CHANCE OF AN AUDIT GREATLY INCREASES

On the 1040, having no income or 1099, just personal info entered the tax summary shows "tax withheld or paid already" of a huge dollar amt - I can't find this info anywhere in the H&R Block Software. There is a huge refund based on the 1040's box 25d. There is no way to delete it. Software is useless, I am demanding a refund

Negative Impact of Customer Service

I am a senior and the spouse of a retired USAF retired Vietnam Veteran. I went to the H&R Block in Burlington, NJ to get help with a prior year tax issue. The agent who I had the appointment with was so very rude and unprofessional. I honestly feel she was a racist and a bigot because of the way she spoke to me, very degrading. I tried to explain what I needed, a 1040-X to correct a prior year estimated gross income which included gambling winnings, but no gambling losses. I had a Win/Loss Statement from the casino, but she said I had to have an itemized statement which listed all the winnings and all the losses in order for her to prepare the 1040-X. I was to go back to the casino and ask them to give me that statement, otherwise she couldn't help. The request was not the issue, it was the way she spoke to me during the entire 45 minute appointment. Absolutely NO customer sensativity. I had just come from the bank trying to close out my son's account, who had passed away on February 1, 2026. I left there in tears. I was emotional anyway and she just sent me over the edge into tears.
She definitely needs some customer service training, terrible person.

We didn't get the full property tax deduction

For some reason H&R Block Premium did not give us the full property tax deduction for which we are entitled. I tried hard to find a way to correct that and there is none. I tried to get help and H&R Block has no human or even robot customer service. Asking for support only gets you a list of stupid questions with simplistic answers.

Random SSN, Failed ITIN and denied my Treatry

By all means pls avoid this company especially if you are non-resident like myself. Their accountant wrote in a random SSN in my TAX return, failed to apply for an ITIN number that was rejected and refused- because he didn't understand- to mark the treaty my country has with the US that exempt me from paying federal taxes - so the net result was an issue with the IRIS over the random SSN that he just put in my TAX return and paying over 2000$ . I amended my own Taxes my self and got a full refund from the IRIS , applied myself for the ITIN and communicated with them regarding the random number he put. He was paid 300$ and the company refused to give a full refund for this ordeal. It took two years of back and fourth

paid for service not received

I paid $99.00 for a service I did not receive. The only person who seems to be able to return the fee is the manager who is rarely in the office. I have gone there five times and gotten a different story each time. After the last visit, she screamed at me and threatened to have me arrested. I don't know where or how to resolve this. She is a lunatic on some power trip of holding my money. Why is this so difficult?

H&R Block 2025 Premium - Buyer Beware

I ordered H&R Block Premium and Business to do a trust return. It says it only has a PC version. I tried installing it on my MacBook using Parallels. That works fine for the Deluxe version, but fails for the Prem. & Bus. version. I'm a programmer and found that this version uses a database that only supports the Intel x86 chips. Fine, I tried it on a PC, and it failed to run there.

I contacted H&R Block several times. Each time, there was a long wait before speaking to someone. Each time, I was told that it was being escalated and I would get a call in 2-3 business days. I never got a call.

I like the Deluxe version for my personal taxes, but buyer beware of the more expensive Premium and Business edition.

H&R Block does not care about their customers and will not resolve issues

I was a loyal customer for more than 25 years. I paid a significant amount to have the Beverly MA office prepare my 2025 tax return. I had a reasonable expectation to have my numbers from last year populate the 2024-2025 comparison. Your company failed me and offered no type of resolution or compensation.

I truly wish that you, your district manager and H&R Block as a whole would have attempted to resolve my issues.

Michelle Briggs is the office manager of the Beverly location. She did not help me at all with the issues that I brought to her.

I would avoid having your taxes done at H&R Block at all costs. They just really don’t care about you as a customer.

Total incompetence

We made an appointment to have H&R block do a tax return for a trust that my wife is administering for an estate. They decided on their own to file her personal taxes, even though we did not ask them to, and we did not provide them with her W-2, or any other information. They insisted she pay for it and filed the worse than useless form. The agent asked no questions. They listed her position as a teacher, but didn't bother to ask about the missing W-2. We're married and will be filing a joint tax form on our own, but we will have to amend the tax form that they filed on her behalf. It cost us an extra $220 for them to file a personal tax return that we did not even request, and it isn't complete or accurate. you would think that they might ask some questions, instead of making huge assumptions that only benefit them. I do not recommend them at all. I went back with my wife to ask questions, and they just deflected and refused to do anything other than say we would have to amend the return. Thanks for screwing it up H&R block. We will never use you again.

