Beyond staggering levels of incompetence at Involegal

Re-mortgage offer in place for four months, all ready for completion at the beginning of 2020 however we had not taken into consideration the entity that is Involegal.

If you are looking for an example of incompetence at its finest then look no further than Involegal. Their team of ‘experts’ sat silently (they never contacted us for two months. In all that time we just got a website address and progress tracker to follow) on our re-mortgage offer for over two months before realising, three days before completion (when we called just to ensure everything was ready prior to completion), that there was a spelling mistake which would cause issue with the legal documents so everything had to be reissued with us doing most of the work to ensure the change was applied. Since then, four promised completion days have come and gone (we’re onto our fifth completion date this month and down by £600 in daily interest charges). They will make so, so many broken promises (calls back, letters to be sent, information to be emailed). They will not hesitate to lie to you during telephone calls (whenever you actually get through). They will openly contradict the previous telephone call you had with them. The levels of incompetence at Involegal are beyond staggering and are at a level I have genuinely never experienced in my life before and hopefully never will do again.

Please take heed of all of the negative reviews relating to this company, unfortunately they are correct and true. If you have a choice then DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY (unfortunately we did not get a choice!). If you do end up with this utter shower of incompetence then my advice is to call them every day (they will not call you), keep on top of your case as it ‘progresses’ and make sure you write down all of your dealings with them (they won’t send you anything in writing).

I wish those unfortunate enough to be dealing Involegal good luck.

Thanks Involegal

I used Involegal for my remortgage with Virgin Money. I thought they were great so really surprised to see so many negative reviews. They sent letters out promptly and responded quickly and professionally. I dealt with the office in Cardiff and couldn't fault their service. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because there is call centre vibe about them when you try and speak to someone but to be fair all my queries were answered and dealt with.

Involegal Absolutely appalling level of service

Absolutely appalling level of service, never ever will we accept free legals with a simple remortgage again, avoid Involegal at all costs obviously taken on more work than they can handle and NatWest went for the cheapest option. Took so long we stayed with our old lender on standard variable for an extra month costing us more than the free legal costs. Awful did not answer phone calls or emails. Avoid avoid avoid!!!!!!

If you have an option avoid.

If you have an option avoid.
Poor service, taken nearly 6 months for remortgage, really.
No contact from them and impossible to get them to pick up phone within 10mins of ringing!

Absolutely appalling!!!!😡

Absolutely appalling!
It’s a shame I can’t choose ZERO stars.
Our personal experience with Involegal has proven to be an absolute sham.
With the risk of echoing all the other reviews on here, the customer service is pretty much non existent. They leave you on hold for 30 minutes, to then be told to leave an answer phone message.....waste of time, no one ever returns any calls, replies to any emails, or even answers the phone.
We started our remortgage in September 2019 and had a mortgage offer agreed straight away, but we have had nothing but problems ever since. First of all they kept blaming us for not returning forms or not supplying them with needed information... this was just a scape goat strategy for their pure incompetence!
As time went on, we heard less and less from involegal and it wasn’t until we chased them this week, threatening them with a complaint, that we actually got any further, bearing in mind we are 3.5 months down the line now. We spoke to them on the phone, and she said basically what we wanted to hear, that they were just waiting on an email from NatWest before continuing to completion.
The next day we received a letter in the post stating that they were UNABLE to continue with the remortgage as they will not lend against a SELF BUILD!!!!
Just so you know, they knew the house was a self build right from the start, and we were told that checks would be carried out, but as long as we had all warranty etc for the house it was fine.
There was no explanation, no warning....just a letter.

It’s too late for us now, but if you are reading this and wondering if things will get better, THEY WONT!! Get out while you can.
Involegal should not be still in business and I’m surprised NatWest still use them to represent their legal side.
We are so annoyed that we’ve wasted nearly 4 months on a remortgage that was never going to happen. Back to the drawing board whilst involegal continue to play with peoples lives! 😡

Surprised to see all the negative reviews, my experience was quite positive!

Surprised to see all the negative reviews as I've had a pretty faultless experience with Involegal. Straightforward remortgage, after supplying all the information they just got on with it. A while later (about two months, I didn't push as wasn't really bothered how long it took for this one) I received a phone call from them with the completion date. On the completion date, everything went smoothly.

Involegal is a very bad nightmare

NEVER PUT MORTGAGE/REMORTGAGE APPLICATION WITH INVOLEGAL HUGE JAMES SOLICITOR.
Applied for remortgage with Natwest and they took ages to complete my application due to theirs slow processing. I have got charged standard charges almost £350
I would say never ever even think to use Involegal huge James solicitor.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I wish i saw the reviews earlier, unfortunately i am in similar position as others mentioned. for no obvious reason they delayed my application and here i am now on the variable rate paid more than £500 this month!
hopeless is getting through the phones- more than 30min wait, no response to emails and no response on their website.
I've asked my morgtgae broker to chase them and find out who is responsible for this delay and costs! no chance- at all.
they should be reported to the Ombudsman

Don't get a remortgage with Natwest if Involegal are the panel firm

Don't even bother getting a re-mortgage through Natwest if these are the conveyancing firm you then have to use. They are absolutely dire. They have had nearly 3 months to sort out a very straight-forward re-mortgage and have been chased all the way - they don't answer their phones - 35 minutes is the average wait-time and appear clueless when you speak with them. They keep sending back forms (2-3 times) saying that you haven't signed them properly, when you have (we keep copies). Because of their ineptitude since the 2 January 2020 our mortgage has reverted to the standard variable rate - from £340 to £1100 and even though there has been nothing left to do on the file since before Christmas and we have been chasing them (they don't answer emails either) we are still waiting and chasing. Seriously, don't re-mortgage through NatWest as Involegal (a Hugh James Business) will be your panel firm and clearly they can't cope.

I wouldn't even give them one star!

I wouldn't even give them one star!

Can not talk to anyone at their office do not respond to emails or telephone messages even when several complaints have been logged to Natwest in respect to the non existence service no responses just occasional generic text messages and letters chasing documentation that was not requested or required! Worst experience of my life do not use and why Natwest use them is beyond me! Total farce totally incompetent this company has zero communication or ownership!!!!

Absolutely shocking lack of service and complete incompetence.

I wish I had known how poor this company was prior to attempting to remortgage with Natwest. Had I known I simply would not have bothered. Despite being approved for the remortgage over 2 months ago we are still no nearer to receiving a completion date. They have asked us to re-sign documents already signed and are impossible to communicate with. We have now moved onto a high repayment rate with our current provider as our fixed rate ended. Absolutely shocked that this outfit are allowed to continue trading considering how badly they treat people. If you are considering remortgaging with Natwest I strongly urge you to think very carefully before doing so and do your research regarding Involegal first. If I could give zero stars I would due to complete incompetence and lack of regard for those effected.

-10 stars!

I wish there was an option of 0 stars or -10 stars as that would be the fair rating of the service this company provides. Terrible! Absolutely shockingly incompetent poor service with our remortgaging. Unacceptable mistakes in paperwork, same documents sent for signing over and over again, impossible to get in touch. Worst legal experience ever!

Nat West remortgage.

In common with many others who have placed a review, I have received the worst customer service that I have experienced in my life. I made a complaint which was acknowledged on 10th December, and still I am no further forward. Any complaint is supposed to receive a response within 14 days, I’m still waiting.
It’s impossible to communicate with this company, my mortgage advisor has tried to help and even he can’t get through.
I am shocked that Nat West accept this level of service for their customers, and I am now considering withdrawing from the bank altogether.
I will be taking steps to escalate this, I simply will not accept this any longer.
Do not use this company.
