My wife got a bad haircut with this…

My wife got a bad haircut with this salon. The owner told her they are sorry and they would refund. They stopped replying to her for a week. My wife shared her experience online - saying the refund hadn’t come. I called up to discuss with the staff and find out - the owner told me because my wife shared pictures of the hair they messed up online and “tried to handle it herself” they refused to fix or refund it. Awful business and awful owner.

Poor service

U had a skin patch test booked which was then moved because the stylist wasnt in, and I then booked an appointment after a consultation waited a week! Only to find out the stylist has left a day before my appointment. Do not recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are genuinely sorry to hear about the frustration and inconvenience caused by the scheduling issues and communication problems you described.

We would like to clarify two key points in your review, as we believe there may be some confusion regarding our standard procedures:

Patch Tests (Walk-in Policy): For all skin patch tests, we operate a strict walk-in policy. These safety checks do not require a booked appointment, and clients can come in at any time during our business hours to complete them quickly. The requirement for a consultation and a week's wait sounds like it was connected to a full service booking, which is separate from the mandatory patch test. We regret that this distinction was not clearly communicated to you.

Staff Employment Status: We can definitively confirm that no stylist or staff member has left our employment during the time period mentioned in your review. All of our team members remain active with us. We sincerely regret that you were misinformed about this, which led to the cancellation of your expected appointment.

We sincerely apologize for how you feel following these repeated administrative setbacks. We are truly disappointed that this confusion prevented us from actually welcoming you into the salon. We would love the opportunity to provide you with the professional service our existing clients expect, rather than receiving a negative review from someone who has yet to experience our work.

If you would like to schedule your service again, please contact the salon manager directly so we can personally oversee your booking and ensure a seamless experience.

Lovely People, poor product

I was looking for a unique style and this salon was recommended to me.
I had an initial consult with Chris for tape-in extensions. He is a lovely lovely man and I was v excited to come back for my actual appointment. (I was quoted £150 for one pack of hair and £100 for labour - everything is priced separately.)
Everything went alright on the day, however the hair quality was quite plastic and looked very fake, especially for the price I paid. It also had a chemical smell to it. At the fitting appointment I was impressed with Chris’s professionalism and skill, however the hair and tapes were rubbish, he replaced the tapes on a few while I was there - just 2 minutes after they were installed they were falling out. I needed 2 packs of hair in the end (£300 total) and I was as happy with the look, just wished it was with better tapes and hair. I was told the tapes will last 4-6 weeks. I made another appointment for 4 weeks to have them refreshed.
I was very saddened when after 3 days almost half had fallen out and the rest came out when I washed it for the first time after 6 days.
I emailed the salon to advise and ask if they offer any other extensions. I was told they didn’t and no further help was offered.
I had such high hopes considering their reputation. The people were lovely and helpful, but the product was very poor quality. It was only afterwards that I saw on their website all new clients receive 30% off. This was not offered and nothing mentioned.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we're so glad that you felt welcomed and excited about your unique style consultation with Chris, whose professionalism we are very proud of.

We are disappointed to hear that the texture and adhesion of the specialized hair product did not meet your high expectations or our usual performance standards, and we sincerely regret the rapid failure you experienced with the tapes. We want to clarify that our new client 30% promotion applies exclusively to cut and color services and not to specialist work like extensions. These technical services are priced based on the individual cost of high-quality components, where each pack of hair carries its own separate price, similar to any professional product used in the salon. We take all feedback regarding product performance and client communication seriously as we continuously strive to improve our service.

Amazing!

I've been using HUSH for many years and their staff and hair & beauty services are fabulous!

Had a long awaited hair cut by the co-owner/founder James, who is very talented and leads a professional team of stylists.

The front of house (reception) team are brilliant and make you feel very welcome and relaxed too.

Thank you James & Co and I'll see you all very soon

Laser hair removal with Tina

I’ve been going to Tina for a few months now for laser hair removal and I’m so pleased with the results. I’m on my 6th session now and I’m almost hair free! Tina is professional and knowledgeable and I’d recommend her to anyone wanting to try laser! :-)

James did my hair this morning

James did my hair this morning, and I'm delighted with the cut and colour. He took time to discuss what I wanted and took me through all possible options. Everyone was kind and welcoming, and the salon is spotless and for a busy salon very relaxed. The whole experience was lovely and I feel fabulous. Thank you!

