Very bad experience, too

Yesterday, I paid membership fee and made a booking for 5 days hence. The very next day, I received an email cancelling my reservation with no explanation. I contacted customer service and was advised that the van has a flat battery and as there is nobody to change/charge the battery, all bookings for the next 7 days have been cancelled. I have been left in the lurch as Hertz can provide no substitute vehicle or other resolutions. How a global brand can prove to be so unreliable, and so incompetent truly beggars belief! I have cancelled my membership and have now gone elsewhere, never to return.

Costs, customer service, bad overall experience

Costs... a lot of add-ons. Complicated and frustrating to go through approvals - driving licence picture uploads OK but selfie not, tried 4 devices. Was noit able to easily log damage - they called but you have to connect to bluetooth within the van immediately by phone - not mentioned. Managed to extend hire via app first time, then not second as they said the (Homebase) centre was closed - what a lot of rubbish ! Now in dispute over the extra charged as I was 6 minutes late. In the end, an expensive & frustrating experience. I won't be hiring from them ever again

Their own system shut down! Waited patiently for AA. Wasted my time to try and sort their system out (nothing wrong with the battery as they suggested - I have the AA report)
Was force to drive to a further location take a more expensive booking pay for parking and mileage caused me to be delayed for work. Then on the phone I get told that my booking will be made FREE of change due to the inconvenience. They knocked of £14 off the bill…. Contacted customer service for me to get disgusting and rude response.

I repeatedly receive emails requesting. £5.00 membership fee which will never be paid, for what exactly, my custom. Am I missing something here isn’t it the fact that loyal customers receive something back not have to pay a retention fee in between hiring. This is tantamount to a scam avoid this company like the plague.

We are contacting you in regard to your recent invoice 247-************, dated 2023-05-01.

We have attempted to deduct GBP5.00 from your credit/debit card however the payment has been unsuccessful. This attempt is in line with the terms and conditions which you agreed to upon taking the vehicle.

This is our formal notice that we are giving you one week to proceed with the payment. Once this time has expired, your account will be deactivated, and you will not be able to rent with us anymore.

Please ensure that all payment methods on your account are up to date and there are funds available on your card. We will continue to try and process the outstanding amount over the next few days.

Do not use. Avoid avoid avoid!

Do not use. I had booked a van to move out of storage. Got there, the van was there but they cancelled the booking because they couldn't get a signal to the van.

Spent 45 min on customer service, who were awful. Finally found a van at a different location and was considerably smaller.

Took a 2nd deposit and also refused to compensate me. 2nd van had unreported damage, causing more wasted time on the phone.

Go somewhere where you can speak face to face with the rep.

Avoid avoid avoid. Just wish I had read these reviews first.

Car rental process doesn’t work…

The Company sent me a reservation confirmation but did not inform me that I had to upload multiples documents before receiving the car. When I called there was no flexibility at all to solve the problem. Very bad customer experience.

Had to but 1 star against my better…

Had to but 1 star against my better judgement. What a cowboy useless outfit, went on their app passed all checks took my money no problems at all, went to pick the van up wasted journey as without notice they cancelled the hire and dropped me right in it. 6 days later the crooks still haven’t refunded my money.

Never use their app unless you want to be inconvenienced

I tried to hire a van from this company using the app. Everything went through fine and the van was booked for the following day. The money was taken out of my account in an instant then later they claimed I had failed their third party security check and my reservation was cancelled. When I asked why I was told some rubbish about how they could not prove I lived at this address, even though it is on my ID. When I demanded a refund they said it would take up to 10 working days, which is ridiculous. I then had to spend several phone calls chasing up my refund and was lucky to get through on their hotline. Customer service was appalling; there was no empathy or apology that they had messed me around. I also demanded compensation for all the inconvenience they caused me. I was told they could not oblige me; it was not in the company's policy. I have now written an official letter of complaint. Needless to say, I will never use this company or their app again. Avoid them like the plague. Very dissatisfied.

We hired a van from Costco in farnborough we was shocked on the state of it, how damaged it was and poor condition it was in .. tried ringing the phone numbers and wouldn’t answer .. report sheet was only half done and had to send email to tell them there was more damage on the van that wasn’t put down .. the computer on dashboard was even broken .. customer service is appalling .. then had someone hit the van and tried reporting accident on number they provided and on phone for ages and had give up till I went to Costco and asked if they had another number which they did have … they then took instantly £1200 out of bank for accident that wasn’t even our fault and no new damage on the van .. disgraceful .. whole hire was a nightmare from start to finish .. also you get given the fuel card and we got given no pin to pay for the diesel so we had to pay Ourselves extra and woman on phone said PIN number was on van .. no it wasn’t anywhere … this company are awful and would never ever recommended them as when you need them hard to contact and they couldn’t careless on their customer service and for a customer to get a beating up damaged van to drive about it isn’t nice and should never happen .. customers expect a nice clean van when they hire them for price we paid and why hadn’t the damage been repaired before we used it as they must be getting a lot of money of customers due to damaging it £1200 at a time surely they could fix the vans and not leave them with loads of damage on them

Awful booking system

I used Hertz 247 previously hence there was an issue with my membership expiring and email not working. Subsequently I couldn't re-register with a new email as my drivers licence was already allocated to another account that was disabled. Spent an hour on the phone on New Years day trying to sort the mess out and in the end the lady had to arrange the booking herself even though I couldn't physically do it via the app. I was obviously charged for it.
Rental went smoothly no issues there. Very dissapointing that you get a questionnaire about your service which doesn't work and when the feedback is sent to HErtz 247 no one actions is or responds.

A failing system

I have tried for a week to join this service. Despite several enquires they confirmed that I was not enrolled only 35 mins before my rental. As a result I have missed two planned collection slots. Further they called me to try and get me to agree that I was cancelling the booking (ie so they could charge me anyway). Their systems are disconnected as I received messages from different part of the business on this, despite not being allowed to take up my rental
