This is my first HF holiday and although it was well organised in many ways Its not really my thing and so I probably wont do another holiday. To start with Dolserau house is not easy to get to.... See more

Weather was great. Rooms is acceptable. Staff was friendly.
Food/Dinners were terrible -soggy chips, over bettered fish and overcooked meat. I was given mouldy falafel and rotten satsumas in my lunch pack. We were there in early August, no seasonal vegetables and we were given over cooked Brussel sprouts and broccoli (likely from frozen). We were never looking for dinners, poor standard and quality.
It was our first time went on HF holiday and extremely disappointed. I have since cancelled 3 holidays with HF.

3 nights at Nythfa House Brecon on a guided walking holiday. Weather not brilliant but everything else very good. Accomodation clean - well presented and comfortable. Walking guides were professional and knowledgable. Food good and all staff excellent. Whole stay was enjoyable as everything was so well organised. Looking through the brochure already looking where I'll go next !
Think very carefully before booking…
Think very carefully before booking with this company. If they cancel your holiday, which they do fairly often apparently it’s very hard to get your money back.

Just back from charming Dolserau House in Snowdonia. Beautiful surroundings, excellent food. Staff friendly and efficient in difficult circumstances. Special thanks to Irina and also to Trevor for self guided advice!
Very poor customer service in dealing…
Very poor customer service in dealing with a family members closing of account due to passing. Still awaiting 100 pounds that was paid to HF holidays last year. Out of all the companies we have dealt with to close accounts these have been the worst. A laughing stock to friends.
DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY - YOU WILL STRUGGLE TO GET IT BACK.
Dragging Feet over Refund
I booked a holiday for myself and 2 daughters on March 9th 2020. Soon after this was cancelled by hf. I was told I could not have a refund then, but would have to wait 1 year. I am a member of hf, 85 years old, and can't wait for my money any longer. I have written an e-mail and made several more calls. Each time I was assured the operator would be contacting head office, and I would be contacted soon and paid. The holiday was for Gentle Walking , 4 days, in April 2020. Hf owe me 1500 pounds and I would like this refund now.
hf are booking new holidays, and are dragging their feet about the money they owe. Other similar reports are on this website.

I booked a holiday to Western Algarve on 11/12/2019.
I am still waiting for my refund.
Poor customer service! My refund from Ramblers Holidays was dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Very good but...
I consider that some of the negative postings need balancing albeit there is some justification with regards to how long it has taken to be refunded. I recognise that HF admin staff must have had a great deal to contend with over the last year. The hotels are good (stayed in 6 of them) the food is good and staff accommodating. Course leaders invariably very good. As a break venue HF is highly recommendable. My gripe is over the cancellation of 'one off ' music holidays...not the understandable cancellation but the lack of any alternativer rescheduling. Walkers have options but if you are booked on a music course which is not rescheduled you may have now have no alternative choice for 2 years, which is what will have happened to one of my regular choices, with others it is a full missing year.
Keep asking for a refund on a holiday…
Keep asking for a refund on a holiday to Greece that was cancelled.
I was sent a credit note that I did not request.
I have asked for a refund several times just get told it has been passed to the person dealing with it and nothing happens.
Cannot get through to speak to anyone by phone.
Now going to the credit card company to get my refund.
Disgraceful customer service
Disgraceful customer service
Accounts department seems more than happy to process payments for new bookings but unable to arrange for a refund on a holiday cancelled by H F

Holiday should be cancelled by HF Holidays
Booked on the Christmas at St Ives 22 Dec20 and Festive Walking At Selworthy 30 Dec 20, on 30 Nov emailed by HF to say holiday will go ahead. Milton Keynes where I live is a tier 2 area, St Ives a tier 1. As a tier 2 resident if I travel to tier 1 I must continue to follow tier 2 rules. The HF email refers to the rule of 6 being applied indoors. That can only apply to people also from tier 1. I would have to be a table by myself. I emailed HF to inform them of the current government rules but got a standard email saying could take up to14 days to get back to me. (tried for 40 mins to get through on phone)
It is outrageous that the holidays has not been cancelled, thereby entitling me to a refund of my deposits £200. HF Holidays are behaving disgracefully to members who have supported them for years.
How long does it take to do a refund?
How long does it take to do a refund? Booked with H F Holidays in October then cancelled and I’m still waiting for a refund and it’s December. I have been told I am in a priority queue! This kind of thing puts you off booking with them again. 😫😫
HF = Health Failures?
HF = Health Failures?
We stayed at Nether Grange (HF Alnmouth) for seven nights, leaving on Fri 2 Oct 20. Covid alert triggered on my phone seven days later. My partner tested positive for Covid a further seven days later.
Website guidance to prospective residents at Nether Grange continues (18 Oct 20) to indicate: “Due to the latest government guidance, we have re-organised our dining room and our tables will accommodate a maximum of 2 guests per table. Tables will be allocated as per the rooming list, and guests who are travelling alone must also dine alone. Guests are not able to share a table unless they are in the same family group or bubble.” These are complete falsehoods.
Alnmouth HF managers Allison & Reuben Carr prioritised the needs of a large walking group funded by phonetic Prokta & Gambull pension scheme. The group did not adhere to the Covid rules applicable in Northumberland at the time. From the fourth night of our stay we were forced to eat meals with 16 of the 19.
Don’t expect management blunders to be rectified at the time or acknowledged afterwards. Current policy confirmed by HF CEO 18 Oct 20: “We intend to keep the capacity of the house at 75% which is our limit within the house rather than any figure we have to adhere to”.
Keep your NHS Covid app with you at all times. The sign-in that you are resident at Nether Grange won’t alert you when a former resident tests positive for Covid. The reporting system does not recognise the Nether Grange postcode.
If you like walking holidays it is…
If you like walking holidays it is difficult to beat HF for range and quality. My wife and I have had many HF holidays over the years and have never been disappointed
…Dissatisfied service
We are part of the group mentioned in the comment below. It is our first time of using HF and will be our last. People have worked and saved hard to afford their holiday and some furloughed from their employers too. Totally disgraceful, inconsiderate and downright disrespectful to their customers by holding onto their monies. Very dissatisfied customers.
HF Holidays - not looking after clients
Very poor service from HF Holidays regarding club booking to Lake Garda that was cancelled at beginning of April. Still not received our money back and emails to you from our organiser being largely fobbed off. Compare this to one of your rivals, The Ramblers. Had a cruise/walk holiday booked with them. Cancelled a month ago. Thought I'd phone yesterday to ask when I'm getting my money back. Received it today! That's what you call customer service HF! Guess who we'll be booking our club holiday with next year? 🤔
No cash refund for 12 months
Unlike the previous reviewer, we have been told that our May holiday has been cancelled and no cash refund until after 31March 2021. They are saying they are taking their advice from ABTA, but that is not what their website says. I feel we are being used as their bank-and that is not my job.
BRILLIANT ORGANISATION
HF Holidays is a fantastic organisation and has handled the coronavirus crisis with efficiency and sensitivity. We had our holiday cancelled just 4 hours before we left home, and the phone call from the tour operator could not have been kinder or more considerately handled. We received a full refund just 3 days later.
I've been travelling with HF Holidays for many years and cannot recommend them highly enough.
