I had a pleasant journey, my problems started when my luggage was not transfered to my connecting flight. I had two weeks without my possesions. When it arrived, my suitcase was filthy. I was offered... See more

Frustrating experience: voucher error and no help from Iberia
We booked a flight with Iberia last year and were offered the option to change it to a different date, along with a voucher as a gesture of goodwill. However, when I now try to use the voucher, it repeatedly gives me an error.
I’ve called customer service three times, spending an average of 1.5 hours on each call, only to be given case reference numbers without any actual resolution. My latest case reference is 2026318-71749542.
This has been a complete waste of time. Meanwhile, flight prices continue to rise, and I’m unable to use the voucher due to an issue on Iberia’s side. Very frustrating experience.
Update: Iberia’s customer service has become completely unacceptable.
I genuinely didn’t think this situation could get any worse, but Iberia keeps proving me wrong. I’ve now been told the same scripted promise — “you’ll receive a response within 72 hours” — multiple times, and of course, no one ever contacts me. Not once.
My latest case number is 71637461, but just like all the previous ones, it leads nowhere. At this point, I have zero confidence that anyone will ever reply.
Today I called again, spent another hour and a half on the phone, and when I desperately asked to speak to a supervisor because this has been dragging on for weeks, the agent hung up on me. That level of disrespect is shocking.
I’ve wasted countless hours, collected a pile of useless case numbers, and I’m still unable to use a voucher that Iberia themselves issued. Meanwhile, flight prices keep rising while Iberia does absolutely nothing to fix an error that is entirely on their side.
This is beyond frustrating — it’s negligent, unprofessional, and shows a complete lack of care for customers. Iberia seriously needs to rethink how it handles support, because right now it’s an absolute disaster.
Flight delay, Broken luggage and only partial compensation.
My wife and I had a flight from Spain to Brazil for our nephew's bday, in the luggage we had 3 tshirts customized for the party for us and one for the child, bday gift.
The flight delayed 2:45. After arriving already tired they told us our luggage were missing but would be delivered within 24 hours. After this It was a nightmare with multiple call, everytime one person telling a different story.
In the end the 3 luggages arrived 2 days later (of course after the bday) with 2 of it damaged, one rigid red was broken and a big one grey was torned. After 1 month trying to solve, we had to flight bad with our damage luggages, the company said that will refund the red luggage but about the other they answered "Based on the photos of the black luggage, we can only see signs of use, which does not constitute deterioration and, consequently, does not render luggage unusable." Clearly they did not see any picture because the luggage is gray, not black!
I am still trying to make them AT LEAST REPAIR the GREY luggage.
Infuriating & Humiliating – Iberia Ruined Our Honeymoon Return: Locked-Out Systems, Rude Staff, Forced to Beg for Seats on 10-Hour Flight!
I'm still seething with anger over our experience with Iberia on our return flight from Budapest to Dallas via Madrid. This was the final leg of our honeymoon, supposed to be relaxing and romantic, and Iberia turned it into an absolute disaster of broken technology, zero customer care, and disgusting indifference from start to finish.
Their app and website were completely broken for us. For days leading up to the flight, we were totally locked out of seat selection, paying for upgrades, or even prepaying baggage. We tried every device (multiple phones, computers), cleared caches, different browsers, nothing. The system just refused to function for basic passenger management that every decent airline handles online. Infuriating when you're trying to take control of your own booking.
We called customer service hoping for help. The agent was rude and openly uninterested right away. He said he couldn't assist, then when pressed, flat-out told me he "wasn't interested in helping" while I could hear him having a casual chat with someone in his office, like my call was an annoying interruption. After wasting our time, he brushed us off with "deal with it at the gate." No solutions, no escalation, pure laziness. Shocking and unprofessional.
We arrived at Budapest airport 3 hours early to sort it out in person. The check-in agent fixed the short first leg (bare minimum effort), but insisted nothing, absolutely nothing, could be done for the 10-hour flight to Dallas. No seat changes, no paid upgrades we tried to buy earlier. We remained completely polite and calm the entire time.
