Hi Deborah, I'm Teria with the Pro Advocate Team here. Thank you so much for your feedback! We're sorry to hear that you haven't been supported. We do use AI to help you get the fastest resolution or response when you open a new chat, but if you'd prefer a representative, you can stay in the chat until the next one is available.

Abrupt changes can be frustrating for sure, and we have several ways for you to add mandatory or legal verbiage to estimates and invoices using several built-in Housecall Pro features. These options range from the global company settings to job-specific documentation.

1. Default Terms and Conditions
For long-form legal text, disclaimers, or mandatory state-required language, use the Terms and Conditions section in your Company Profile.
*Where to add: Go to Settings > Company > Profile and edit the Terms and Conditions section.
**How it appears: This text shows up as a clickable link on all electronic documents sent to customers.

2. Default Messaging on Documents
If you want specific verbiage to appear directly at the bottom of every estimate or invoice (rather than as a link), use the Default Message setting.
*Where to add: Navigate to Settings > Company > Profile and edit the Message on invoice, receipt, and estimate.
**Best for: Short, mandatory disclosures or "thank you" messages that must be visible on the document itself.

3. Checklist Templates for Compliance
For state-specific requirements that may vary by job type or require verification, Checklist Templates are an effective tool.
*Mandatory items: You can create checklists where specific items are marked as Required, ensuring they are completed before a job is finished.
**Visibility: These checklists can be attached to invoices so customers see the completed compliance steps or mandatory information.
***Where to add: Go to Settings > Checklists to build reusable templates for your team.

4. Customizing Individual Documents
If verbiage needs to be adjusted for a specific customer or job:
*Individual Invoice Settings: In the invoice preview, you can edit the Job and Invoice details or the Summary of Work to include project-specific mandatory language.
**Line Item Descriptions: You can add specific text or disclosures directly within the Description field of individual service or material line items.

The gift card from Amazon is the complete lie

Like other reviews I see that they lie I was promised promised a $50 Amazon gift card after their ridiculous demo spiel about how wonderful they are and for the past 3 weeks I've been trying to get a hold of someone and no one has returned my emails nor my messages so it's a joke

House Call Pro cold dials my company…

House Call Pro cold dials my company and several people promise me a $50 Amazon gift card if I simply listen to their demo, no obligation to purchase. I choose to do so and take 30 minutes out of my work day. I liked what I saw, but discovered that we had a contract with someone else for the next three years. So when I relay this info, I simply want to table the idea and I ask for information. They refuse to reply. They finally sent one email back promising the gift card, which I asked about to see how honest they were. They never sent it. Clearly they don't care about potential customers and cannot keep their promises in the beginning, so no thank you. Not going to sign with y'all in three years. You lost a potential customer, guys. Good job.

Would not recommend

Would not recommend. Customer service is the worst. Bad attitudes when they weren’t trained correctly. Takes hours for a response. They hold money if you don’t send in bank statements. They allow the customer to refund without any warnings. App price is ridiculous when we still have a payout fee as well on top of other fees if someone decides they didn’t really want to compensate a business. They use stripe too which I don’t support as they have no direct line to contact. Just a horrible experience.

Hi Kathryn,

Thanks for sharing your feedback about your experience with payment processing. We understand how frustrating disputes can be. Housecall Pro partners with Stripe to ensure secure transactions, but payment disputes are ultimately governed by global banking regulations. When a customer initiates a dispute, the funds are automatically held by the bank, and we don't have the authority to bypass their protocols.

After reviewing your account, we confirmed that the bank ruled in the customer’s favor because no supporting evidence was submitted. Our records show that a notification was sent on January 5th regarding the January 25th deadline to submit that evidence. Because the bank did not receive documentation to contest the claims by that date, they automatically ruled in favor of the cardholder.

We know this isn't the outcome you were hoping for. While our platform provides the tools and instructions needed to contest these claims, the dispute process is governed by the issuing bank’s strict timelines and evidence submission requirements.

