Shirt was very small compared to any…

Shirt was very small compared to any other shirt I own. Trying to return it, i found that I have to pay for shipping as well as pay for a restocking fee. A $35 shirt turned into a $15 refund. Better to use an established online retailer.

Great kilt but poor customer service

I would have given this company five stars if their customer service had been better.

I ordered a budget kilt for $49, and it's beautiful. I can't tell much difference between this kilt and the $800 band kilt I had in the past.

The kilt and accessories arrived within a week, but the kilt was much too large. I returned it, but USPS sent it to Alabama rather than Wisconsin, and it took two weeks to arrive in Wisconsin despite being sent priority mail. (I am not blaming Highland Kilt Company for this.) According to my tracking info, it showed they received the kilt, but I heard nothing from them. No info showing that they had exchanged it and no new tracking info. I sent Amber three messages because the two phone numbers I found online were disconnected. Finally after a week of the kilt being in their possession, Amber responded and said she didn't know why the warehouse hadn't exchanged it. She said she'd check with them and get back to me. I heard nothing from her but, within 24 house, the new kilt was shipped, and I received it within the week.

It is still a bit too large, but it's too much of a hassle to return it again because of the poor communication and no way to contact them other than messaging through their site.

In my opinion, Amber needs to hire someone to help handle what I can only assume is an overwhelming amount of work because of their massive inventory. That being said, if you're ordering a kilt, I would suggest you order a size down from what you'd normally wear.

item out of stock, poor communication and measurement instructions

Took over two months to fulfill the order even though neither item was a custom order. After three weeks of not hearing anything I asked customer support about it, and they said one of the items was on backorder but should arrive "any day now." After no news for three more weeks I checked in again. She responded that she'd look into it and get back to me but never did. I got an email that the order shipped ten days later.

Then I come to find that the cargo kilt is way too big. DON'T BELIEVE THEIR MEASURING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CARGO KILTS. They come with belts assembled to them, and they're only adjustable in one direction, i.e. the measurement that you give them is the MINIMUM, and the kilt only gets larger from there. Don't round up! Either measure with our belly sucked in or subtract a couple inches unless you want the kilt to fall off because the belts won't buckle any tighter.

Based on their inadequate instructions and long wait I asked for a return shipping label so I could exchange for the correct size. She responded with a return address but completely ignored my request for them to provide return shipping. So I just went ahead to USPS and paid for it. They shipped the correct kilt a little over a week later. It fits well. It is a little larger than my jeans size but not nearly what it was based on the actual navel measurement. However I didn't have the kilt for myself or the pixie skirt for my wife for the renaissance fair when I wanted them, and now the weather's turned too cold to enjoy wearing them anywhere. The whole experience was very disappointing.

Long story short: slow shipping even though the store indicated it was in stock (apparently it was not), poor customer service (no notification of delays and responses not timely or complete), and measurement instructions don't match the design of the cargo kilts. The whole reason I bought from them was their unique pixie skirt design, but they will not receive any more of our business.

Highly Recommended

Absolutely fantastic. Very fast shipping on my (non-customized) kilt. I was really happy with my order and it fit as described on their site. Overall this is a great way to get a good quality kilt at a reasonable price.