Then we watched them upgrade another passenger right in front of us to the exact upgrade we were begging (and willing) to pay for hours earlier. It was suddenly possible, just not for us. That blatant selective treatment made my blood boil. Clearly their "impossible" rules are flexible when they feel like it.
At the gate, it hit rock bottom. The agents ignored our questions entirely, stopped responding, and treated us like we didn't exist. We stood there respectfully asking for any help, got crickets. Unbelievable level of disrespect.
The end result? We boarded the 10-hour flight home separated, my new spouse and I apart after our honeymoon, because Iberia's incompetence left us no choice. We had to beg a stranger to switch seats just to sit together. Begging! On our honeymoon return! Something so simple that Iberia could have fixed in seconds if their systems worked or their staff gave a damn.
This wasn't bad luck; it was layer after layer of preventable failure: glitchy tech, dismissive phone agents, lying and inconsistent airport staff, and gate crew who couldn't be bothered. I've flown internationally plenty, and nothing comes close to this level of consistent awfulness.
Iberia clearly doesn't value passengers, especially not ones on special occasions. Their Madrid operations seem built to frustrate people. Never flying them again, and I'm telling everyone I know (and everyone reading this) to avoid Iberia like the plague. Choose literally anyone else: Vueling, Air Europa, British Airways, American, whoever. They handle basic things like seat assignments without forcing you to humiliate yourself by begging strangers.
Iberia: Your app is trash, your staff are trained to ignore people, and your selective "help" is insulting. Fix it before more honeymoons (and reputations) get wrecked. Your already abysmal reviews speak for themselves.
Indifferent, indolent, incompetent.
We had a short turnround in Quito and asked for assistance before we left. We were told not to worry, no need, there will be plenty of time. The flight was duly delayed, the baggage took an hour, we missed our connection and Iberia staff were conspicuous by their absence.
This is the worst Airline that exists
This is the worst Airline that exists, it seems that it is being run by 5-year olds. Incompetence is to the next level. Six phone calls, asked for supervisor 6 times, they do not have supervisors, people are not capable of assisting with any single issue. I will pay double to fly with anyone else but Iberia

Yesterday iberia sent me an email ref XYBZRX E-TICKET 3513821377 ref. 075 - 351382 1477 SAYING THAT MY CONNECTING FLIGHT IB0392 HAS BEEN CANCELLED. I REQUESTED A FLIGHT TO MADRID VIA ANOTHER CONNECTING FLIGHT. Iberia via whatsapp no +34676676004 replied that a human will get me a flight. They said this 5 times and nobody did contact me. And now 5 minutes ago they said they dont know anything about this cancellation. They dont employ humans only AI robot zombies who endlessly repeat the same lies about a human that will rebook my flight. And they dont give a damn that im 84 yrs. old
Delayed flight, lost luggage, zero accountability.
Our experience was, like 95% of reviewers here, abysmal. They departed late from Costa Rica, which made us miss a connection to London in Madrid. They then had "problems" issuing us a ticket on the next flight to London and therefore made us wait 2 and a half hours in Barajas airport. When we finally got to London, 4.5h late, we found out they had lost one of our suitcases.
You would think that a serious business would try to make it up to their customer after an experience like this, right? Well it turns out Iberia is probably not a serious business, because when we filed a claim for compensation under EU regulation for the more than 4h delay, they simply sent a generic email saying it was not their fault, did not provide specifics for their rationale, and simply stopped replying for my requests of an explanation. Classy.
Iberia lost my suitcase last week and I…
Iberia lost my suitcase last week and I was reunited with it three days later. The response from Iberia washed their hands of any responsibility for losing my suitcase at Madrid Airport because they said the leg Madrid to London was operated by British airways. I quote:
“According to the agreement between airlines, the airline that operated the last flight is responsible for the baggage delivery and its claim. When BA operated the first flight and we operate the last one, we are responsible for the baggage claim. However, in your case, BA is the one responsible.”
I did however receive an email from Iberia the following day saying:
“Yesterday your flight landed on time in Madrid. We go the extra mile on every flight so that you can enjoy your planes as you have arranged”.