We understand you mentioned concerns about our Customer Support team and timing, and we’d love to connect with you about that. Please reach out to us at proadvocate@housecallpro.com so we can gather more feedback about your experience. Have a wonderful day!

Big Island window Pros

Big Island window Pros. I have 3 separate windows that were broken fixed. They returned my phone calls and came as soon as they could, measured the windows and sent me an estimate. I called them and they came as soon as they got the products needed. They were very professional and did the job after sending dates they could do the job. They came, did the work to great satisfaction. Their prices were very reasonable. They also can replace windows should you need them.

Maintenance Program Issues With No Clear Answers

have had an ongoing frustrating experience with Housecall Pro, specifically with the maintenance program add on and customer support.

One of the biggest issues is that when a homeowner purchases a maintenance membership, that purchase does not clearly show on the customer invoice line items. It also removes discounts in a way that makes it difficult to clearly show which services were included because of the maintenance program. If you look in customer history, it will show repairs, system replacements, and other amounts the customer has spent, but it does not properly reflect the money spent on the membership itself. That creates confusion for both our team and our customers.

Another issue is the constant upsell calls. Housecall Pro reaches out multiple times a month trying to sell additional services and offer free demos. If I wanted extra services, I could easily log into my account and add them myself under the apps section. Those repeated sales calls are unnecessary and disruptive.

On top of that, we already pay extra every month for the maintenance service program, yet getting answers has been a poor experience. Support often expects you to wait by your computer for the message bubble to appear so you can explain the issue through chat, even when the problem could be handled much more efficiently over the phone. I have repeatedly been told that tech support and engineering cannot call and can only message, which is hard to understand in 2026.

As a home service company trying to compete with ServiceTitan, I expected much better customer service, better communication, and clearer answers. Instead, it has felt like a runaround. The maintenance service plan add on has multiple issues, and no one seems to have a clear solution.

Thank you for providing those additional details. It’s clear that these friction points—from how membership data is displayed to the frequency of our outreach—are impacting your ability to run your business efficiently. We understand the importance of having a platform that provides total clarity for both your team and your customers, especially when you are focused on competing at the highest level.

Your insights regarding the maintenance program’s reporting and the preference for phone-based technical support are noted. Regarding the sales calls, we can certainly remove your number from our sales outreach list and keep it strictly for support communications if that works best for you.

We want to ensure your voice is heard by the right people to address these specific functional gaps and communication preferences. Please reach out to us at proadvocate@housecallpro.com with your contact information so we can connect directly and dive deeper into these concerns.

Faulty Gift Card Offer

I was contacted several weeks ago by cold call, and was offered a $50 gift card to participate in a demo with them. I agreed to the demo, which I was told would take about 30 minutes. It ended up taking an hour and 10 minutes, and I agreed to a follow up call a few days later, which I did. I have since reached out numerous times regarding the gift card offer, and have had absolutely zero response. I was sent a follow up email about the demo by another sales rep the other day, and I immediately responded asking for their assistance regarding the gift card offer, and have been ghosted ever since. I seriously question the integrity of this company, and will probably never use them as a result.

Hi Nick,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We truly appreciate your patience while we worked to get this sorted out.

I’m sorry for the frustration caused by the delay and the initial lack of communication. We aim to be respectful of our prospects' time—both during the demo and in our follow-up promises—and it’s clear we missed the mark here. Your experience doesn't reflect the level of service we strive to provide.

Following our conversation earlier, I’m glad we were able to connect and confirm that you have now received the email to claim your gift card.

Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to make this right. We value your time and the chance to show you what our platform can do.

Unsupported

We've been using HCP for 4-5 years now. There's a lot of things I like about it but the one thing I absolutely can't stand is when using their CC processing, if a customer files a dispute, you are almost guarunteed to lose that money. They do not stick up for you at all. You are given limited opportunity to defend yourself and it seems as though it doesn't matter. We provided services to customers, that they don't deny we provided or they authorized, but for whatever reason afterwards disputed the charge. Our services were provided exactly as stated, everything done correctly, had authorization prior to performing work, and showed proof of everything- still the dispute was honored. This has happened about three times now and it absolutely sickens me to know that they allow customers to steal from us like that. By their standards, I should be able to dispute my monthly fees from HCP and get them back, right? Yes, there is a lot of good in this program and I will tell people that but I will ALWAYS include this information as well. I would have second thought doing business with them had I known how little they actually supported us when it mattered.

