apologies to investopedia.com

I think I have been approached by a person pretending to be part of the company. Upon further investigation the sites are completely different. Please do not post my original review as it is incorrect. Please if you require any information from me I can send you the details or communications. Apologies for the misunderstanding

Brendan, we do not have "accounts" and do not have any method of accepting money from people. So wherever you transferred your money was not Investopedia. We are www.investopedia.com

You should contact your local authorities if you believe you've been scammed.

Edit: Thanks for your ammending your review Brendan now that you are aware it was not us. If you provide your email address (through the 'request information' functionality on Trustpilot, don't post it in your review) we'll reach out and if you can share details of how you were scammed perhaps we can use that information to help other people from falling into the same trap.

Account Deletion

I signed up for their stock trading simulator. For various reasons I want to delete my account. I have been emailing them, and filling out their online forms through their third party service for almost a week. They have yet to delete my account, or even respond to me. Furthermore you can't even modify your account with them without filling out a form. It's ridiculous. I'm planning on leaving reviews everywhere I can. Maybe someone will eventually reach out. Unreal.

The reviews shows how many uneducated…

The reviews shows how many uneducated people there are in the world. Investopedia is probably the only website in the world where you can gain knowledge about investing. It doesn't mean you can start blaming everything on them if you lose money. That's completely your fault

I don't know why people are complaining…

I don't know why people are complaining about this site recommending stocks to buy. I've read many articles on this site, and have yet to see recommendations to buy a stock.

On the contrary, I find the articles clear, concise and helpful, and rate the writers five stars.

They are crooks, and you will lose a lot of money if you follow their advice.

Investopedia posted on their website the best stocks to buy, claiming that they are choice and are ready to skyrocket in price. All of the 13 stocks that they have recommended went down in price from dollars to just few cents. It was a very expensive experience. This company will play the market against you and will rip you off.

Hello Michael - we do not recommend stocks to buy and would never indicate that any are "ready to skyrocket in price".

Not professional, bad service, and cannot be trusted

There are not very professional, very bad service and best to avoid. I purchased an options trading course for £166 and after the purchase, there was no purchase confirmation email after an hour, l enquired about it there just refunded my purchase with no warning or information. I purchased the course again thinking it was a mistake and checked my account after one hour and countless emails sent, but there was no response, and then 3 hours later I got my purchase refunded and was told that there do not sell the course in the Uk, even though there had prices for the course in Uk pounds and other currencies. Terrible service and can't be trusted and best to avoid

Philemon - we do not accept purchases in the UK and there are two different points at which we try to prevent that.

First off, we block access by IP address. If you were able to access Investopedia Academy from the UK, you likely were using a VPN or other service which made it seem your IP was in the US or another country where we do accept purchases.

Second, if a user gets past our IP restriction, if you make a purchase using a billing address in the UK the payment will be cancelled/refunded. Unfortunately before you submit the purchase, we do not yet have your billing info so there is not an opportunity to block you from making the transaction.

Apologies for the poor experience that you had, we do try our best to prevent this from happening. We'd appreciate you re-considering your one star rating, but understand if you do not.

I have been using investopedia for my…

I have been using investopedia for my financial questions for many years now. I love the contributions to the site and the overall presentation. The information on this site is extremely valid and reputable; experts across varying fields (finance, economics, real estate, personal budgeting, etc.) come together and contribute current information, information you can truly trust. They have everything from simple definitions, complex articles, subscriber tutorials, news, and more.

The simulator for investing is also very good; it is a good tool to practice techniques of investing without risking actual money. Although I have not tried their academy, I am sure that is also a very valuable asset to the site. I definitely reccommend.
