Problems and Customer Service

We're having our bathroom refitted currently and we chose IS bath, vanity unit, taps, toilet. Sadly the bath taps leak water excessively when they are turned off and the toilet flush also has a problem. Our plumbing merchants have raised a case with Ideal Standard but are struggling to get a response from their customer service. Apparently they turn their phones off in the afternoon at the moment because of the volume of calls. So I've got half a bathroom and the plumber can't seal the bath panel yet because we may need to order and replace the taps. Really disappointed.

The quality is not what it used to be

The quality is not what it used to be. After installing the closed coupled toilet, I noticed a black spot. Initially, I thought it was just some dirt, but after cleaning it thoroughly, I discovered it was a tiny crack in the ceramic. The finish is also not great, as it is not really smooth. Water droplets stay in place and don’t roll down. I expected better quality from this brand

Ideal Standard Esedra Floor-Mount Toilet

I purchased a house built in 2006. It has two toilets, Ideal Standard, model Esedra. These are floor-mounted toilets. Both of the toilets have visible cracks in the back of the bowl. There is not any apparent leaking, but cracks over time get worse. The toilets are defective and should be replaced. Ideal Standard claims a 100 year warranty on their products if they have a defect. When I contacted them with pictures of the cracks, they said that in order to honor a warranty they would need the original purchase papers, and they said a warranty is only good if I were the original owner. The toilets were installed when the house was built, and there is no sales receipt for individual fixtures. Thus, the warranty is useless. To say 100 years guarantee is not a serious statement. This model is also out of production.

I would have been very satisfied if they had said, "Yes, these should not have cracks in them. We can offer you a good discount on a current model that has the closest dimensions to these." Now, I am replacing them with a Gerberit toilet, and we'll see how that goes.

The first Ideal Standard basin arrived…

The first Ideal Standard basin arrived at our supplier broken, causing a delay. We thought - it happens sometimes, and waited for a replacement to arrive at our supplier. Upon delivery at our home, we understood why the first basin was broken when the toilet and basin were delivered unboxed and with no protective packing, therefore chipped either before or during delivery. There were also what we consider to be manufacturing defects in the ceramic and porcelain of the items. All of the Ideal Standard items were taken back by us for a refund. We had to start the whole process again. Never again.