Hi Jill,

Thank you for being a loyal partner for the past 5 years. I am truly sorry to hear about these experiences; there is nothing more frustrating than performing quality work, having the documentation to prove it, and still feeling like the rug has been pulled out from under you.

To be completely transparent, while Housecall Pro facilitates the dispute response, the final decision is made by the customer’s issuing bank—not our team. We know how "one-sided" the banking system can feel for service providers, and it’s a pain point we take very seriously.

I also want to let you know that I see the chat from yesterday where you submitted your evidence to our payments team. We are currently ensuring that all your documentation is presented as strongly as possible to the bank for their review. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as we receive word on their decision.

Unacceptable payment policies

Unacceptable payment policies — They refund your money without consent
I am beyond disappointed with Housecall Pro’s payment processing. They demand customers' IDs and their sensitive private property data just to approve a transaction. If a client refuses to share this private info, Housecall Pro issues a refund of your money back to the customer.
Imagine earning a three- or four-figure payment for a completed job, only to have Housecall Pro refund it automatically. To make matters worse, they do it in YOUR name. The invoice literally shows that YOU issued the refund, making your business look unprofessional and suspicious to the customer.
I’m tired of justifying these 'weird' and intrusive requests to our customers just to get paid.
If you don't want to risk your revenue and your customer relationships, look for another service. Housecall Pro is absolutely not reliable when it comes to getting you paid.

Reply from Housecall Pro

Hi Andy, Thank you for sharing your concerns.

I want to provide some clarity on the payment processes you've experienced:

1. Requests for ID and Private Data-
These requests are a standard requirement from our merchant processor, Stripe. Stripe performs merchant reviews and may request additional documentation or ID verification to comply with federal "Know Your Customer" (KYC) and anti-money laundering regulations. This is common across most professional payment processors, not just Housecall Pro.

2. Automatic Refunds Without Consent-
If a transaction is flagged and the necessary verification is not provided, the processor will not approve the funds. We are required to comply with Stripe’s internal investigation decisions. If they deny a transaction due to a lack of verification, the funds are returned to the cardholder as the transaction cannot be completed.

3. Refunds Appearing in the Pro's Name-
Because the payment is processed through your Housecall Pro account, all transaction history is tied to that specific invoice. Historically, the system maintains this data—including any refunds, whether initiated by you or by the processor for security reasons—under the name of the original user associated with the invoice. This is the intended design to ensure all financial records remain cohesive and to facilitate automated notifications to the appropriate parties. It allows the system to keep your accounting balanced and your service history accurate within a single, unified ledger.

If you would like us to reach out directly or if you have any other feedback, please submit your details to proadvocate@housecallpro.com.

Hi Avi,

Thank you for being with us for two years. We’re sorry the recent update disrupted your workflow—we know how vital that "who owes you money" view is to your business.

While the dashboard looks different, you can find your outstanding balances instantly by clicking the Reporting tab and selecting Receivables. You can also filter your Invoices list by “Unpaid” for a quick snapshot.

We value your feedback and are committed to making the app user-friendly for you again. If you need help pinning this report to your main view, please message us through the Blue Chat Bubble in your account!

RUN. DO NOT USE

I did a "free" trial that wasn't free, it was still charged. I have been trying to cancel the service for several days, you can't just cancel online someone has to call you. Even when I called myself I couldn't talk to the cancellation team. I am on my fourth call to them as we speak, on hold to see if "it is possible for someone on the cancellation team to speak with me" This software not user friendly, overly complicated and the AI chat was USELESS. I hope that I can even tually get this cancelled. RUN DO NOT USE

** as of 3/27 the "unsubscribe" link on the emails does not work either, this company is still sending me unwanted emails. The website is just terrible, I can't find a way to do it there, searching their help comes to nothing.
