I used to jump between different websites to compare hostels and now I simply use Hostelz. I'm surprised how often there's a price difference between different sites. I also love their option to compare hostels, as sometimes I am in between two hostels and one has breakfast included and the other not.

We booked a room through Hostelz.com, and the reviews were good. When we got there, the room and service were horrible. I came home and wrote a review on their site about the hostel. I few days later, it went missing. I wrote it again, and again, they deleted it. I wrote in to ask them if it was against their terms of use (I was careful to write factually, not emotionally or with opinions). They said they would get back with me, but they never did. The owner of this website David Oz is criminal.

This comment was actually submitted by Nathan Cohen (that's the English translation of the Hebrew נתן כהן), and he's not really a hostel guest. He's the manager of the Levitt Smart Hostel in Sofia, Bulgaria. Ironically, the real reason he's upset with us is because we *refused* to remove a review of his hostel.
Unlike other hostel websites, we don't remove reviews by request of hostel owners because we believe that would violate the trust that our users have in Hostelz.com for providing genuine hostel reviews and ratings. We do allow hostel owners to respond to their reviews (just as Trustpilot does), but sometimes hostel owners still end upset that they can't just have reviews removed by request as with some websites.
I used to use Hostelworld and the rest because I see their ad banners everywhere, but I've now entirely switched to using Hostelz.com. Every city I look at has most hostels listed on Hostelz.com than the other sites. That makes sense since they aggregate data from all the other hostel websites. So rather than checking half a dozen sites like I used to, I just use Hostelz.com and it has everything.
Website is a bit basic but it delivers. Lets you view all the hostels listed in Hostelworld and Hostelbookers, while concentrating on displaying hostels only. It has paid independent exclusive reviews with photos and also allows any hosteller to comment. Costs nothing to use and your booking is with the established booking sites. Overall just what we need.
