I have used multiple services, physicians, and treatments, including the pediatric ER, here and found all to be at the level of very good to excellent care found in the USA. Scheduling non-emergency services with specific doctors can take time, sometimes weeks, but there are always others available for quick scheduling. Knowing how to use their web site or app for scheduling is most most helpful. Nearly everyone there speaks English.

Absolutely through with this hospital group. I had to raise a formal complaint at the Évora hospital after their arrogant physiotherapy doctor refused to treat me any more on the lame excuse that I had had to cancel an appointment due to having fibromyalgia and being too ill to travel on the day. Then this morning I have tried and failed to make an appointment with an eye doctor at Évora for suspected Herpes Zoster because the guy on the triage insisted in going through his completely irrelevant 'protocol' on a call costing ME money rather than just looking to see if Évora had any appointments available. Instead he told me to go to emergency at the SNS?! What am I paying €2k a year for a private policy for? He refused to even look if there was an appointment available, instead accusing me of having a 'bad attitude' because I was asking him to do it at all and come off his 'protocol'! I had to hang up the call because he was being so unhelpful and rigid, more interested in sticking to his script than finding me a doctor. Completely useless. Over the
last 5 years I have sought help for back and chest pain and seen many of their doctors and they are always either arrogant, flippant or just unhelpful. Definitely don't recommend the Misericordia or this group in general.

On May 21, 2026, I used Revolut to authorize a payment for an invoice from the Hospital da Luz app (MyLuz). I gave a single authorization. The money was transferred 3 times in the same second, resulting in a triple payment. I contacted Hospital da Luz to see if they could help me before opening a dispute with Revolut. After a few days, and after presenting the requested account statements and screenshots proving what happened, the Hospital replied that "After detailed verification of the records, it is confirmed that only one payment was received regarding the invoice in question" and that I should "check the situation with my bank". Since my money effectively left my account and went to Hospital da Luz, I opened a dispute with Revolut to recover my money on May 25, 2026, and to date, I have only received a partial refund.
