This is a fabulous shop

This is a fabulous shop! I'm sure my blood pressure drops the minute I walk through the door and I'm surrounded by the greenery.
The owners are lovely and very knowledgeable and the plants are always in excellent condition. It's nice to buy plants that feel LOVED by their sellers, rather than simply being a commodity to sell on.

Terrarium Course - Brilliant…

I bought a The Terrarium Course for my husband. It was brilliant. Loads of info before on what to expect and during including history, how to make it and aftercare. Everything provided. The course was informal but very informative and great fun. A great way to distress. As its held in The Undergrad refreshments and food available. A brilliant night well worth the money.

Not the best experience.

Sadly I didnt have the best experience with hutch house plants, which is a great shame as they do look like a fabulous shop. I try to shop with independent shops and like trying new places. I ordered 2 plants, a silvery ann and a satin pothos on wed 6th, i spent over the required amount for free delivery (48 hours tracked), in hindsight I wish I checked if I could have paid to upgrade this but it was FREE which is always a bonus!!!! I received a email from hutch saying it had been shipped on the 7th but didn't receive a email from royal mail until the 8th saying the package was with them!! I was told to expect my parcel on the 9th. Yet it wasn't delivered until the 11th (5 days in transit). I emailed hutch to say the plants were in surprisingly good condition apart from all the new growth which was dead, so that was 5 vines in total. I didnt recieve a response from them.

Had it not been for the absolutely shocking delivery service the plants would have been spot on and I did say I would use them again but either upgrade my delivery or order early in the week (this would be my advice for anyone). But as the plant just yellows more and more I wish I requested a refund.

Felt I should edit my review.
I receieved a response from hutch after this review had been posted!! Coincidence!!!!

The plant in question (satin pothos) died a week later, day by day more and more leaves yellowed. £18 down the drain.

Wouldnt by from again.

Hi Laura,

Thanks again for your order with us and once again we’d like to apologise for the issues that arose with Royal Mail; we’re really sorry for the delay with your order arriving with you. As we mentioned in our email correspondence over the weekend and on Monday, Royal Mail provide us with a fantastic service and it is incredibly unusual for there to be delays with our parcels getting delivered. However, as we mentioned in our emails to you, it seems that there was an issue with them logging your parcel into the system which is what led to it taking longer to arrive.

Whilst we’d like to apologise once again for the issues with your order, we'd also like to clarify a couple of points in your review.

When you first raised the issue with us on Saturday night and then again on Sunday morning, we made sure to respond to you via email and to also begin looking into it with Royal Mail that day. Whilst the delay was completely out of our control, we did work hard to try and resolve it as quickly as possible. As we explained, we also carefully pack and prepare all of our plants to ensure that they are as well protected and ready for shipping as possible and to ensure that they have the best chance if there are any unforeseen issues during shipping.

We also encouraged you in one email to send us photos of your plants as soon as they arrived and to feedback if there were any problems at all with them upon delivery so that we could resolve it quickly for you.

As we had endeavoured to keep an eye on your order on Monday, and to keep in contact with Royal Mail, we were able to identify that it had been successfully delivered and sent you another quick email to check whether there had been any issues with your order upon arrival.

In your email back, you highlighted that they were in ‘great condition considering how long they had been in transit’, albeit with some new growth lost on the ‘Silvery Ann’, however you indicated that you were happy with your order and would ‘definitely shop with us again’. You did not indicate that there had been 5 vines affected or that you were in anyway unsatisfied with our service, aside from the clear frustration that the delays had caused. We did not receive any photos of your order or any indication that any further action was needed.

We did in fact reply to this email earlier today, prior to you writing this review, so it might be worth checking your inbox again.

In terms of when in the week people should order with us, issues like this with Royal Mail are incredibly unusual. Royal Mail do regularly deliver our parcels on Saturdays, and more recently have even begun delivering some orders on a Sunday, so we welcome orders at all times of day and night.

As you also hopefully saw, with our careful packing, our plants should always arrive with you in the best condition possible. That being said, we would always encourage our customers to get in touch as soon as they receive their order if they have any concerns at all about the quality or condition of their plants.

Thanks again.

Quality and Value - Delivered

Needed to buy 24 easy care plants for an office space with a tight turnaround for delivery. Put a few things in my basket then emailed the store to get their expert opinion - they were really helpful in offering a few tweaks to my order based on stock levels and light levels in the space. Had them delivered to London and they arrived in perfect condition, really well wrapped and boxed so no messy soil everywhere when unwrapping - all in eco friendly packaging too.
Everyone was really impressed with the quality, value and service. Thank you Hutch!