H&R Block Horror Story

So, my first experience with H&R Block was last year with a senior citizen in his 90s. I’m not age-discriminating, apparently he was qualified. I was thrilled with the amount of my refund, although I questioned it twice. He confirmed everything was correct. Fast forward to this year, and I have my tax return prepared, only to owe a substantial amount. What changed from last year to this year? I had a few more things going on, granted, but still, why the big discrepancy? My preparer started asking me questions, which made me uncomfortable. He discovered he made a mistake and called over a coworker to confirm it. Now, not only do I have to pay the money I owe for this year, but I also have to repay the money I received from last year and what I would have owed had the taxes been done correctly. I had enough sense to get the peace of mind that pays up to $6000 if an error is made. Why would they cap it at $6000 when you have no idea how much you actually owe? This brings me to my next issue. Of course, I owe over $6000, so now H&R Block won’t cover it, and I have to pay another $800. I am furious. I would never recommend this company to anyone, not even strangers. I suppose I went because I was desperate. We go to professionals and expect the job to be done properly. Yes, we are all human and mistakes can be made, but don’t make a mistake on my taxes because I have too much bad history with the IRS. Last but not least they have a sign posted up saying “No one gets you more than Block.” “Guaranteed”. Yeah right!

Find someone else

Next year, I will look for someone else to do my taxes. Last year, Block did my taxes and e-filed. Just out of curiosity, I also did them with turbotax later. Turbotax mentioned a deduction that would have saved me money. Block should have mentioned the same deduction, but it never did. The rep said I HAD to pay that amount when I could have paid less. But then it was too late. This time, Block charged me $350(!) for one hour's worth of work! This is unacceptable! Also, did you know there is a lawsuit against H&R Block for selling taxpayer info to other organizations?

The process was fine as was the time frame.
However $745.00 for 2 tax returns was absurd. That was a $240.00 increase over each of the last 2 years.
This is more than an accountant charges.

Software Nightmare

After 12 years of using H&R Block software, I found after purchasing the 2025 package that it no longer supported Merrill Lynch tax data importing. I first requested assistance but no solution was available. I then requested a refund and was ultimately denied. I have literally thrown my money away as well as over 1 hour on hold waiting for “agents “. I thought these people were trustworthy!

Classic Bait and Switch

My wife and I are a retired couple living on our social security and my veterans disability payments. In other words, not a whole lot of money but enough for us since we are careful. With our income we decided to use H &R Block because we just needed the very basic services and we were hoping for a reasonable fee. On TV they advertised “$150, or less” despite the number of W2’s ((I believe that’s the correct form name). Our return was just about as easy as they get, no extra investments or properties, businesses or debts etc. It ended up just being the short form! It took the preparer about 20 minutes to complete the entire thing. When she was done she presented us with a bill for $244!!. For a short form! Had we known we might have been able to do it ourselves. I had a fit. I asked her about the TV ad, she had no comment. This is bait and switch at its most blatant. Shame on me for not asking about the cost up front and assuming the advertised price was what they would actually charge-especially for such a simple return. Word to the wise. Ask about charges early. If your return is simple do it yourself or seek help through community services, especially if you are seniors or have special needs. Next tax season that’s exactly what we’ll be doing.

H & R block

H & R block, specifically Karen Rogers is an absolute mess of a disaster not only did she put my status in wrong but also completely missed two w-2s and when I found this out and called in to have her correct said information she said she could drive but it wouldn't even be looked at till sometime next tax season so I should just take my completed status and be happy I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone and they were about $200 higher than three other places I had found unfortunately afterwards

Absolutely Useless

Has to be the most useless app and company around. All these false ways to "easily" import your documents only to be met with endless error messages saying they cant retrieve any of the info and you just have to manually input everything. Good luck closing or minimizing the app cause there's a good chance it will just log you out and make you redo everything you've already done. H&R is a proper scam of a business and you should avoid using them by any means necessary.
