Unfriendly cafe where a dog runs wild and jumps at small children

I came here on Thursday 11th April 2024 at around midday with my 12-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son because I used to like this cafe when it was called the Silver Rooms.

The name had changed since I had last been there to Simple By Hristo’s Kitchen. We walked in and there were only a couple of ladies sat at a table, but no staff on duty. As we walked towards the service desk a ginger/brown dog which appeared to be a Springer Spaniel came rushing at us from the corridor where the toilets are - it careered into my daughter and attempted to lunge at my son (who has a fear of dogs) - i had to repeatedly use my foot to initially beat the dog off my son, and then to fend off its repeated lunges.

A man emerged from the corridor and silently attempted to grab the dog by the collar, eventually succeeding, and began to lead it away without so much as an apology. I asked him if the dog was associated with the cafe and he said in a foreign accent that it was and that he (the man) worked there.

I asked him why he would let a crazed dog run around a food and drink establishment and jump up at young children and told him my son is scared of dogs. He said that the dog had run into the cafe before him - so I said if the dog is so out of control in a customer-facing business establishment then it should be on a lead. He then mumbled something which was certainly not an apology so I then told him we would be leaving and he said something along the lines of “I think you should”.

If he had apologised and removed the dog then we would have stayed, but he never smiled, never reassured us, and never made any attempt at an apology. I won’t be back, and will be advising others to steer clear too.

Amazing Chef !

Hristo has catered for me now on 2 separate occasions firstly he came and created a fine dining experience for myself and 10 friends. We chose the Italian menu and was not disappointed. Secondly he catered an afternoon bbq for myself and friends. He brought his home made burgers which were to die for. You can tell he has Greek heritage as all the meat was cooked to perfection.
Highly recommend him !