Dishonest, vile staff working out of a dated scruffy salon

I booked an appointment with Hush for a keratin blow dry after seeing an offer on Treatwell. When you go on the app it advertises it as a discount for last minute appointments (in this case next day). I checked that this was the case by checking the price of the same treatment if I were booking a week in advance and it was the case that there was a discount from £220 to £87 which I thought was great. I live 45 minutes from the salon and have a baby so I arranged a baby sitter for the day so I could have some me time. Upon arriving at the salon it is quite a strange environment not a typical salon layout and a bit scruffy but the staff were friendly. I was quickly met by James who I had booked to do my hair. James was really friendly. He washed my hair and rough dried it so obviously as expected it was a frizzy mess pre treatment. He then said he would be back with the treatment. At this point another man who I now know to be Daniel the co owner of the salon came over to me and told me that the price I had paid on the app was only for labour and that it was actually an extra £260 ONTOP of the £87 for the treatment. My local salon charges £200 for the same treatment so I know that this is about the going rate. I questioned this and said it is advertised as last minute appointment on the app and furthermore no other hairdresser would charge £220 (the normal price of the treatment) for labour which involved putting on the treatment and the blow dry. He became quite defensive and asked me to show him the app saying there should be a description that says this - I did and there is no description. He then tried to say they would do it for £200. I would happily pay this but not after someone tried to mislead you. They get you in the chair all nice and friendly, mess up your hair so you look a mess and then try to rip you off. I would imagine that with the 2 of them standing there pressuring people many people go ahead out of embarrassment. Daniel then said to me James wouldn’t try and rip me off, I said James had been nothing but lovely and I’m not directing it at him I’m directing it at the salon in general. Daniel then said James was the business owner - which is also only half true and this Daniel guy also owns it. It appears these 2 have some kind of good cop bad cop act going on. Needless to say I walked out. They should honestly be ashamed of themselves. You can not leave a review on Treatwell if your treatment doesn’t go ahead so I would imagine this has happened a fair few times. I am just hoping they don’t charge my card on file and I will need to do a charge back through my bank.

It seems that Daniel is vile to everyone according to these reviews. The salon is dated as are the staff, can’t imagine them being able to do anything distinctly premium.

Disappointing and overpriced

I had my appointment in June. The original hairdresser that I’d booked with for my appointment was unable to do my hair, which I was only informed of less than 24 hours in advance. This is something I accepted as I understand that personal circumstances can sometimes interfere with work related matters. However, I was disappointed to find that the hairdresser who took over my appointment (Katie) didn’t meet the highest of expectations. Firstly, I was charged extra without notice for extra colouring that was used. Whilst it was recommended to me during the appointment, there was no pre warning of any extra charges it entailed nor had this been labelled on Hush Hair’s website of the time, which is very misleading. The outcome of my hair colour (balayage) was okay but was brassy from midway to close to the roots even upon the wash out and toner. I was told this was so that it wouldn’t cause extreme damage to my hair, which seemed more like an excuse. I understood that my hair may not have been able to lift to a very cool tone of blonde however I’d never had it turn out so brassy as an end result by any other hair salon. My highlights appeared to be harshly blended, the technicality of it was not good. The overall price that I paid was extremely overpriced (above £220) considering the outcome of my hair and the atmosphere within the salon, receptionists don’t appear to be friendly and I had to wait a while before I left the salon to be picked up due to traffic,I felt uncomfortable and was frequently asked in a polite but forceful way when my ride would be here. 100% not worth it and was upsetting considering the fact that this was my first and last time booking with this salon.

I booked in for a balayage with Sophie…

I booked in for a balayage with Sophie and a cut with James. No complaints whatsoever, Sophie did a lovely job, she worked brilliant with my hair explaining the steps all the way through as I had box dye in my hair so I knew it would be a bit of a struggle but we achieved the colour that I wanted and advised that it would gradually lighten which I totally don’t mind. James cut my hair to perfection, I entrusted him with my hair, told him what style I wanted and he did exactly that if not more n I completely love the cut and colour no complaints there. I can’t say the customer service from some of the employees was great, but overall the stylists who cut and coloured my hair did an amazing job

Lovely staff, lovely salon...and love my hair cut! :)

I had Lottie cut my hair and she cut my hair exactly how I wanted it..... I love it! She was also friendly, funny and very welcoming (even though I accidentally stepped on her toes with my massive pink shoes 🤦🏻‍♀️). I will definitely be going back to Hush and would recommend going to anyone and everyone!

I booked in for a wet cut and blow dry…

I booked in for a wet cut and blow dry with a half price offer I saw online. I had never used this salon before. I will never ever return to this salon again!

The salon not only had a uncomfortable atmosphere but the reception staff seemed arrogant and unfriendly. The whole feeling in there was tense. I had Becky as my stylist who seemed nice but was tense and seemed under pressure.
I asked her to give me a few layers as my hair is thick and is weighing down my face, i showed her a few images she said she would be happy to do this and began but then did flit in and out of the room in-between the cut and seemed on edge..I'm was confused as to what was going on.

When she finished the cut she quickly left leaving another girl who seemed like an apprentice to blow dry my hair. This girl was more relaxed and also not so bothered about her customer service skills. She also added tht Becky had been also doing another clients colour whilst doing my hair although I had paid &asked for beckys time with me.

When I saw the finished results on my hair it wasn't what I asked for and looked very dated so when becky returned I relayed my concerns and she said oh I havnt finished yet although earlier she said she had and she will just come back to check once the blow dry was done.

