Location closed at pickup time. Received dirty, slightly beat up car following day.
I was late arriving for pickup as my flight had been delayed. My rental confirmation email stated that the location would remain open for two hours past their usual closing time if I had provided flight details (which I had). This was false and misleading information provided directly from Hertz.
The location ordinarily closes at 17:00. I arrived at 18:30 expecting staff to be onsite for at least a further 30 minutes based on information in my confirmation, however the location was well and truly closed with no staff available onsite. My frustrations were compounded when trying to find a phone number for Hertz which would lead me to an actual living, breathing human being to resolve my issue- unfortunately, this radical notion is exclusively reserved for fantasies.
When I shared my frustrations the following morning when returning to collect the car, staff were unapologetic and told me that after-hours collections were only available from airport locations. I showed staff my confirmation and pointed out that there were no conditions nor exclusions noted with regard to after-hours pickup at airport vs. non-airport locations (I’m happy to forward my confirmation or provide screenshots) and the confirmation specifically mentioned the North Gibson, Henderson location. Despite being pleasant to speak with, the staff member essentially shrugged off my grievances.
Customer facing staff at the location appeared to be “stretched”.
The car (EV) I received was not fully charged, not fully cleaned, and was a bit beat up with several scratches, dings and marks (inside and out).
I don’t often rent with Hertz due to similar issues I’ve previously experienced. The whole experience was disappointing and lived up to Hertz’s poor reputation. This was not the experience I was looking for after arriving following 20+ hours of international, long-haul travel.
I will concede that I rented from Hertz as it was significantly cheaper than its nearest competitor on this occasion. That being said, I suppose you get what you pay for.