Perhaps they are on time because they do not load luggage into the hold? Their position is absurd given that my trip started in Vigo with Iberia and unless I'm mistaken British Airways does not handle baggage operations at Madrid airport for Iberia or anyone else, Iberia does.
Since 2021 I've taken 3 Iberia trips Vigo to London with checked luggage, and they have lost my suitcase twice out of the three times which is also absurd. Unfortunately, their size means corporate arrogance and a systemic dismissive approach to customer service.
It is not possible to enter the Iberia VIP lounge at Madrid Airport terminal 4 as there is a very long queue which you would only gain entry if you had two plus hours to wait in the queue. Iberia does an excellent transformation of a product sold as premium into rubbish.
The other factor to be careful about is the distance between the terminals 4 and 4S that Iberia and other Oneworld airlines use. It can take 40 minutes to travel between gates and there are always long queues for passport control if you arrive from a non-Schengen country like the UK and your connecting flight started or arrives in Spain. You need to have a minimum of 90 minutes between connecting flights but ideally two hours – otherwise you risk missing your connection.
Delayed Baggage and incomplete reimbursement - frustrating experience with Iberia
I had a disappointing experience with Iberia following a delayed baggage incident on flight IB0801 from Madrid to Innsbruck on January 18, 2026.
My checked bag did not arrive at the destination with the flight, and I had to purchase essential winter weather items while waiting for it to be delivered. I kept all receipts and submitted a reimbursement claim as instructed. Despite providing documentation for reasonable, necessary expenses caused directly by the baggage delay, Iberia reimbursed only part of the total and refused to cover the remaining amount.
I tried to resolve the matter through the proper channels, including filing a formal complaint and following Iberia’s claims process. The responses were slow and ultimately dismissive, with no meaningful explanation for why legitimate expenses were not fully reimbursed.
While baggage delays can happen with any airline, what matters is how the airline handles the situation afterward. In this case, Iberia’s customer service and claims handling were frustrating and unhelpful, leaving the customer to chase reimbursement for basic necessities caused by their operational issue.
I would strongly recommend that travelers keep detailed documentation if they encounter a similar situation, as resolving it with Iberia may prove difficult to impossible.
Overall, this experience left me disappointed with Iberia’s approach to customer care and accountability.
4 flight time departure changes!!!!
On the 6th September we booked 4 seats Madrid to Manchester on the 9th May etd 1705, based on this we booked Cordoba hotel for the 8th and train early morning on the 9th, plenty of tme for the early evening flight.
On the 5th November the flight was changed to etd 1145, meaning we would need to stay in Madrid on the Friday evening as no train was available to arrive in Madrid in time. This meant cancelling the Friday night in Cordoba, cancelling the Saturday train and rebooking a Friday train and also booking a hotel in Madrid for the Saturday night.
25th November - another flight change this time from 1145 to 0720, meaning leaving the hotel at about 0430, not ideal, but doable.
Today 3rd March, another flight time change, now etd 0545, meaning leaving the hotel about 0300.
I appreciate flight schedules can change, but 4 TIMES and what is to say it may change again.
So from our original booking the flight has been brought forward by over 11 hours, which has really messed up our last couple of days and has involved substantial additional costs.
When I contacted Iberia Express, they just referred me to the T's and C's, which is within there rights, but it is really really frustrating, as we booked in good faith at a decent price and now we are penalised through no fualt of our own.
Also they do not give cash refunds, only a voucher.
Buyer beware!
Worst of the worst experience of my…
Worst of the worst experience of my life. I wish it was possible to give Minus 5 stars. Avoid this Airline at any cost because theft and uneducated staf who can't help you in any way possible. I have refund claim almost more then 3 months and still going without any progress at all. Shame on you Iberia you are disgusting ripping people off.
Total Incompetence
We travelled Business Class with Iberia from San José to Madrid on 5 February 2026 with a connection to London Heathrow.
Despite arriving at the gate in Madrid while boarding was still in progress (“Last Call” displayed), our valid boarding passes were scanned and rejected by Iberia’s system and we were denied boarding. Instead of resolving the issue at the gate, staff retained our passes and sent us to customer services.
