saab, the nurses & physio staff who were fantastic, plus the hotel & staff, I would like to say if anyone is in pain dont hesitate to contact Healthcare Abroad , thanks everyone for my start to finsh treatment.

From day one of contact with Chris I was satisfied that going forward I had made the right choice . Preflight assistance was so helpful and reassuring in regards to cost etc. On arrival the staff on site far surpassed my expectations . Every last one of the guys made the whole process seamless . The hospital was far above anything I had experienced at home . Meetings with the surgeon,
x rays , bloods and ecg all within an hour . So efficient. The group meeting on our first day with Joe was a nice touch. If you were travelling solo it would ease your fears . The hotel was close to hospital which made constant journeys short . The rooms were bright if a little dated but spotlessly clean . Good choice of food each day at a very reasonable cost .. All in all a great success brought on by the staff of health care abroad and I would champion there case to all I meet .. I didn't mention any of the guys individually as there are so many and would do an injustice to all , as each of them all made our stay so pleasant

This experience was made so good by the staff who were always informative and helpful, answering all questions clearly and helpfully, They would seem to have taken a really good idea and developed it into an experience to suit everyone's medical needs