I became distracted replying to a message on my phone and the next I knew becky had used thinning scissors over a 1/3 of my hair from root to tip! I shrieked and said I have curly hair don't do tht and she reassured my it will be fine and to trust her..but tbh her mind was elsewhere and she seemed rushed & pressured. Unfortunately as she had gone so far I had to let her continue and she did seem strained so I didn't want to stress her more so told myself to trust the process..Mistake!!!!
At the end I looked at my hair and it looked shredded & disheveled, nothing like the images I had shown!
She said she had to go if that was ok,she knew she had messed my hair up, I gave a deflated yes and she left.
Once I came to the till the obnoxious reception staff member asked if it was a card or cash payment to which I replied card. She gave me the machine to tap hoping I wouldn't see what she was charging me which was pre agreed that morning when I booked for £35 for a cut and blow dry.
Without informing me or asking me to check the amount or any reference to an change in price she tried to charge me £85!! I looked closely at the machine and realised and said there must be a mistake I should be charged £35 after the discount to which she replied in a rude and obnoxious manner "that was for one hour booking, you have been here longer"....Now I was fuming but responded politely and said that firstly you should have informed me you were charging me more, secondly your staff member was working on two people in one time on different floors in the building and ontop of this your saying that because you didn't get the job done in a limited time slot tht I was unaware that I had booked that you can automatcally charge me more than doube!!??? Plus you should have explained when booking that £35 is only for the first hour if we get your hair cut by then!!"

The member of staff just turned round and amended the amount to £35 and flipantly said "ok then" and that was it!!! No apology no nothing and I just turned round and walked out no sure how all that just happened. I was angry upset and had gone in with a long mane of thick hair that had taking alot of tlc to grow and was now left with a shredded dishevelled mop.
The most uneasy hairdressers Iv ever been to where non of the staff smiled at me and I went there because I thought they would be non judgemental of my face veil considering they have a private hijab friendly room!
Now reading other "real" reviews I realised that my sentiments and experiences there were not isolated one and others have experience similar things in one way or the other. Some one also expressed that there was a quick staff turnover which deals not surprise me considering the atmosphere in there...

Vile and discusting customer service!

Absolutely discusting customer service!!
Rudest owner ever - would not recommend!!!!!

Some weeks ago, booked hair appointment in with James (one of the owners), and TWO WEEKS in advance of my appointment date. I'd been to him before, at the old Hush salon, and had even recommended family members to them. My appointment was made over the phone, at the time, via a Hush employee, called Chloe, who asked if I'd "like" to pay a deposit just to ensure them that I wasn't going to cancel. Naturally knowing I'm a reliable and previous customer, and since I was given the choice, I said they didn't have to worry, I'd defo be there, and she confirmed that was absolutely fine - and all was booked in - she even went on to have friendly chat with me about where to find the new salon etc. No mention that any deposit was mandatory, all was sorted and appointment confirmed. Received confirmation text of my appointment also, straight after the call. Had been looking forward to the appointment as my 'Lockdown Hair' had grown out of control...so.....
It was a huge shock and quite discusting when Daniel Craig (one one of the other owners!!!!) called me, (less than 24 hrs before my apointment!!!) to inform me just casually that, in his words, someone had just "swiped my appointment", because I hadn't paid my deposit!!!??!!! What on earth...how ridiculous and unbelievable!!!???
Livid is not the word!! Daniel was so arrogant and disgracefully rude from the off, and I had never even met or spoken to this man before, (so can only conclude the defensive attitude was that of someone who KNEW they're doing something totally out of order) - no empathy, or good customer care. He asked me to tell him the details of the conversation that had taken place between myself and Chloe when booking, and once I had, he actually questioned it - almost intimating I was in some way lying!!!
Naturally I was cheesed off and also questioned his need to be so rude - asking him to put himself in my shoes as the customer. His attitude was discusting, and only worsened!! I explained that if it had been stipulated at the time of my booking it was an necessity to pay a deposit, in order to hold my appointment, naturally I would have done so no problem, but it wasn't, so I didn't. So.. receiving a call cancelling on me and at such short notice, less than 24hrs before, when surely they had chance to tell me earlier that someone was wanting to take my appointment, and before even giving me a call offering me a chance to pay (which surely would have been simple and the right thing to do), was just the poorest treatment I have ever come across.
No apology from this vile human, Daniel whatsoever, and instead he said "Have you finished"!!! Couldn't believe my ears. This man seemed Hell-bent on, what I can only deem was trying to show off infront of his juniors, that he was able to assert some sort of authority, (and at this point it was clear I was not as important as whoever had "swiped my appointment" - more like who he'd given MY appointment to), that he actually went on to say he was happy not to do business anyway and "go our seperate ways moving forward"!! What a digusting and simply horrendous, unprofessional person and in turn makes for a vile and uprofessional establishment!!!
Will NEVER ever recommend anyone visit Hush Hair and Beauty again!!! Totally upsetting experience all round!!!