After waiting over 1 hour 20 minutes in a long queue with minimal staffing, we were rebooked onto another flight (IB0719) — only to be denied boarding again because staff were unable to issue boarding passes in time. We ultimately arrived in London more than four hours late.
Iberia framed it as a missed connection due to delay, however we have phographic proof that we were at the gate in time. It was the result of repeated ground handling and system failures. At no stage did we receive effective assistance, support, or accountability, despite travelling in Business Class.
Iberia’s subsequent responses have failed to address the key facts or the evidence provided.
An extremely disappointing and poorly managed experience. We will not use this airline again!
Flying from Heathrow to Colombia via…
Flying from Heathrow to Colombia via Madrid. Can't find my luggage on the belt, I asked customer service and they sent me to a different belt. Nothing. The information provided by the members of the staff is totally wrong. Apparently my luggage got onto the flight I was supposed to catch. Obviously, I missed the flight due to the incompetence of the staff. Gracias!
Refused to HELP when there is a WAR.. no humanity
I am writing about their customer understanding and relating to life situations. My husband and I have two tickets from Madrid to Mexico in 5 days which we bought 2 months ago to go on our honeymoon. We are in the middle east and a war started which does not allow us to make it to Madrid with our different flights.
We called iberia asking for a favor to change our tickets with a fee or give us a voucher to change our date for sometime this month.
Unfortunately there are no exceptions. It is very upsetting to see how there is no empathy and understanding.
We didn't even want to cancel it. Just change the date because of the situation.
Humanity has no place in this airline unless you paid. Big shame, we learned, not to buy from them again. Because they won't be there for you when you truly need them.
Can I have Zero stars
Can I have Zero stars, please. Longhaul Heathrow to Puerto Rico via Madrid, seats terrible, Food even worse, temperature in cabin intolerable, late arriving in Madrid, rush to gate for Puerto Rico and luggage left behind. What can I say, first and last time with Iberia. Never, ever again - I'd rather stay at home.
Oh, yes, forgot to mention. Evidently the aircraft was having some technical problems. This meant that in my seat (and many others) there was no onscreen entertainment/facilities. Nothing working and also no usb charging. This affected many passengers and the flight attendants didn't respond to any assistance calls.
Moved to economy from premium!
After booking flights to Colombia 6 months ago, paying for premium economy, the return flight, in only 2 weeks time, was changed by 10 hours but no premium economy seats left. Disgraceful! Won’t be using them ever again.
Iberia - terrible service
Have just done a return flight London to Buenos Aires via Madrid. Dec & February
Nightmare website for checking in for outgoing flight and it took ages for staff to input info at check in desk.
Ridiculous length queue in BA with ony 3 staff on check in - often all three chatting / discussing one issue.
The seats are so close together people really struggled to get in and out of their rows
Eating was difficult as people have their seats reclined and staf didnt ask them to upright them.
Screens now so close difficult to watch comfortably.
Food absolutely awful both trips Absolute minimum provided.
The worst was a “starter “ of couscous - just cous cous with no seasonings etc just half a tomato. Also stale sliced white sandwich for an inedible snack.
Staff pleasant on the return trip but outgoing, rude and dismissive . Nothing on offer including water after the dinner until breakfast on outgoing flight.
Luggage not transferred inMadrid on both trips. Iberia obviously know that this is a problm every time. Terrible service afterwards.
Will do everything I can to NOTfly with Iberia again!
Hand luggage
Once again hand luggage to be put into the plane even if space available!
Awful
Booked holidays with BA, unfortunately we were switched to Iberia Airlines. Seats smaller than in Ryanair, boiling hot, asked few times to low temperature down, but nothing was done about it. You have to pay even for a most disgusting coffee! Will never fly with this airways again!
Poor experience all round
Poor experience all round. I would not use this airline again. Late departure (about 4 hours). Stressful timing for our connecting flight. Poor food, uncomfortable seats. We paid many hundreds of pounds for extra leg room. Our seats were changed last minute and we did not get the seats we paid for. No proactive refund. It has been very difficult to make contact with this company. I fear nearly £500 is lost as we did not get the seats we paid for and I am making zero progress with a claim. I would avoid.
