Don’t book with the Holiday discovery!!

If only I could give 0 to the Holiday Discovery , I would. Our story was similar to everyone who left their reviews here. The holiday Discovery must have made lots of money via not returning deposit which must be criminal offence. They should be caught and put into jail and throw away the keys. How can this be allowed! The holiday discovery, the holiday horror!

Do not book with this company

Do not book with this company! We have just had a nightmare trying to get them to refund our deposit.,Thankfully , got this back todsy, but it has taken several weeks.
Ironically the appt we rented was lovely, no issues. The company were both dishonest and evasive.,
Airbnb, you should be sanctioning them!!
I have just received an e mail from Airbnb stating that HolidaysDiscovery have asked them to mediate as we caused damage to thevappt! We absolutely did not and have photo and video evidence. Even worse, Airbnb have sided and agreed with them!!
I already have the refund though, so will be cont my bank to ensure that a watch is placed on my account.
I cannot believed that Airbnb allow ths!

DO NOT BOOK!

DO NOT BOOK!! They ask you to pay a €250 security deposit that you will NEVER get back. I’ve been chasing them for 1.5 months now, and I’m no longer getting any responses after saying I would take further action. SCAMMERS!!!!!!

Unfortunately reading this too late.

Unfortunately reading this too late..
They are keeping my deposit claiming I broke something.

Also did the insurance on the deposit but that looks a scam too since they claim they will not be refunding the deposit.

They steal deposits

Like everyone here I stayed in February paid €150 deposit. They won’t give it back. I had to raise multiple complaints to Airbnb and it was Airbnb who eventually refunded me in late April.

If you pay a Swikly deposit for this place they will try and keep it.

- €250 REFUND. DONT PAY A DEPOSIT!

If I could give 0 stars I would. - €250 DEPOSIT. DON’T Send a disposit!! You won’t get it back. I stayed 4 days, and it’s been 2 months now, they keep saying there is a delay with the financial department, and right now there are not responding anymore since a month, I contacted Airbnb and they could do nothing about it.

I gave them a star as you can't give…

I gave them a star as you can't give ZERO.
They cancelled the booking last minute leaving me with spending my time searching for a new place instead of going around Paris.

They took the damage deposit and even though they cancelled 1 week on and I still don't have my deposit back.

Complete mess - highly unprofessional scammers

Complete mess - highly unprofessional.
24 hours before arrival and I still had zero contact, zero info as to when and where someone would meet me to check in. But that turned out to be the least of my problems ... the apparently are so short of funds that they cannot reimburse the deposit (which they first attempt to overcharge on, but will lower to T&C amount if you complain) ... it has been months and still zero refunded.

I would give 0 stars if possible

I would give 0 stars if possible. They didn’t give us back it 150€ deposit. The only thing they say is „I’m so sorry let me check with the finance department“. Airbnb is no help aswell. We asked them before we send the deposit if it’s safe and they said yes we never had problems before. While I read all the bad reviews I’m really confused how the give us green light to send the deposit, if so many people had problems with this company!!

I do not recommend this service

I do not recommend this service. Funds were taken from my account over a disputed damage claim before sufficient evidence and documentation were provided.

We only acknowledged responsibility for damage to one item. The rest of the claim was disputed, including a chair that was already damaged on arrival. Still, the amount was debited without a proper itemized justification.

When a company handles deposit disputes, transparency and proof should come before charging the customer, not after. This process felt one-sided, stressful, and unfair.

Very disappointing.

Absolutely agree with all the reviews below. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. I stayed in early February for 2 nights and was charged 250 pound deposit. I have still not received the deposit back despite multiple messages and intervention from Airbnb. Absolutely shocking.

Booked Holidays Discovery stay through…AirBNB

Booked Holidays Discovery stay through AirBnb for a January 15-24 stay. I was promised a refund within 21 days. It is now March 11 and despite numerous contacts with them through Airbnb, and a promised that they will check into things and the refund is coming, I still have not received it. Two days ago they told me that they have may refunds in the works and they are handling a high volume of refunds so will get to mine. Not acceptable at all! It's now been 45 days since my stay, over twice the amount of time for the promised refund. Today I talked to Airbnb who said they will give them a violation and call for a status on my refund. To all of my fellow travelers, DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS PLACE. I think it's a scam. I can't put a review on Airbnb because it's past the review time, but I will post everyplace that I can warning people to avoid this company. They owe me $291 USD. Please people, be smarter than I am in this!

For a stay of only 2 nights

For a stay of only 2 nights, Holidays Discovery charges a €250 security deposit, which they claim will be refunded within 21 business days — already an unreasonably long delay.
After 21 business days: no refund. Despite numerous messages and the intervention of Airbnb support, I was finally reimbursed after 28 business days, without the slightest apology or explanation.
A complete lack of professionalism and unacceptable financial management. I strongly advise against renting with Holidays Discovery.

TERRIBLE

TERRIBLE. NO ETHICS.NO MORAL COMPASS. A total scam. They have not refunded my security deposit of 500 Euros after my 3-night stay in early December. What part of "Thou shalt not steal" do they not get??!!?? Stay away. VRBO should be held accountable too!!!

We stayed at a holidays discovery…

We stayed at a holidays discovery managed flat in Paris in January. At the time we paid a deposit of €350 and were told that it would be returned within 21 days. It is now 27 days and the deposit has not been returned despite multiple communications from us chasing it. Please take warning when booking accommodation through this company. It has become clear that they have a deliberate policy of holding onto the deposit as long as they can. I am now concerned they will not return it at all.

If I could give negative star I would

If I could give negative star I would. Holidays Discover (HD) is a scam. They do not honour their own cancellation policies and lie to you until you finally give up.
I had booked a property in Paris through VRBO, HD was the property manager. I had to cancel and was within the 50% refund window. I have all the documentation showing dates and cancellation confirmation etc. HD spent 90 days telling me I would receive a full refund. In the end I had to get Visa dispute desk involved and I only got refunded $500 of the $1700 that I sent HD for the rental.
Worst experience and because of this I will never book through VRBO again.

Avoid! Never stay with them!

We stayed in Paris for three days at the end of August 2025. As usual, we booked our stay via Booking.com. The rental company behind the property, HOLIDAYS DISCOVERY, requested a deposit through Swikly. Despite stating that they would not debit the card, they did — on the very same day.

The apartment was a disaster. I have never saw anything like this. They offered a replacement, which we accepted. The replacement apratment was OK but had a broken trash bin and non-working internet.

I left a one-star review on Booking.com for the initial apartment, as it was in desperate need of renovation. The company then simply renamed the apartment and created a “new” listing under the same old name — without my review.

I tried to get my €350 deposit back by contacting the rental company. Each time they assured me that the issue would be resolved as soon as possible, but even after two weeks, nothing had changed.

It has now been more than two months since checkout. They have not claimed any damage refund, yet they still failed to return the deposit.

Also they use fake photographs for their "management team" page and for "reviews". This is very easy to find out by using google search by image.
