I bought some soft top cotton socks because it was claimed that they would stay on your feet ( unlike many other makes) but they have proved even worse than most others at sliding off your feet. I'm sure the old guy who is reputed to have started this Company will be turning in his grave at the rubbish quality his guys are turning out today ( or maybe all that history is made up and all their socks are cheap imports)5. Don't bother to get your socks from this Company!

I should have taken note of the poor ratings ,
fortunately i only purchased one pair which developed holes in a WEEK.
Suffice to say will not be using this company ever again. however i can recommend another called BLUEGUARD, been wearing for two weeks now and NO HOLES.

There was a time when HJ Hall socks were very good quality, lasted a long time, didn't shrink even when put in the dryer and were great value. They lasted for years.
Now they are made very cheaply, thin, break easily, shrink like crazy and are generally very low quality.
The price remains high.
However, they are one of the only companies selling non-elastic socks, which has allowed them to get away with selling very poor quality product under a brand that was once respected.
Their website shows old time English craftsmen and an English factory, but these have long since closed. They are all made overseas, and the English quality they were once known for has also long since gone.
I assume the proffits are good, but the product is not.
