Patricia is a diamond
I would like to commend Patricia for the care, patience, respect and understanding she showed during our call yesterday.
By the time I reached her, I was already overwhelmed after navigating an automated phone system. As a neurodivergent person, a customer service call is rarely "just a phone call". It involves uncertainty, multiple transitions, sensory stress, difficulty processing verbal information, anxiety about being misunderstood, and often weeks or months of building up the courage to make the call in the first place.
Many people do not realise that what may seem like a routine interaction can have a significant impact on a neurodivergent person's nervous system. The stress can affect not only the time spent on the call, but the entire day before and after it.
Patricia's calm, accepting and respectful manner immediately reduced that stress. She listened, communicated clearly, and made me feel understood rather than dismissed. Her approach turned what could have been an overwhelming experience into a manageable one.
That may sound like a small thing, but for many neurodivergent customers it is not. The quality of an interaction with a customer service adviser can genuinely be the difference between recovering and getting on with the day, or spending the rest of it exhausted and overwhelmed.
Patricia is an excellent example of why neurodiversity awareness matters in customer service. Her professionalism and kindness made a real difference, and I wanted to ensure that was recognised.

Better price through the Hughes Website
I called Hughes Insurance for a car quote. The adviser was very friendly and helpful and gave me a price which was higher than my current insurer with no pressure to buy. However I decided to try online through their website and was quoted a better price which was about £50 less. I rang Hughes and got my insurance for the cheaper price giving them the quote number. The advisor went through the policy again to make sure I had everything covered and had great patience when I asked her questions.I decided to buy as I was happy with the extras they provided included in the cover compared to other companies especially their UK and Ireland breakdown cover. I believe if you go online through their website you may get a discounted price.
