Reserving through Expedia or hurts

The pickup and the return were all great. The only problem was making the reservation. Initially I made the reservation for Friday on Expedia, but then I called the facility directly to find out the exact make and model of the car, and they told me that we don't have any cars for the weekend. So I made the reservation for Thursday pick up. But even then Expedia was allowing me to make a reservation. This time I made my reservation through Hertz directly.
