Natalie was great to deal with. Very empathetic and put my mind at rest about what support she would be able to provide over the coming months.

The service generally works well. What needs improving/refining is the summary tool that takes down the key points from the session. It takes too long to upload and the uploads are often too concise.... See more

Abandoned at my lowest
This is not a serious psychological support service. To explain...
I had been seeing a Hello Self therapist for a few months when I had a particularly bad depressive episode resulting in a self-harm attempt. Hello Self told my therapist that they had to stop seeing me in short order, which they did, "handing me over" to the NHS, which did absolutely nothing aside from the initial visit to A&E and putting me on a waiting list for an online group DBT course.
I don't blame the therapist as they were following instructions but the experience of being unceremoniously dumped by your therapist in the middle of a crisis is not one I would wish on anyone.
Thankfully, I have since recovered with help from my psychiatrist, new medication, and more serious psychological support (all private, of course), as well as some important life changes. I was extremely lucky that I could access the additional, more expensive private treatment at relatively short notice, in part thanks to decent insurance coverage. But what if I hadn't been that fortunate? I would have been left in a vulnerable state to languish on an NHS waiting list for the best part of a year, while Hello Self washed their hands off for fear of liability. Incidentally, I think cutting people off during a crisis might expose them to MORE liability, as they owe a duty of care to patients under treatment.
Based on my experience, I would therefore actively avoid this service if you think there is any chance of actual distress down the line and a need for anything more than basic 'here-are-some-handouts' CBT.
To add insult to injury, their credit control department kept chasing me to pay for the last session, telling me that they would cut me off further sessions if I didn't pay. As if I am ever going to use Hello Self again!
Good first session
My therapist was really nice and kind and able to understand where I am at.

My therapist was invaluable. I had 20 sessions with my therapist and throughout that time they were patient, understanding and through asking the right questions and active listening, was able to provide me with the tools I needed to be able to start managing unhelpful thoughts in a more practical way. I have come away from my sessions feeling more empowered and lighter.
As for Hello Self as a business; contact was great, and the portal was accessible. I would have no qualms in recommending Hello Self to others.

I would be lost without my councillor at the moment. She has over time really got to know m,my feelings and hang ups. She has provided some helpful tools to move forward.
Great support from my HelloSelf therapist
Great support from my Hello Self therapist and very valuable sessions.
I also appreciated the online tracker for monitoring wellbeing, and the weekly check in reminders which made it easy to reflect on progress or where things weren't going so well.

Compassionate and supportive service
Currently going through mental health issues, depression and anxiety, it is a lot to handle and sometimes I could just turn off my phone and emails and forget the whole thing but the help and compassion and understanding from everyone who I’ve talked to to help me is very humbling, professional, humane and very supportive indeed. And very much appreciated.

Very helpful service
Very helpful service. You need to be open minded and really engage with the exercises. I found it really improved things for me.
Fully processed my Complex PTSD
I had the most excellent therapist, Hellen. She was so understanding and patient with me - she was able to navigate me through deeply ingrained Complex PTSD that I'd been carrying around with me for decades. She taught me a range of techniques that have enabled me to process over 100 trauma incidents - and reinterpret them into something that is neutral (which doesn't carry the deep negative things any more).

I think Anna Manajeva is on fire. She asked me question after question without stopping. It felt like she broke into my subconscious and I can’t wait to see if she can do it again. Thank you.
Coping strategies for stressful situations
I am building tools mentally to allow me to cope with stressful situations subconsciously. My therapist has helped me to examine my behaviour and reframe it in a positive sense. She has also helped me cope with my recent ADHD diagnosis appointment.
